All Hail the Royal Stampers: VSN Hostess Alums #2

OK here it is, our new home! Happy chatting! :)

mrslaird 06-23-2010 11:14 AM

Whoo hoo!

Finally eating lunch. I think i got it ready an hour ago.

eliotstamps 06-23-2010 11:15 AM

Don't forget to subscribe to the new thread! Pat, maybe this time your subscription will stick. Now I must get back to work! :)

mrslaird 06-23-2010 11:15 AM

Oh, and I love the name!

naturecoastcrafter 06-23-2010 11:23 AM

Found us! I hope everyone makes the crossover!

garkarlon 06-23-2010 12:17 PM

Yay! Thanks, Mish!! I wonder if we shouldn't send a PM to any and all that have subscribed to this thread. Is there a way to see who is subscribed? I'd be willing to take part of the list if you think we should do this, too. I know I get sporadic notifications when someone posts in the old thread, so some may get lost. What do you think?

naturecoastcrafter 06-23-2010 12:42 PM

I guess Denise, resqbarbie and Paula2 (pcm???) and Robyn (Robyn O) and Lee are pretty regular. Who did I forget? I'll tell Pat over the weekend. Peggysue started the thread. Thanks, Karo.

eliotstamps 06-23-2010 01:03 PM

This is a list of everyone who ever posted in the old thread - and the number of times
Obviously not everyone still posts, but if you want to send a PM to those who have visited within the last few months, go for it! :)

Stacey, definitely, Stacey--oops.

eliotstamps 06-23-2010 01:29 PM

hahahaha! No, I didn't count. if you go to the page that lists all the threads in the forum and click on the replies (the 5,013 in the reply column) it will open a new box that shows that. You can do it for any thread to see who posted or how often. I just copied and pasted it. I figured that was easier than trying to explain to someone how to find it! :)

jacqueline 06-23-2010 03:49 PM

I was going to say we forgot Stacey. Where has she been anyway? I miss her.

Like the new name. Good job Mish.

THANKS Karo for doing the ResQ challenge. You can check out the blog and see what has been posted in the past to get some ideas. I'm just trying to finish up these invitations this week and I don't have a mojo right not. :( It's been coming & going in spurts lately.

My back was better today but still hurts getting in and out of the car...just that twisting motion. Plus to top things off Aunt Flo decided to pop in for a visit. Lovely. Maybe I won't feel the cramps as much with my aching back. ;)

Gotta go finish dinner. Talk later.

garkarlon 06-23-2010 03:53 PM

Okay, I sent a PM to the most prolific posters, so from Peggysue up. If you think I should send a PM to the others, I can do that, too. But I figured if they haven't been around lately, they've probably forgotten all about us. Right?

No worries, Jacq. I got your back, sistah! Actually, I don't have your back, but I'll take care of the challenge. LOL Feel better, missy!

pcm2004 06-23-2010 04:08 PM

Well, it looks like I am going to have to post more in this NEW thread!! I am working on cards for the Sugar Nellie challenges. I just discovered those adorable images - AND Prismacolor pencils. I considered the Copics - but found that I was going to spend a small fortune to get all the colors I wanted and since I have used colored pencils before - I knew the learning curve was much less - so opted for that. I am having SO much fun coloring - feeling like a kid again. I am getting ready to post to my blog the one I just finished for the Sugar Bowl Challenge - so come check it out in a bit.

Little Lou's 06-23-2010 04:22 PM

I found you! Jean I can't believe you forgot me :D Not that I've been around much lately, but STILL!

AJ just got back from a week in Washington DC and New York City. He got to see Wicked on Broadway (so jealous). He says New York is way too big with way too many people for him. Of Course, when in Time Square their guide told them that there were more people there at that moment then in our home town. Big shock I am sure. Boys are weird, it's really hard to get any information out of him about the trip. I have to ask very specific questions and still only get one or two word questions.

eliotstamps 06-23-2010 05:57 PM

Karolyn, the list you sent sounds just perfect. Thanks! :)
Hi Stacey, Hi Paula, Hi Jacq, Hi everyone else!
Happy almost Thursday!

pcm2004 06-23-2010 06:14 PM

Hey Mish - how was the run? Were you able to participate with the late ill feeling you had just before going?

resqbarbie 06-23-2010 06:17 PM

I'm so happy to be royalty now (like Jacq and Jean)...

SOoOOOoOoooo what's up everyone?

pcm2004 06-23-2010 06:41 PM

Hi Denise!! How ever have you been girl? How's that little Gia? She is sure growing up fast, isn't she? Is she still into her dolls?

LuvLee 06-23-2010 07:38 PM

Honey I'm hooooooooooooooooooooooooooome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LuvLee 06-23-2010 07:39 PM

Oh I love our new name too!!! :D :D Thanks Mish!!!

I can host a RESQ, but after next Thursday when all the GKD previews and release is done.

Wow!! Some of us are a chatty bunch, eh??? ;)

casep 06-24-2010 05:38 AM

Hi everyone! Thanks to Karolyn for sending me the link so I didn't have to go hunt for it. I'm at Jean's house for a few days. We're going off to a LSS in a little while ... well not too local, it's in another city, but not too far. TTYL

Robyn O 06-24-2010 06:17 AM

I followed the bread crumbs and here I am. Thanks for the pm and directions. Glad to see that everyone else is finding their way. Will continue to pop in and out.

