That's a good link, the RumChata site itself has to have you verify your age before you enter (like all alcohol sites), but this is just a descriptive page.
Oh I think I need that. I may have to scout for a clerance holiday set.

If you have a mini that has the capacity to spin backwards in grind mode you can. It uses the blunt edge of the blade.

Uh no. Each is a metal circle, with a taper holder affixed in the center, and then affixed to the front of the disk is (1) a tree, and (2) a star.

Just kinda weird. And I rarely use tapers.

I loved reading all the CHristmas posts. Our Christmas was not the norm for us but fantastic still.

Dec 23 BIL and SIL land in SF and make their way here for dinner. I worked DH worked kids had no idea. About two hours in the kids were snuggled all over BIL.

Dec 24 I went to work and they all hung out and had lunch and shopped at the .99 store for silly gifts. Zach got DH a plunger for Christmas lol. After the kids went to bed we searched online for best Legoland deal and hotel. BIL and SIL treated all nine of us to Legoland for Christmas. Awesome trip so exciting and exhausting and hilarious and exhausting. But more about that later.

This is why I LOATHE traveling over any major holiday. Any delay and you're totally and completely hosed. Planes are pretty booked the rest of the time but at least outside the holidays, if heaven forbid something comes up you still have a respectable chance of still getting there within a day.

So Christmas morning Dh and I woke before anyone. And just as I was about to sneak down for coffee the beasties woke up. They let me go down and turn on the lights on the tree and they quietly woke up auntie and uncle and then ran down to see what Santa left them!

Omigoat that was just a magical day!!! I was SO happy! And as you can imagine I was out on the train car vestibule with the window open hanging out with my camera like a giant demented labrador retriever all day. Froze my glittens off. It was just gorgeous even without being able to see Denali with all the low overcast.

V keep posting!

I'm heading upstairs for a hot bath--came in from 2 mile paddle on cloudy day with weather in the 40s so I think it's time to warm up a bit. My toes are getting chilly.

I guess I could turn the heat up from 62, that might help too. Usually I'm happy in cool house but with storm rolling up from the Gulf it's pretty damp. Cold + damp = even I get cold.

Sooooo gifts from Santa and Uncle gives the cards that say they each get a ticket to Legoland. Look of confusion crossing the faces was a little sad and a little funny.
Guys, when do you think would be a good time to go to LegLand? They sort of look worried like are my parents going? I thought we couldn't afford this. What is going on?
We tell them we're going tomorrow. THey kinda freak out a bit then wonder out load all the hows. then sort of I think stop believing it's happening. I finally tell Zach that yues we are leaving tomorrow very early from Auntie's house. We're staying there tonight and getting up still in the dark and leaving. That's when it hit him.

Worked through all the presents. Santa didn't forget the auntie and uncle and they were very touched that we thought of them. Auntie told me that Uncle told her that this was the best Christmas he's had in a long time. He loved watching the kids be so happy with their gifts and the gifts they got for others. We had coffee and I made those tube cinnamon trolls just like mom used to make Then my little brother and sil came over and gave the kids gifts, visited, played. Eventually we all got organized enough to head out the door after DH was dear enough to clean out and VACUUM my car...with his new shop vac and we packed clothes and food for the rest of the festivities happening that night.
Got in the cars and headed to Salinas, bout two hours.

We hung out at other SIL's house visited, nibbled on finger food, opened presents then got people organized to sleep places. Keep in mind I worked the day before and now it's really heading into the 9 o'clock hour been up since 6:30 been working and holiday prepping for four days and need to wake up at 3 am. I just want to sleep. Wether on a couch the floor in a room a hall I don't care. I just want to not be in a room that someone is watching tv in. So end up on the floor in the living room. Golden. Jacob is in with the other two boys and he's up and down the stairs. Finally DH has taken the couch and J has decided he'd rather sleep next to me. OK fine. Then all hell breaks loose.

Jacob starts coughing. That terrible hacky throat tickle cough. I try water, cough medicine, lozenges. Nothing buys me enough time to actually fall asleep. 10 :00 ticks past, 11:00. At some point I do fall asleep for about 20 minutes but the coughing starts again. I try to sleep propped up with J on my lap so his throat isn't as irritated. No go, he keeps wiggling down and lies on my lap. 12:00...last I looked t the clock after a second dose of cough syrup and another lozenge it's 1:something. I had to be up in an hour and a half. Ahhh but I can sleep on the ride down right?

So we get into the cars at a little after 4. Need to hit the bank and get gas. Uncle auntie me and J are in the rental Fiat. DH Z two cousins and Auntie are in her Volvo. ANd we're off. And he's coughing. Like every 30 seconds. We're miserable with him and miserable for him. Nothing is really working and he is refusing to take the benedryl that I know will help with the runny nose and throat irritation. He isn't good at pill taking yet. He finally falls asleep out of sheer exhaustion about 20 minutes prior to our first stop. I haven't slept a wink. But at the stop, a McDonalds, I get him to take one, he figures it our and we're all so proud! lol it's the little things when you're this tired. So the coughing calms down. But the non drowsy cough syrup kicks in.
OH
MAH
GAWD
constant commentary and touching and talking and leaning and He's adorable, and I love him and he's doing great being in a car for so any hours but PLEASE STOP TALKING! lol Of course when we get to LA the traffic bogs down, but he's in a good mood and we'd eaten snacks at a rest stop and we're enjoying ourselves. We drove a way I've never driven south so it was even fun and interesting for me. I had no idea California had oil fields. Or that oil fields smell so gross.

We finally, around noon get close enough to start getting excited. We saw a little of Disney from the road and were waiting for the Legoland sign. Oh the clapping and cheering!

So Jacob has barely slept, I haven't even dozed and here we are about to trek around this place for...ohhhhh 7 hours. it was fantastic. We had a blast. It was so fun to see the kids enjoy themselves and the visiting auntie and uncle liked taking them on rides and stuff.

So you know how lots of cities and towns hang various shaped holiday decorations from the light poles and telephone poles and such? Stuff like wreaths or bells or toy soldiers or Christmas trees?
We were driving around tonight and I saw one shaped like a dreidel. Ferreals. Just one, but still it was really neat to see that attempt at including something that wasn't strictly Christmasy.
And on a related tangent, it cracks me up to see snowflakes and snowmen next to the palm trees down in Florida.

I ache from the long hours in the car, half my face is peeling from blowing my nose all the time. Coughing a fair amount. Just want the kids in bed so I can medicate myself into a stupor and fall asleep

Morning Pondies. Hope y'all had good Christmases. Lovely card from Wrose, thank you - adapting that for my next Christmas stamp-a-stack!

Two days before Christmas our phone line went down.
Boxing Day Cobweb had a seizure
27th Phone line repaired but internet still not working. DD was sick (ie vomit).
28th smashed a bottle of RED wine meant for neighbour (who has been away) over the hall floor. Thankfully it missed the stair carpet.

So all in all, a pretty normal family Christmas.

Today, internet STILL not working, despite reassurances from family that all is plugged in correctly. Checked. Wasn't plugged in.

If you want something doing properly...

Going out later to celebrate birthday of one of my team who lost her husband this summer. Everyone's providing something apart from the birthday girl (unless you count the venue). I'm on dessert but really don't feel very pudding-y at the moment, unless you look at my stomach which is beginning to resemble a Christmas pudding in shape.

Agree -- V, what a cool gift your family received. The gift of family experiences and time spent together. Really enjoyed reading about it.
