Hey Gals! Been a while! Still no crafting here. Barely getting my new area organized. It is amazing how adding one more teenager to the household (even one who does his own laundry and drives himself to school) takes more time.
More time grocery shopping. More time checking up on school work. More time doing more dishes..More time cooking....
As you know from my blog, I've been creating like crazy. I love doing the little 4x6 cards. Sorta like doing an art journal, but as small as a greeting card. And I'm amazed at how helpful the inspiration jar is for getting me started.
And I keep meaning to ask, Starla. How's your sister? You can PM me if you don't want to answer here.

I am TOTALLY going to make myself an inspiration jar...just as soon as I can find two inches of space in this mess!!
My sister is doing REALLY well!! (thanks for asking!) She has started a blog about her personal journey, but has only made two posts. She attributes her diet changes to many positive changes in her body. In addition to losing 40lbs, she has NO allergies now (she was taking very high dosages of allergy medicine just to "function") and she has had no symptoms of menopause, despite being put into immediate surgical induced menopause with her surgeries.
She also considers her diet the reason that the "fast growing tumor" did not grow one bit during the 3 months she took time to go to "hippie camp" (where she learned about making her body unhospitable to cancer through diet) and research treatment options. She had 2 oncologists say they wouldn't do any radiation/chemo (which she isn't), one on the fence ("because that is how we treat cancer, but concedes her "cancer" is not showing any "typical" behavior...in fact, is acting like there is no cancer) and two doctors who said that despite the positive changes, they treat with radiation and chemo and that is what they'd still recommend (of course, one of those two doctors also told her she would be begging for hormone treatment for her menapause...which she hasn't had symptoms of!!)

Gives one "food for thought" ....
Awesome! Great to hear! Thanks for the update.

Been grey and raining here. Perfect weather just to sit by the fire place and read! BUT! I'm still slowly plugging away at going through all my stuff and trying to get rid of extras. I took two boxes to the school this week. Still have sooo much more to go!!
starla and melody...you gotta try out for this DT!
Thanks for the link....right now, I just don't think I can add the stress of a DT committment to my life. Everything is still up in shambles as I try to re organize and downsize. Plus, just having an extra kid, homework, sports, etc to keep track of, has thrown me off my orbit. Just need to find my groove again!!
hahaha....you mean middle aged!! I'm middle aged. I tell that to everyone and no one believes me. But, if you double 35, you get 70. So...my thoughts are: middle age is 35-45. Right? Plus, I look young, I sound young, heck...I probably even act young!
But, I am hoping that Ken throws me a big bday party in August. You are all invited, of course!

No, I mean you are young! I'm 62, although I can totally relate to sound young, act young, etc. Well, other than the white hair, I could pass for looking relatively young... hahaha!

If 35-45 is middle aged...I've gone over the top!! I turned 46 this past December....YIKES.....Some days I feel like I'm still in my 30's/early 40's...other days I definitely feel 46! LOL!!
I am hoping to morrow is super crafty...wish me luck!
I sent Glue Dots a house hold tip about using Glue Dots...and I was asked to work with some of their other product...packaged for non crafters, to come up with house hold tips. What fun!!

Hey, Starla. I just came in from shoveling. Partly cleanup after Mark used the snow blower. He didn't finish because the blower got clogged. But a very wet, heavy snow. 5+" While I was out there, a neighbor came over and cleared out the bottom where the plow had gone through. Nice!

I was wondering if you gals would get hit with the storm! Knock on wood, we seem to be in a bit of a warming pattern. Upper 60's today. Nice enough to open up some windows!! I suppose I should take advantage of the weather and do some much needed yard work. But have parent/teacher conferences early this afternoon and would hate to get all dirty and have to get cleaned up again for that, BWHAHAAA
Hey, Dawn! I've been doing a bit of creating. a couple of challenges, but nothing major. I haven't been making many cards lately. Mostly just for my classes that I teach. I just have so many, that there really isn't a desire to make more. I've been playing a bit with mixed media.

I started an art journal (sort of) last January. I actually have done pages that aren't bound. I need to figure out how to bind them. Somewhere in my mess I own a bind it all machine, which would probably work if I ever find it. There are other possibilities as well.
I don't journal, just do artwork and add a verse or saying of some sort. I have never been a diary keeper, so I figured at my age, that is not going to change, but I find that an art journal is a wonderful place to experiment with products and techniques and if you don't want, you don't have to show it to anyone.
How about you?

How big are the pages? 8.5 x 11? or 12 inch? 11 x 14?
Mostly I was using 6x9. But I've also done some that are 4x6, and I started one bunch that was 6x6.
So you can see that any size works. I find myself doing my pages a lot like I would a card, but with mixed media, you're generally using more than ink and card stock. You can use paint, ink, fabric... just to name a few.

Hi all, Haven't talked to you in a long time. I've been reading this page. You all are talking about how old you are. All of you are spring chicks compared to me. April 1st I will be 76. Hard to believe. I have been working on cleaning up my stamp room, and getting things organized. I bought one of those 4 tier shoe racks from Amazon to hang some cling stamps and my embellishments. Love it. Also, just unmounted my SU sets to make more space. That was several days work. Want to start making cards again.

*WAVING* Hi Janet! It's been a long while!!
I hate to admit it, but I had to walk away from my reorganization for just a bit. I was getting sooo overwhelmed and a bit discouraged trying to figure out what to give away, pitch and keep, all the while downsizing significantly. I'm hoping to go back at it again this next week. I miss creating but refuse to make another mess on top of the disaster I already have, LOL!!
I started a smash book..but never really got "into" it much...
Hi Janet! I went through my stamping things earlier this week...and gave away a bunch of stuff to a newbie stamper. I need to go through more and get rid of more...I can't use it, then I shouldn't keep it forever.
Hey Gals! Long time no chat!
Spring break is finally here. Unfortunately, that is when I get called into work to cover everyone else!! Have today off, so the boys are going to get the joy of REALLY cleaning their rooms today. Then, they can enjoy the rest of the week (welllll, with a few chores thrown in here and there!! haha!) while I'm at work.
Hey, girls. I kinda feel the same way, Dawn. This month, I really haven't done much creating. Other than my classes, I'm managed to fit in just a few cards or journal pages.
One of the techniques we did in class was to make a fan card. I'll get it posted on my blog by the end of the week. I'm using this as my Friday Feature post on the OWSE blog: Crafting with OWSE, so I don't want to get ahead of myself on my own blog. Of course, for the other, I had to make a new fan using more products from the store.
