***Misfit Monday (12-3-12)***

Starting today, I'll only post a new thread on the first Monday of the month. Does that sound better to everyone?

Brandon finally got called for jury duty and today is his first day. He's always wanted to go and the only other time he got a summons was when he was in Iraq.

Good morning Jennifer! That sounds fine with me.

Hope today is a good day for you and for Brandon on his first day of jury duty.

Karen, I learned after my long, hard divorce that for my sanity, I HAD to put away those ornaments from pre-divorce into a separate box. I started over. Before, we had multi-colored lights. Since then, I have all white. Before, we had real trees. Now I have artificial. My daughter has some of the old ornaments on her tree. Some I had made, and make me happy that she wants them. Every year I look at the ornaments that my kids made when they were little. I still cherish them. However, that was a different part of my life, and I was a different person then. My little children are 38 and 40 years old now. They understand, and seldom even see my tree!

I was called to the Grand Jury several years ago. It was quite an experience! Now that it's over, I can talk about it. You are on it for 18 months, but when you go, it's for the day, or week. Being on the jury, YOU can ask questions. Anyway, my case was of a young woman that was shot 5 times in the head, then dismembered and thrown in a lake nearby. It was SO interesting, and I'd love to do it again! Anyway, she was divorced and had a 2 year old little boy. She was contemplating moving to Georgia for a modeling job. Her Ex-Mother-in-law babysat for her while she worked at our local newspaper office. At the end, The MIL,FIL and EX-husband were all convicted and sentenced to life in prison for her death. The sad thing is that the little boy was present when his mother was shot at close range. He is being raised be his Mother's parents.

Cannot help but burst with pride... Alexander looks so grown up and extremely handsome in his uniform. Yes, this grandmother is very bias.

Thank you so much Sherry - Alexander looks so much like his dad who is very handsome. What really makes my grandson so awesome is his incredibly sweet loving caring heart.

jor 12-03-2012 10:44 AM

Jennifer - that sounds like a good idea - monthly. It will be fun to read back over the month. Facebook is nice but a LOT of SCSers left for there. And it isn't the same. I think we are much more open, sharing and compassionate here!

Linda - are you feeling any better?

Caterina - your grandson is very handsome. I don't think you ae biased at all!!!

Went out shopping with my parents again this morning. Just went to the local grocery store and Petsmart. It is WARM. Almost too warm - I could use a short-sleeved shirt today!

Hope everyone has a great Monday.

jenguin 12-03-2012 11:36 AM

Been running all over today. Had to get something notarized and then over to DMV to get fingerprinted for the new job. Went to Trader Joe's and Costco. Stocked up on some frozen goodies now that I am going back to work.

Very busy week ahead. I need to finish my schoolwork (hopefully while subbing the next 4 days). Drew has basketball practice tonight, tomorrow afternoon the boys have a dentist appt, Jack has his baseball lesson and at night is book club, Weds night is a baseball board meeting, Thurs Jack Lego robotic club.

jkincolorado 12-03-2012 11:48 AM

Wow Jen, I don't know how you do it all - you're amazing!

My mama called me this morning and she left her lunch at home so we took her some food and ate with her. Now back to cleaning and decorating.

jkincolorado 12-03-2012 11:49 AM

Cat - Alexander is very handsome! That's a great picture.

jenguin 12-03-2012 11:51 AM

Yep, super handsome!! TFS!

smileyj 12-03-2012 12:48 PM

Caterina- you are so very right about that grandson!

hi everyone! I have a long week ahead for me!

jenguin 12-03-2012 12:55 PM

Hedgie - check your FB messages. I think I found you a lobster shipping place!

jor 12-03-2012 01:29 PM

Jen - you have exhausted me and I only READ what you have going this week. How you manage to do all that, not be totally exhausted or totally snapping at the boys is beyond me!

Hedgie - I hope your week goes better than you expect! Is this all job related?

Jennifer - I'm sure your mom loved having you and Preston as lunch guests! I love that you live so close to each other and do so much together. I love having my parents come visit but I wish we lived closer to get together more often.

jenguin 12-03-2012 01:31 PM

I'm totally exhausted. ;) And my house is a mess.

hedgiemama 12-03-2012 01:39 PM

Sorry for the long vent last night. I am tired from learning and the long days. I have no idea how I will get ready for the holiday as on my days off
I am exhausted. I so wish I had done everything when I had that week off between jobs.

Anyway, sorry I was a downer. I know others have more worry and frustrations than I do. I am resting and regrouping today. I am worried about family members, learning my new job and hurt by something that happened a couple of weeks ago. It just all piled up on me yesterday.

Joan, I am sorry for all you are going through. I really don't care if we have a tree or not either and one dd has not given me any gift ideas, I asked for them by the end of Nov. I guess I feel disrepected by that. Oh well.

I am excited for our SS here! I am going to concentrate on that next weekend. We are doing one at work also, so I can get things together.
Otherwise I am mostly shopping online for the few gifts I need.

