It was nice today.

We'd see each other in passing a couple of times a week, but Sunday was about the only time we really saw one another. Sometimes classes would work out that we'd see each other a couple of minutes between classes.

Steve the repair guy couldn't find anything wrong with Phoebe. ODS was able to talk with him in person yesterday. It turned out the problem was user error. ODS didn't realize that his fingers were, in his words, "sliding off" something they were supposed to be covering, resulting in the airy noise he was hearing on the one note. He had thought that the pads that cover some of the holes weren't sealing properly.
So the good news is that there was no charge, since no repairs were actually made.
PH, she eats fiber one bars all the time! And frosted mini wheats are her favorite snack! And we put miralax in her milk ever morning! She just has the ability to literally hold it until her body physically will not let her. We are talking days here! She's doing the dance all every few minutes all morning. Goes into the restroom and doesn't poop. Fifteen minutes later we repeat this process. She'll probably give in and go some time tomorrow morning.

Remember when DS got stitches? When he cut his knee on summer vacation in Ohio where there was no insurance company? And went to ER in middle of night.
I was on the phone today trying to get things paid. Not the first time. Three bills. Some had a wrong ID number.

Our "separation" has had it's good points for us, the most significant being that when he starts yelling or being an idiot I can hang up on him and we take a break and start up again when everyone is calm. We're not very good at that in person, but it works great on the phone. Lots of nice (but not cheap!) vacations, in a very popular destination.
It still sucks, but we don't see the situation changing anytime soon - no jobs for DH up here. His first boss didn't like telecommuting - she didn't think you were working unless she could see you . But the most recent one thought work-family balance was a good thing so DH has been able to stay 5-6 days (or sometimes 10 days - 2 weekends and the intervening weekdays) each visit, and work from home. He's getting a new boss soon - hopefully s/he will be as willing to let DH work at home.
My worst nightmare with our situation is if we're still doing it in a couple years I will be stuck at home parenting two teenagers alone - ack!

When you know the kids and their work ethic then see the science fair project you can tell! DS2s teacher taught 5th last year and she was saying how frustrating it is. She even had parents call ( who she never heard from the rest of the year) complain about a grade. She didn't mind except it wasn't the kids work!
In my opinion, if any child turns in a project obviously done by parents, they should receive an F--and a note should be sent home when the assignment is given so there is no misunderstanding the policy.
But then, I'm a hard-nosed wench.

Dh seems to be doing okay. His "tumor friend" took him out today for brunch and a visit to the salvage yard (dh had a dryer to dispose of). Then friend took him to pick up free food at all the places he knows.
Ended up with more rice, more macaroni, more bread--all the things to help me maintain my voluptuous figure!
Oh, and three HUGE bags of chips and a five lb can of green beans. We will gift our neighbor with the green beans as her church makes soup several times a year.
There was lots of other stuff, but too numerous to list. Just thought I'd tell you about all the "healthy" food offered to the poor. One time we ended up with 16--yes--sixteen! lbs (pounds!!!) of spaghetti pasta! (We gifted it to other family members.)
With that said, I'm bothered by receiving all these free things. For one, we aren't in dire straights--yet--and I don't want to take away from someone who might need it. For another, it makes me feel guilty for accepting it, but "tumor friend" wants to help and this is his way of doing it.
Sometimes I feel like we're on a social carousel. People call. They visit. More calls. More visits. And in between--doctor appts.
It's nice to be loved.
From a distance! (Just kidding.)

Went to the Toyota dealer for my 10,000 mile maintenance (no charge and when I bought the car I negotiated that they throw in a third year of the standard maintenance checks). The scheduled maintenance light came on in Dec but what with Christmas, sister's visit, etc I never quite got around to it. I called early today and they said they were slow, so I went over. Was in and out in 20-30 minutes, not bad.
Then went to Tuesday Morning nearby (outlet store). Got a lampshade for my bedside lamp; old shade was 15-20 years old and the lining had started to rip. I found a nice replacement.
Then home.
For some odd reason it is about 40 degrees here so I think I'll take Shadow for a mid-day walk.

Volunteered at bountiful baskets. it was good because the truck was late so I didn't have to go early. Usually help out once a month or so then grab my basket and bread. Its fun.
DH has his boss over; they are woodworking so I got lunch meat and a few sale things from safeway. I rarely go there are they are so expensive but these were good deals I wanted. And I got a coupon for the ham so 1lb cost me $5 and it's really yummy stuff.
Just called the police on a "far" neighbor who consistently lets his big boxer (?) run without a leash in the park.
In the past few years, this dog has, while unleashed, attacked Shadow twice.
It was almost 40 degrees so took Shadow to the park for a longer walk. There they were, unleashed as usual. I shouted to him to leash his dog and he got belligerent. So, enough is enough.
There have been so many neighborhood complaints about that big dog running loose, and my town has a strict leash law.
I'm shaking. But, enough is enough. The association also just changed the association rules on dogs -- totally because of him.

Thanks! We actually hit some pretty rough turbulence a couple of times unexpectedly. The second time, the pilot came on and said 'we unexpectedly hit a patch of rough turbulence, please return to your seats immediately and buckle up.'
Except that I was in the teeny tiny airplane loo. I thought those handles were in there for infirm passengers. Nope. They're in there so you can grab hold for dear life when the airplane starts bucking like a rattlesnake bit its landing gear or something. Talk about Mr Toad's wild ride.
