Probably too late now, but when you do find V in the store, be sure to ask her where the coconut water is. I understand she LOVES when customers ask her that.
Hahahahah. That fad must be over because I haven't been asked in a long time.
...oh and V where the heck do y'all keep the coconut water in there?
I'd be happy to show you the two locations but we both know you'll whine that those aren't your brand so let's just cut out the middleman and I'll punch you in the throat now k?

Dh got a decent bonus and it's just a treat for us. I'm sure it's frivolous but for less than $100 they come right here and I cook them fresh. Not something we do more than, oh, every five years lol

I guess 30 min drive is better than 1 hour drive. It's very nice of you to go.
Stamping! That sounds like way more fun than driving 30 min to breakfast with someone you don't know well...

That must be the hardest part of having kids. I mean, logically you kind of know that's where you want to go and the healthy thing but... it still must be hard.
Maybe that's the biological function of the teenage years: to get parents to the point where maybe they are more ok with that separation?

Nativity scene? Entertainment? Are you going to train them to play little instruments and sing punk rock as a power trio?

OK they are my friends but that sounds yumptious... especially knowing how awesome a cook you are!

Although I was looking forward to a video of a little crustacean punk rock trio... maybe playing 'Rock the Casbah' in squeaky little lobstah voices?

There are two people who I love to work with and we play this game...We answer and help the guest really nicely and correctly btu then we say to each other what we really wanted to say and do.
Like when someone calls from the end of the aisle "Hey, where ya keep your cool whip" I WANT to say "Oh were you talking to me? Oh I keep it in my fridge, second shelf" but instead I simply get up with a smile on my face and show them the spot in the freezer case where it is.
Sometimes tho there are really hilarious customers who just get you right away. One night me and a lady slightly taller than me were straightening the top shelf, no ladder and this short stocky really charming guy walks by and is all "FINE, show offs, way to make me feel inferior" and we look over and he's laughing. Well he needs help finding toothpicks so I tell him where it is and then as he's leaving sort of yell "holler if it's on a high shelf and we'll come help you" we were cracking up!

On the subject of things i get obsessed with, I finally finished Michener's Alaska novel. All 1089 pages with really teeny print. The end was not what I expected. Really great job on the history though, based on everything else I've read or saw on the trip.
When I wrote my senior thesis on frontier development, my advisor made me read Coming into the Country, absolutely awesome book about Alaska by John McPhee, author I passionately love. I went on to read almost all of McPhee's books. So I picked up Coming into the Country again to re-read it at 51 as opposed to 18--I guess I'll see if my English teacher's point about books being very different when you read them at different ages holds for nonfiction as well as fiction. I guess I'm not ready to stop reading about Alaska yet.
That book just hit me so hard when I read it in college--it was written in 1976, so pretty recent when I first inhaled it. It will be interesting to read about Anchorage and the bush areas of the state from a point of view of having been there 36 years later. I actually bought a big trade paperback copy of the book when I worked for a bookstore here about 18 years ago because my old mass market paperback from college was so chewed up and falling apart by then so it will be nice to read a book that doesn't have teeny print this time.
Although I can still read even the teeny print without reading glasses, a cause of annual profound irritation to my opthamologist. I guess that's a good thing since one of the things I love most about living on my own is curling up on the sofa with a good book and Molly's nose on my shoulder.

I've been ignoring all these posts because I just can't fathom my kids every leaving.
Earlier this month I walked past the towels and such at Target (no, not looking for coconut water) and it occurred to me that next year, those might be good Christmas presents for ODS since he's planning to go off to college.

Omigoat I love customers like the toothpick guy. But the other ones... yeah, that would be why God had someone invent the throat punch.