It is warmish here but rainy, windy and very bleak. I have zero energy and everything is going to have to wait for another day off. I just can't find the energy to do anything.....

Thank you Jen! The prices look great! $7 ish for a nice sized tail! I plan to order them!! :) hugs!

jenguin 12-03-2012 01:52 PM

Well the youngest one is in tears over homework. Sigh. It's Monday!

hedgiemama 12-03-2012 01:54 PM

Five tails only comes to $40 but the shipping is $66!!

jenguin 12-03-2012 02:03 PM

They get you one way or another!

jor 12-03-2012 02:42 PM

I better go back and read over the last few posts from our last thread. I must have missed Hedgie's post! I'm sorry things are so tough right now. HUGS from me!!!!

jor 12-03-2012 02:47 PM

OK - I read back.

Hedgie - you need to do what YOU want. Like you said, if you want a small tree that is what you should do. I think we all stress so much over what the holidays are "supposed" to be. It is crazy. I know people who start decorating before Halloween in order to get everything up. I figure if I have that much stuff, it is way too much and over the top. But that is WHAT I FEEL. If someone loves it, go ahead and do it. But I wouldn't want to have to take it down and put it away either.

HUGS from me to all who need them! You are all wonderful friends and I wish I could hug you in person!

Yes, I am beyond blessed with Alexander and am so grateful for every minute we get to spend with him. Wish you could meet him in person with his great sense of humor and so polite.

Joanne, I'm not feeling too good today. I am going to answer a few posts and go to bed, and it's only 5pm. Nothing really hurts but my knee. I just feel extremely drained!!! Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day!

Jennifer, Once a month will be great!!!

jkincolorado 12-03-2012 03:02 PM

Well, it looks like Brandon is going to be selected as a juror. He's still at the courthouse going through final examination.

We have most of our Christmas decorations up, but the tree still needs to be 'fluffed' and decorated. We got a 9 foot tree several years ago and I need the big ladder to get to the top. We did a table top tree last year because he was too little to know the difference anyway - that was very quick and easy!

caterinafmig 12-03-2012 03:03 PM

Hedgie, one of the very best Christmases ever was many years ago when I was living alone, received no actual presents from anyone, could not even put up one bit of decoration and yet it turned out to be a blessing, remembered with fondness. So do not let your heart be troubled and give yourself a big relaxing break. <3

Hug to you Joanne and all of my misfit friends! I need a hug!:D

lindalaskowski 12-03-2012 03:24 PM

OK,...Don't laugh!!! I have 5 Christmas trees!!! I have my original artificial green tree that I had to spend a whole day putting together, fluffing and putting lights on.(That's the perfectionist in me). Then when they came out with trees with the lights already on them, I fell in love with a green one with larger clear, faceted bulbs, and a little silver and different colors of green. It is a GORGEOUS tree!!! Then several years later, I found a beautiful white full sized-tree that has white lights. I also bought a stand that rotates. It is awesome!!!

Last year I don't think I put up a tree. a couple years before that I bought a tree that I can put up all be myself. It's a white table-top tree, with white lights. I had to buy all new smaller decorations. I also bought a white feather tree. It's only 20" tall, and is cute. I still love my big trees, but they are so heavy! Mine and Bob's kids are to busy to help us, so we have gone to the smaller ones. Maybe some year I can pay one of our Grandchildren to help carry it up and put it together for us??? We'll wait and see. If not, I will give them away to a needy family or a church.

Hello :) hope you all had a great Monday. If not HUGS for you. Mine was a MONDAY for sure. The kids were so wild, so moody, it wasnt a good day for sure at work. But other than that good day at home. I do have a crazy headache so I am take some medicine and chill.

have a great Tuesday

jenguin 12-03-2012 05:34 PM

No, I'm not organized! It's something I am working on. I spent all day looking for something that was pretty valuable. I was really stressed that I had thrown it away. I just found it with help from St. Anthony! In a totally bizarre place. I feel so much better now that I found it!

It was a rough day over here. Little guy is really mad at me because I was tough on him and forced him to do his work, which was a battle of wills. This was our first homework blowup. We both lost our tempers which is really unlike me but I was pretty upset with him and his refusal to let me help him and just giving up. He and jack have been fighting today too.

nikki1578 12-03-2012 05:40 PM

JEN HUGS

jor 12-03-2012 05:45 PM

Jen - hugs for you AND your boys.

Jennifer - hope Brandon is home soon. I'll bet he will make a great juror.

jenguin 12-03-2012 05:47 PM

Thanks. I'm ok. It was just a very strange day. Felt off kilter all day. Funny because the nurse at the doctors office said the same thing to me!

I feel the same way? Full moon? or New moon?

jenguin 12-03-2012 05:50 PM

I've never been on a jury. I got called for state grand jury when I was in college but was relieved because I was a full time student already enrolled in classes.

My dad served on a jury. It was a drug trafficking case! 1 innocent and 2 guilty. He said it was clear as could be.
