There's NCIS on now.

There's NCIS on all day til 11 p.m.

BBC America has Next Generations on from 1-9 p.m.

And the Puppy Bowl! Starts at noon, two hours, repeat til tomorrow.

Since the NCIS episode was the one where Gibbs' daughter's friend contacts him, and I have seen it recently, I have Puppy Bowl on.

Excessive cuteness, indeed!

I think you're right: it's the whole if you see everyone else is dying to go, you'll want to go too thing. You have to respond in public so everyone can see how huge and popular the 17 events to which I invite 40 people every single month are. That would explain the importance of the public--not private--response. I think that's why I've never liked evites or facebook invites. Although I do respond by e-mail and no one else has ever complained.

I'm trying to kind of keep track of how much of this is me feeling more than a little overly sensitive about pressure from this person after last summer. I know that I can hold a grudge way more than I wish I wanted to, and that people who think that their feelings are somehow exalted and special and mine are stupid and irrational push the 'make Jane explode' button. It's gotten better since I've learned to speak up more and set clearer boundaries, which is good, except that someone who then jacks it up to start insisting that my boundaries are stupid and they're just having fun doesn't help my attempts to keep my perspective.

I really want to be fair and understand that on some things I am really oversensitive and that's my problem, not anyone else's. On the other hand I really don't like feeling like I'm a fashion accessory for someone else's popularity.

Welcome home to your brother and enjoy the weather! 40s here which is not so bad except for the 35mph wind.

Um, no. Jane, this is not a problem of yours.

As you said, nobody else has a problem with being emailed a response.

When you send an email and this person doesn't like it, you say, "oh too bad." And move on. This person will live with your just an email or stop inviting you, right? What's bad about that. You don't need anyone's permission to NOT answer an eVite. I promise you, you are an adult, it is more rude to insist on that than to not answer it in the first place.

Jane, I agree with what has already been said about responding to the invitations.

Why do I get the feeling that you've mentioned this person (the one sending all the invitations) in previous posts?

Can I give thanks to Michael Jackson for the half time show? I mean really. He would have been proud. He was doing this stuff 25 years ago.

Other than that, um lots of skin. DH isn't watching, and I have to admit, a glance here and there was enough to say, I'm not their target audience.

HA HA HA!!! Power outage!! This is hysterical.

The 49ers had a power outage on Monday night, Dec. 19, 2011, very very similar to this. Later you could see the transformer that blew in the nearby vicinity. ROFL

So maybe this is a 49er jinx? (They need all the help they can get!)

Wrose, I remember you talking about that previous outage when it happened.

What I'm curious about is if the 49ers were behind in that game, too.

PH, there were two outages that night. The first was right before kickoff, the second in the second quarter.

I was trying to find a score and finally looked at the pics in this link:
Monday Night Football delayed TWICE after power outage at San Francisco Stadium | Mail Online

And the niners were up 6-0 when the second outage occurred.

She burned the place down. It's funny, I thought of Michael Jackson too when they had the flames going. Of course, I also thought good thing none of them had their hair catch on fire.

I thought it was really cool that she brought Destiny's Child back. That was wonderful!

Wrose, I started the game not really having more than mild feelings about SF because I knew you'd be rooting for them. But Baltimore played so hard, and so beautifully that I was rooting hard for them by the end. I left the party about 10 so I could get home before all the bars let out and listened on the radio in the car when it got close. Got home, ran out with dogs and back in for the last 12 seconds.

HOLY

Baltimore totally earned that win. I can't figure out whether Dad would have taken the spread and bet on them but that was just awesome sauce. WHAT a game. Hard to believe they were the underdogs after seeing how they played.

Oh wow. I didn't realize there'd been an outage before. We were all sitting around taking an office pool on whether it was:

1) Chinese hackers
2) Iranian hackers
3) going to be blamed on Obama by a Fox News commentator
4) terrorists trying to destroy our freedom by stopping the Super Bowl
5) Beyonce's halftime show being so good it burned out the circuits

We definitely weren't bored during the 34 minutes, LOL.

Thanks y'all. I'll be fair and say that it's probably partly me being hypersensitive and partly the other person being a dolt about stuff. But yeah, it's my choice to just respond and trust person to live with it or stop inviting me if they can't. I think that's fair too.

Party tonight made me realize all over again how much I love kayaking friends and what an insanely wacky, amazing, really caring and wonderful group of people they are. I think one reason I was getting so freaked on my end is realizing how much I was feeling pressured only to participate on one person's terms, and how much I've missed them all and need to get over that. Having other people in the group that I hadn't been as close to invite me (by e-mail, muahahahaha!) to THEIR party at their house and feeling so welcome I guess was an answer of its own. It was a great game and a great night.

Well, my Steelers supporting husband really didn't want Baltimore to win but also didn't want SF to win as they would equal Steelers 6 Super Bowls so he was happy with the result!

Yeah it was a good game for a change. Almost turned into another snorer.

I haven't been able to root for any Baltimore team since Super Bowl III.
January, 1969.
Joe Namath.

Beat the Baltimore Colts.

So even if I didn't live here, I'd have rooted for SF. lol But, I didn't care much either way.

I'm slowly catching up so coming at this a few days late. I send evites to the kids things because that way I can get themed invites out and include more info than if I made invites. I don't care a hoot if people or how people rsvp. I don't tend to rsvp on fb evites because I don't need to broadcast what I'm doing to others.

As far as keeping a tally of who is coming or not if your friend isn't bright enought to mark a name down on a slip of paper that's on them.

Other than that, um lots of skin. DH isn't watching, and I have to admit, a glance here and there was enough to say, I'm not their target audience.
There's something to be said for watching the game on the recording. FF FTW!

I like how you said that, and Jane should note.

Your privacy. Your decision. Jane, continue to email your responses. If nothing else, to put little bumps in his wannabe perfect world.

My poor DH would get no invites from Jane's friend, still no FB account. Heck I know a bunch of people who don't have one.

But they have email.

Thanks V. I think you hit the nail on the head. I totally get how convenient evites and FB can be. I think it's a combination of the relentlessness, the fact that 'I can't make it' turns into just short of a Guantanamo interrogation about why not (I've mastered the broken-record 'So sorry, but I have plans,' in the face of repeated demands as to what those plans ARE so I can be told why they aren't important and I need to change them), and now the whole freakydeaky trip about how I'm ruining the person's event count.

Dude. I get that you like to go out with a huge posse all the time. That's totally cool. I like going sometimes, really. But I don't like going all the time and I sure as hell am not one more cardboard cutout you can pose in your adoring group scene. The more you try to turn me into your idea of who I should be, and tell me how irrational I am for not being like you, the less I want to hang out with you.
