I'm not heading to see my friend in mtns tomorrow--postponed for two weeks. Dad of the best man in our wedding (ex was his best man when he and his wife married several months later) passed away Weds so I'll be helping out with their kids tomorrow while everyone gets ready for the service.

That will be a hard day but there's something comforting in knowing how much your life has woven into the lives of people you care about, and theirs into yours. There's so much strength in that closeness, and in people gathering to be with you.

It shows. What a magical way to celebrate and feel so much love! That's such an awesome time when things come to life like that. One of my car friends had up on FB today a picture of a little kid with the thought that the cool thing about being young is that the distance between the best thing evAARRR and the very next best thing EVARR is always so short.

Should it scare me that my current spiritual and religious perspective can best be expressed by a cartoonist?

Hmm, let's see...

Hubby finally got my stove installed. Took him five days. Not because of the health issues (although it contributed a little), but because of the way the stove is built and GE's recommendations for electric box.

Friend of dh's came out Saturday and took him out for a spaghetti dinner at an Italian restaurant about 30 miles up in WV. They ordered ONE plate of food, each had two helpings and they brought home enough for the two of us to have dinner the next day.

Sister and her hubby came up Wednesday, brought a huge lasagna, salad, baguettes and carrot cake for dinner.

(Have you noticed this post is food centric?)

Oh, and another friend of dh's came out today to take him up to Lowe's to pick up some drywall. After ten years, dh has decided to finally replace the gawd-awful marlite in the downstairs bathroom with real walls. On the way back, said friend insisted on stopping at the commodities place. we now have more beans, macaroni and rice than any two people can eat in a lifetime. Every time they stop there, we end up with at least four lbs of beans. Can you say BEANO!

What else? Hmm, neighbor who lets his dogs run loose has come over twice to blow snow off the driveway. Guess I can't say anything to him about his dogs now... .

Heard about a craft site that sells stuff super cheap. Not everything all the time, but still. Blitsy.com ($5 Distress Stain--$3.33, Mini Misters 3pk--normally $4 for $3.33, Goosebumps, regularly $6 for $3.99) Unfortunately most of the stuff I wanted was gone but this seems to be indicative of these type of sites. Not a huge savings but it adds up.

Hmm, Dh and oldest got hooked up on Skype. Now we get to see daily happenings/events. Youngest is looking at a house we used to own (to rent) as she's getting a bit tired of living without privacy plus she feels like she's imposing. The good news is she's standing her ground and refuses to listen to almost former husband's pleas to come back and give him another chance. Yeeeeeeeeeee haw!

As for me, I've been fighting a sinus infection, or something, for two weeks. All I do is sneeze and snot.

TMI?

Love and hugs all around!

Rainsong
OK, so I missed something here. Glad to hear you and Mr Rainsong are keeping busy in spite of everything. I hear you on the sinus thing. A low pressure system is moving in and I've had a killer sinus headache. Todays is almost a migraine. At least I don't have the snot!

DS2s teacher is now on bed rest - due on Wednesday and they will induce that day if she hasn't had the baby before then. Our other teacher friend who's father is in hospice - well he took a turn for the worse today. And her doctors are still refusing to induce because the baby shows no sign of moving out. She is due on Thursday and it really now sounds like she won't have the baby before her father passes. Very sad indeed.

Yes, but not too bad.

DS is getting pretty much nothing, as it's an east coast storm and he's enough inland. But I think the one behind it, going through Minnesota maybe? might get him. My mom and sisters are getting snow and wind but hopefully not as bad for them. The snow definitely will not be as bad, not sure about the wind. My brother is further inland and got some snow but it's stopped already.

DD well it's 70 degrees for her.

Thanks for asking! I had the weather channel on all afternoon just watching. Then I napped.

Oh boy did you just jog a memory. This is so true. I remember shopping one time with DD in Target. I guess I'd agree to let her get one thing. She found "the best thing she ever wanted in her whole life" and I queried her, are you sure this is it? Yes, definitely. Guess what happened two aisles later?

Shoot, I always figured folks showed up for the free food.

(Seriously, though, I'm sorry to hear your friend has lost his father. It's not easy to say goodbye to a parent.)

YDD left her husband back in October. He's a control freak--which I tried to tell her before they got married but she didn't believe me.

So I got a new coffee maker! Went first thing this morning to Costco, they had one that seemed fine. No thermal carafe but hey that's okay, I have a carafe. It is programmable and it has the pause brew (I think they all do these days). It's a Cuisinart model, was $59.99.

I got Starbucks while I was out today, so I could take my time reading the booklet on this one. I was also tired, tough falling asleep last night.

I think it's harder to push things out of your head to sleep when your kids move out.

Motoring. Groan. Still trying to recover from Monday's road trip. And we have to go back on the 19th to see the oncologist and have labs done.

And--need a muffler and a battery for my car.

Need to win the lottery. Gotta play, though.

Gotta mention--I did NOT like this week's NCIS at all. Loved last week's with the "young Abby." Oh, and I saw an interview with Pauley and the actress who played young Abby on youtube.

I think I would eat healthier if I were rich enough to have someone to cook for me, to prepare shrimp and good salads and fruit all the time. It kills my hands to do all that stuff. The water just drives me nuts.

I do buy the cut up stuff some but man, it's still tough.

Today I picked up a sugar free angel food cake (it's a bit smaller than the normal ones) at the store, and some sugar free fat free instant pudding mix, and have some frozen fruit that I'm defrosting to make a little trifle. I cut the cake into four and froze three pieces. Frozen fruit is fine for this but it's not fine for just eating. Sigh.

That's funny, I liked this week's. I liked last week's too!

Pauley will be on Letterman tonight.

NCIS isn't on this coming Tuesday; State of the Union.

Anybody else think that cop they're looking for in LA (Dorner) bears some resemblance to LL Cool J? Just at first glance in the pics. DH and I both had that thought.

Only 'cause they're both bald.

I think Rick Harrison (Pawn Stars) looks like Emmit Smith, though. Well, except for skin color.

LOL! I went looking for Bert at Christmas time 'cause I wanted to give it to someone but when I found him, he was $40. Out of my price range.

LL Cool J looks more like the bad guy than those two women delivering newspapers who got shot at!

Idiot cops.

This has nothing to do with anything but I gotta say it--the style of fingernails people are wearing (square, painted black or with black background and wild colored designs) makes me want to vomit. Fake nails look fake. Paint 'em in weird colors and they look weird. I wouldn't want anyone wearing those things to prepare food for me.

Just sayin'.

I never liked the black nail polish, thought it looked like they'd been digging in poop.

But I don't care anymore. DD does all kinds of things to her nails, but at least they're usually colorful.

Here's a pic of her nails when she went to the NO H8 photo shoot:
