Jane! It seems I finally got a little energy back.

After walking Shadow this morning, I decided to clean out the car for the trip.

Everything is now vacuumed, sticky/grody cup holders cleaned, dashboard and etc all wiped down.

It needs to stay clean till you get here because it won't be happening again, at least not for a year or so.

Oh, and Steve found where you can plug your iPod in so we are all set for trip music.

We're trying to get the RV ready for the trip, the house ready to sell, decide what we're taking home which will go in storage for a year, and prepping for yardsale number 2 in a couple of weeks. Got some really good fabric on clearance yesterday for the privacy curtains on the boys bunks and curtains over the bedroom windows. Just going to measure a second time before cutting.

Oh yeah I didn't even think about heating up the house. It's almost noon here and still not 70. Supposed to be a "cool" week.

Yay, iPod connection! I use mine every time I drive anywhere, even for a short trip.

WHOOOHOOO!!!

I'll get the LSD downloaded and I do have Edmund Fitzgerald on there--oh--can you send me the list with the rest of the songs? I forgot to write them down. I'm SOOOOO excited!!! I have Simon and Garfunkel's America song where they sing 'Michigan seems like a dream to me now.' When I get everything together, I'll make a mix list for our trip!

You'll have to give me some ideas of what you like. 60s?? 70s? 80s?? I'm thinking it definitely needs some Springsteen, probably some Gordon Lightfoot besides Edmund Fitzgerald, due to proximity to Great Lakes, at least one Bruce Cockburn because if you've never heard Canada's Bruce, I will have to fix that... send ideas! I will program them!!!

And now my lovely, adorable daughters are rearranging my craft room to make room for the barrister bookcase from the living room. Why? Because it gets in the way when trying to maneuver the wheelchair through the door.

Maybe it's time to revisit the book collection...toss out, give away, donate.

sigh... It's like saying goodbye to old and trusted friends.

Yeah some of my books were easy to give away, but others, will not be.

It must be lovely to have them with you.

I very much feel for you on the books. I've taken mine with me through over a dozen moves, and now I've got my Dad's blended into the collection. They really do feel like friends.

I've given a few to friends, some I lent and they never came home. That feels easier somehow--knowing they've gone off on a journey with someone. I guess that would happen to donated books as well.

I still have a few "friends" from my childhood with which I will never part.

Little Women
Anne of Green Gables
Black Beauty
Bambi
Horses (A book my oldest sister gave me when I was going through the requisite "girl loves horses" stage)
A number of Nancy Drew and Trixie Belden mysteries
Reader's Digest Junior Omnibus (much loved)

From adulthood-- of course all my Michener books and Daniel Quinn's series.

Drat. All my John Douglas books
Agatha Christie
anthropology
herbals
gardening
history

Never mind. They're all staying!

We'll be paying for shipping back to the UK so have had to thin out some books. But yes, there are some which, even though they haven't been read in a long time, mean too much to give away for 50c. We'll pay the $1 1lb to add it to the household shipment when it goes.

I have mostly pared down my books since the move to the townhouse. I do have one huge Rubbermaid container of kids books that I saved for grandkids. But for mine, they pretty much fit on one shelf.

I never buy books anymore. I always just use the library.

hi
All happy and healthy out this way.
just paying some bills then turning off the computer and going to read. I have to admit it is far less appealing to come play onlinhe after being at work all day online lol.

Thanks to all of you and some others too I am official for the Avon Walk. Still collecting. Aiming for $2200 which would earn me a hat and I've hit that every year so I'm determined

Love you all. SOme exciting things happening out this way. More as things develop but right now just looking forward to school starting.

Wrose I hope you feel better, too.

Hi Patricia!

My schedule for the week looks like this:

1. work
2. kayak
3. go back to sleep

Got a new project at work. Ran my first meeting on it today. I'm excited to be running a project again--it's been a while. I'll get to learn some minor programming as part of it--nothing hugely technical, but I'm geeky enough to look forward to the challenge.

Feeling okay, guys, thanks. Basically didn't do much. Smacked my alarm when it went off and slept til noon. Ate a little here and there, just taking it easy.

The company doing the pictures sent a form for ODS to complete and give to the photographer, just to give a little info to supposedly help the photographer. Here are two of the questions, and ODS's verbatim responses:

Q. What props are you bringing?
A. Phoebe the clarinet

Q. Special requests:
A. nope

I ♥ that he put the clarinet's name in there. And "nope"... that's my boy. Right to the point.

He really hates having his picture taken, so this is quite the ordeal for him. He is not happy about having to miss part of marching band practice for this.

Is he a senior this year??? Holy cow. I remember DD had some photos taken with her clarinet too. And some in full band uniform!! She had to get into the band room as it was summer when they were doing the pics. Borrow the uniform, put it back....

I know. Wasn't it just a year ago that your DS was a senior?

One of the band moms takes portraits of the kids in their uniforms later on in the season, once all the new marchers have their bibbers fitted, so she can take everyone's pictures all at one time. As much as we {heart} this lady, her attention to detail can be lacking sometimes, so some of the portraits look really great and some look, well, semi-professional. But if we want some of ODS in his uniform, we'll just wait until then.

For that matter, if we could get the boys to cooperate, we could have her do some pictures of the two of them together.

But anyway, ODS didn't want a lot of poses and such, so he's just getting some shots in the tux for the yearbook photo, and then some in khakis and a black polo shirt with the band logo, with Phoebe. Hopefully there will be a few good ones in there so we can buy some.

Every time he needs to have pictures taken I'm reminded of the photo shoot from hell back when he and YDS were little.

Yeah that's funny, I'm putting some stuff into boxes up in DS's room and I had to stop and think whether he was 21 or 22 now. (22)

I'd ask if he's single and how old he is, but I fear neither answer would do me much good, LOL...

Yeah, I'm a geek. A serious major geek. Boat, check. Job, check. Imaginary friends, check.

Life is good.

He is single, twenty years younger than you--and gay.