Robyn O 06-24-2010 06:25 AM

I went to the old home and left a message directing everyone to our new home here. That should help with those who stumble across the old and want to join us.

For a minute there, I was like, Huh? I haven't been published. But, then I remembered I still am, afterall, the reigning Queen of the Water Treatment Plant. :D

Actually, I am Crowned Royalty. And, I have the crown to prove it. See?

mrslaird 06-24-2010 03:14 PM

Those are awesome pictures! :)

eliotstamps 06-24-2010 05:09 PM

I think I'm going to have to find a crown and have someone take my picture so I can be royal, too! :)

Love the pics, girls! Glad everyone is finding our new spot.
Paula M - the relay was great. I posted a big recap and a couple of photos on the last page of the old thread. I walked more than 8 miles over the 24 hour period, and stayed up all night to do it! I am getting too old for that, I think. Haha!
Hard to believe I've only been back three days. Work has been super busy and this weekend I'm headed to see my cousins for a quick visit. And I need to make a birthday card before I go. I have run out of masculine cards in my stash. :(
OK, off to scrounge dinner and start tackling the chores. Happy almost Friday, everyone! :)

eliotstamps 06-24-2010 05:12 PM

Also, I need some advice. I'm thinking about signing up for a 6-month subscription to Taylored Expressions' Key ingredients kit. Each kit has supplies (minus the actual stamps) for at least 16 cards, including cardstock and embellies in trendy colors and patterns. Has anyone belonged to one of these before? I ordered one of her kits once and really liked it, but I'm not sure how I will feel after six of them. If you sign up by tomorrow, you get a free exclusive stamp set at the end of the 6 months, which is a nice little incentive. Thoughts???

Little Lou's 06-24-2010 05:41 PM

Michelle, how much of a savings is it (other than the free stamp set at the end) compared to what you would pay month by month? I say if you are going to get one kit free, or close to free, then it should be worth it. If you don't like one of the kits, it will be like you got it free anyway. If there is not that significant of a savings then it might be better to buy month to month

eliotstamps 06-24-2010 05:49 PM

Thanks for the input, Stacey! They only off 3- and 6-month subscriptions, and the six-month is $2 per month cheaper, saving $12, or about half the cost of one month's kit. You also get a 10 percent discount each month at the TE store, so that's another perk. My biggest worry is the 6-month commitment, but there is an out clause (for a small fee), if I find I really don't use or like the kits. Decisions, decisions .......

naturecoastcrafter 06-25-2010 04:28 AM

For me, Michelle, I just don't have the perseverance and discipline to do a subscription service. I'd be afraid that it would start stockpiling on me and that I'd be so behind, I'd chide myself for new stuff arriving before I had used the old stuff. I'd also be inclined to stray to other things I see. I like picking and choosing my own things, but if you like Taylor's things and her style, then go for it. It sounds like a good deal.

Robyn O 06-25-2010 07:23 AM

Royalty: OK, I have to jump in on this one. I was in Job's Daughters and served as an Honored Queen of the local Bethel (6 months) and as the State Queen for a year (Grand Bethel Honored Queen). I wore a crown and a royal cape. I'm going to try and take a picture of the picture and post it.

Mish: I did something like that once and enjoyed it. Some of the things weren't my taste and those I was able to trade with a friend who liked them and had things I liked. They also worked for when I had to include craft items for others. If you can afford it, go for it and if you don't like it...don't renew.

garkarlon 06-25-2010 07:48 AM

I'm with Jean. What I like changes from one minute to the next, and it's mostly related to the latest and greatest products. We all know I'm a paper s__t, so having a subscription like that wouldn't do me any good. But if you're satisfied using the same papers and products over and over, maybe these kits are for you, Mish. Yeah, I can see that I haven't offered much help here. Sorry about that! LOL

Great idea, Robyn! I was a Rainbow girl back in the day; I probably have a gown/crown picture somewhere! I'll look and see if I can't find something I could scan and share. :)

And thanks for the advice on the kit subscription. You, too, Karo! Your take made me laugh a little, because part of my rationale for trying Taylor's kits was that I could be more of a paper s**t, without having to buy every cute 6x6 paper pad I see. (though I did just pick up Delovely from Cosmo Cricket while I was on vacation!)

I sort of figured if I had a kit like hers, where she uses new and trendy stuff like October Afternoon and Cosmo Cricket each month, I would have enough current stuff to try my hand at getting published. :) Of course, after I laid that argument out, I balanced my checkbook  and now I'm back on the fence! Hahahaha!

Here they are.

The one on the left is for the local level and was a white satin gown with a purple velvet cape and the one on the right is for the state level and was a purple satin gown with a white satin cape. I actually have a piece of the crown I wore on the local level. It had been falling apart and when I was leaving office I was presented with the top tip made into a crown for a doll dressed in the regalia.

naturecoastcrafter 06-25-2010 09:25 AM

Wow, Robyn--you have the whole regalia--that makes you Queen of the thread as far as I'm concerned. Cool pics!

LuvLee 06-25-2010 09:32 AM

Mish........I agree with everyone else...........if you will love it then go for it!! But if there are some things in each kit you won't use then it may not be worth it? Yep...tons of help I am too!!!

Robyn.......how lovely!!!! Wow!!!!

I was never queen of NUTTIN'!!! But hubby treats me like a princess!!! ;)
