Did I mention dd2 just wrapped a brush all into her hair. Knotting it up and causing us to have to pull a chunk out of her head??? And somehow it's my fault!!!

Ack. I hope you feel better ERK. Hugs to both of you. To all of you, for that matter!
Please tell Cilantro and my spiky friends that I said hello.

Does she have friends or sycophants?
I can't imagine anyone who's not majorly wackajawacka themselves failing to see through that gratuitous self-serving bullcrap. From everything you've said, her strategy for functioning in life consists of terrorizing people into submission and then controlling and micromanaging their every decision to keep herself at the center of all things in the Universe at every moment.
I can see that inspiring contempt or disgust or terror (or for that matter, packing up and moving to a different state) but not love.

I imagine that there's a huge element of control there too. If you're not going to jump every time I command you, then you're not allowed to show even a vapor of a breath of concern for anyone else. I'll see to that.
I guess if she can make sure E never has the opportunity to be there for anyone else, she doesn't have to face the fact that it's her that's the problem, not how much E loves people and she can keep the martyr machine primed and oiled.
You all know how much I love flowers and rainbows and peace and all that but I would give a lot to be able to throat punch her while E watched.

oh DD did that once a long long time ago. I don't quite remember what we did.
OH!!! Yes I do. I thought I'd have to cut her hair. But I cut the brush instead, all those soft nylon bristles? Cut em right off the comb then she just had to comb those out of her hair!

Crepe / tea party was a big success. Great fun making, filling and eating the crepes.
Although we drank more champagne than tea....

I use that one a lot at work. Should probably use it more in my personal life if I ever decide to take on dating again, LOL...

Just got back from Debbie's. I cut enough before I left for parents' house that I only had one card to cut for her ladies at the senior center, so we spent the day making fun cards for us and goofing around. Molly and Sonny had a good romp with Sonny's sister Jessie and the cousins.
Debbie was cracking up because she was trying to get me to copy a card and I just couldn't do it. Changed the colors, moved the elements around, added something that wasn't in the original. Just. Could. Not. Do. It.
We realized this May will be 3 years that we've been getting together every week. 3 pretty big years for both of us. We had a long talk today in between goofing around with paper--I bought over some of the Tim Holtz antiquey looking stuff I'd picked up to work on Mom's scrapbook and we had fun with the non-kosher stuff. Left one of my embossing folders there for her and our friend Jennifer to play with this week.
I was going to have a Super Bowl party next weekend but another kayaker's having one so now I have to decide whether to have a smaller one with my friends or go to the other one. The practical side of me thinks I shouldn't do it but the part of me that knows I have enough other friends who'd enjoy it will probably go ahead.
Dang. I just realized I don't even know who's playing. I know New England, the Giants and Atlanta are out, but I missed all the playoffs at Mom and Stepdad's last weekend and I haven't caught up yet. Awww. My Dad would be sad if he knew I didn't know this close to the game. Usually by now I'd know the spread, discussed the teams and the odds and have asked him to go in one time for me with his bookie.

Oh, the "twue wuv" was in reference to The Princess Bride (now over), but I agree, it certainly applies to Marge's table--and I don't even like pink!
I can't set quite such a beautiful table as I own no china. Sometimes I fake it with my plain white Pfalstaff Heritage ironstone and lots of my great-grandmother's doilies over the tablecloth, but that's about as girly as I get.
Still, I do admire Marge's ability to set such gorgeous tables.
As for Gibbs' rules, love 'em all, 'specially the one about always carrying a knife. I do. It was my dad's.

LOL! I haven't seen the Princess Bride in ages--how did I miss that?
That is a gorgeous table!
I finally bought myself Christmas China when I was 38 or 39. I figured I wasn't ever getting married but I'd started regularly hosting the orphans' Thanksgiving and Christmas feasts and I started collecting the Mikasa Holly Ribbon pattern on sale after Christmas from the Mikasa outlet, a few pieces here and there for 3-4 years. I don't have everything but I have enough to add a few plain porcelain pieces and serve 8.
Marge will be proud of me--I ironed my placemats and napkins for Christmas dinner this year!

Thank you V. My Dad thanks you too, I think, wherever he is. I think he'd be so happy to know I have such great friends.
