Slowly but steadily better. Just be careful to not overdo it.

UGH on the storms. We had freezing rain here Friday. Giant skating rink in the back yard and out front yesterday morning. How is Shadow doing with the cold weather?

Sonny gets to start going off leash in the back yard after today's training session. Strategy is to train with him a bit and run him out so he's tired, then get him to stay, detach leash, get him to come to me. Then if he does, he can run for a bit.

Today when we did our first session he was so exhausted from training that when I let him run, he ran straight to the back door, sat down, and waited for Molly, trainer and I to come over and let him in. It was pretty funny!

But trainer wasn't sure he'd come straight to me and he did, twice! I'm so excited! And Molly's so good--she follows us around and sometimes does the same thing I tell Sonny. But she doesn't bark and distract him during outdoor training any more. It's been a huge change doing all the drills daily but it's really different to build that bond with both dogs. I feel as though we've turned into a team that works together. Sonny and Molly really seem happy about that!
Good to get the scale moving the other way!

Eating junk late at night is tough for me too.

And I need to start my exercise again.

Unless Marge is into bearded kayaking geology professor types, we may be able to coexist peacefully! Although I can see some contention over dog lovers... LOL.

Although I have the feeling the followup to our getting tipsy and creating profiles on the AARP dating site will make for some good stories!

The falling parent situation is so tough. You want to respect parents' independence but it's so hard not to worry. With Dad it was so much harder because of the degree to which the evil Dr Merlot was involved.

I hope I'll be able to make the choice your Mom made while I can still go through stuff and handle giving things away to people who want it/care about it. I hope at that point I'll have people who do care in my life. I guess that's the scary thing about not having kids, although from what I saw when I volunteered at a nursing home in college, having kids is not necessarily a guarantee you'll have people there either.

I just moved here so I don't *really* care. At least I don't hate any of the local teams.

But yeah just glaze over sports posts. I doubt I'll be able to ignore it with every newcast starting off covering the team or the fun or the prep or the city or New Orleans or the weather - at least I've been to New Orleans even if it's been awhile - but I have some feel for where they are. I was even in the Superdome back in the 80s. Do they still have that or is there a new one?
I have such a huge whiskey tango foxtrot over the whole 'f the fans, there's money to be made here,' clamor for bigger stadiums. What, like they're not making billions already? I have to admit when a team does that I can't help hoping none of the seats in the glitzy new arena or stadium sell. Of course they will, though. But it stinks that BFF and her family got priced out after all those years.

I loved watching football with Dad and I'll always love the game but the degree to which folks have turned it into a giant revenue machine just sucks so much joy out of it.

They'd get lots of handmade cards, that's for sure!

That really would be amazing if we could get a lot of us together, although it being their day I'd totally understand if that wasn't in the cards. But I'm with Marge, the vicarious joy would be a lovely thing to share! And in person sharing it would be beyond wonderful!

I cooked another big pan of tofu and broccoli stir fry this evening so I have 3 meals ready to go for the week. Poured it over spinach linguine, just under one measured cup.

Molly and Sonny love eating spaghetti. Whenever I put pasta in to boil I have two dogs in the kitchen watching me very attentively. It's hilarious to watch them eat it one strand at a time. Molly and spaghetti always makes me laugh and think of that Disney movie, Lady and the Tramp. I don't give them much human food but when I measure the spaghetti, I'm always a little under on the leftovers.

I wish Allie were interested. I worry that she feels left out sometimes.

Although being a cat there's a good chance she could give a flip either way, LOL.

Yeah it seems to me that if they don't do it early enough, then they just don't want to move. And then it gets harder on everyone around them. I have an aunt that's nearing 100.

I told my kids to take care of themselves. All their grandparents made it into their 80s. FIL made it to 90.

I was thinking that if they had a wedding in Ohio, of course we would go and whether any of you cared about that, at least I'd have a firm date when I'd be someplace and we could see what we could do, I'd love to see as many people as possible.

But I can also do that without a wedding, if we visit later this year, I'll let people know too. So far we are undecided.

Pippin had to go to the vet yesterday. He had some bloody diarrhea, and the vet said it was Giardia and gave him some meds. Apparently lots of puppies get it, and he did just cross country so ..... anyway, he's okay now.

Just a quick post to say that ODS and I made it home safely. The concert today went really well, considering that the students had only about 6.5 hours of practice time for it.

One of the conductors made a remark about how wonderful and amazing it was that these students, most of whom didn't know each other before the weekend because they came from many different schools, came together with a common goal and joined together to make beautiful music. He said that a lot of adults have trouble working together to reach a common goal, and that he could think of 535 particular ones.

And you could tell the audience was thinking, "oh.... SNAP!"

OH!!! Yes I do. I thought I'd have to cut her hair. But I cut the brush instead, all those soft nylon bristles? Cut em right off the comb then she just had to comb those out of her hair!
Lather the head in conditioner-like half a bottle or more-let it sit for a few, then work it in and keep rinsing as the brush slowly comes out. Ask me how I know.

Still, I do admire Marge's ability to set such gorgeous tables.

DH always has facial hair, but its more of the five oclock shadow with a couple days growth on it and less of the beard variety. It drives me insane. He shaves it all off completely on occasion, but looks ten years younger when he does. Its alarming.

Well it was a cheap brush in my case. Probably cost about the same as half a bottle of conditioner. lol

Back from Target, got one milk there and skipped running to the other store.

Lulz! Sounds like an amazing weekend with amazing students. I saw your pictures of folks playing together in the hotel--must have been so much fun to see that and know what an amazing young man you've raised.

Glad you made it there and back safely and that everyone had such a special weekend. Those times really stay with you, don't they? I hope they do for ODS, too!

Wow! Go Sharks!

I'll bet they were all ready to get back on the ice... speaking of sports and money.
