Hi. I'm doing OK. Just have been in a weird mood the last several days and didn't want to risk bringing y'all down. Been reminiscing a lot about college and high school days and thinking about "what might have been"s. Kind of bittersweet stuff I guess.

Amber, I hope your dad is back on the upswing now. I'm glad his surgery went well.

So today I made Jacob's 5 year old doctor visit appointment and got the paperwrk from the school that they need to fill out so he can register for kindergarten!

Les Mis. I haven't ever seen it, play or movie, but did read some and got DD's opinion after she saw it. I do understand why movies don't cast the Broadway stars, most of the time. Movies involve close ups and you have to have perfect gleaming teeth and everything else. But - there are stars out there who can sing and act. And that's not who they picked. My feeling is, if they thought the story was that good, why not dump the music and make a movie out of the story? I mean, if the voices weren't that important. But of course, the music is everything. Is it? Then why cast people who don't sing?

Anyway, here's a review you might get a kick out of.

Here's How We Felt About Every Song in Les Mis: A Painstaking Breakdown
I love it!

I can see your point on the singing/acting balance there but I still loved the movie. I sobbed my way through the end.

I have to admit that Russell Crowe does kind of sound like he's singing with Wonder bread in his mouth. Can you still get Wonder Bread? I thought it was manufactured by Hostess.

Good for them. Sad for the guys who I guess did what they had to do to keep up. Given the salaries... who wouldn't roid up for that kind of money?

On the other hand I'd rather spend a day taking interesting classes than watching a football game and I say that as someone who avidly loves football. Why do we pay all those sports folks so much and teacher so little? Says a lot about our priorities, doesn't it?

On the other hand I guess teachers don't have owners or compete in a big stadium. E and Char, you need to learn to place-kick. Or tackle...

I turn the sound way down at work and keep phone in my coat pocket so if I don't remember to check when I get off I'll be astounded 3 days later...

Sometimes I miss the 20th century when things just got to kind of stay the way they were.

If they make the new token a freaking cell phone I'm going to scream.

Yeah if I'm out and forget to take it out of my purse... same thing. I take it with me in case *I* need it, and rarely hear it.

But here I keep it on the desk and would hear it.

Awwww... that's tough stuff to think about sometimes. Although I guess the even harder part is that the fun times always stand out so vividly and they never get older and start leaving dirty socks on the floor or running off with waitresses.

I think that makes those days of remembering so tough because they shine so brightly.

Yeah it was good to see you PH. We're here whenever you want to vent or chat or even reminisce.

MO, you make a good point. I won't be happy because I no longer have to clean up any of Pippin's pee or poop when DD is gone, I'll be sad that he's not standing with his little paws on my legs, waiting to lick out my yogurt cup.

Or spinning full circle on his hind legs for a treat.

VERY much agree with Wrose, PH. We're here. Always.

And Pippin... I'll miss the stories.

3rd grade teacher is out sick/resting today. Her baby is due in 4 weeks. So I didn't have to volunteer today. Lots of stuff to do around the house though.

PH...those guys are just slightly not good looking to me. I can't put my finger on it, but something about each of them makes them physically unattractive to me.

ETA: I wanted to clarify what I said. They are very nice looking men, just aren't quite on point to star in my nighttime dreams.

Flu is crazy around here. Everyone is getting it! I'm wondering if schools will be shutting down for a couple of days as a result.

Yep. Snow in all kinds of places. The Grapevine was closed overnight, well since like 4 p.m. yesterday. That's the section of I-5 that goes through/over the mountains just north of LA. They had snow.

DD was pretty concerned but it's all open now. And no more snow coming. It'll just be cold and probably lots of traffic. So she has gone.

My first thought was, are they gay?

So DD is following the cold. Fortunately, she's a day behind the moisture and it's so far south, everything will be melted when she gets there.
