Hmmm... maybe the attachment will show it larger and therefore more clearly.

eta: ha ha ha, ok, you have to open it in a new tab or else you get it on a black background.

I can't wait to get that set, PH!

MO is having internet issues.

I could see the tree fine when you mentioned it, I just peered closer at it. lol I hadn't earlier, just assumed it was just a regular pretty tree.

Very nice tho!

Leona is coming over to play today, in a few hours. That's early for her, but her BIL is having a birthday party/dinner and she needs to be downtown at 4pm, so she was motivated to get an early start.

I'm glad that she is coming because it forces me to be in the craft room and make more progress on my Christmas card / recycled tags. I am so late this year. Christmas letter not even written.

Yesterday was a disaster for me points-wise at the work potluck. I took a fruit platter but could not resist all the homemade treats.

The potluck lasted ALL day. 150 or so people in the division. Some were assigned to "breakfast"; some to "lunch", some to "dessert". My fruit was truly the only healthy thing in the "dessert category.

They always said I could take my Vicodin up til the last minute. And yeah I think Advil is okay. They don't want anything that contributes to easy bleeding.

So you have surgery next week! Will you be hobbled over the holiday or a quick recovery or what? Details, girl!

The reason I don't always have them on is because if I turn to look at the TV, it's not in focus if I have them on. lol

But no NCIS marathon today. There's on tomorrow tho.

It's tough sometimes! Well, just start over today. There are weeks when I have to start over every day.

And have fun stamping today! Hmm I think I'll get in and play with my new stuff. It came late Thursday afternoon, and we've just been busy!

I got the new borders scoring plate (upcoming mini) and it looks really cool, I want to check it out.

he specifically said no advil... vicodin yes i could take because it's tylenol and codeine - however, that messes with my kidneys... joys. and i'm planning on drinking some tonight - so that would be fun to mix the two together... hmmmm. where's that bottle?? haha!

i'm having the pin removed from my toe - when i popped it it's hitting a tendon and rubbing it - so permanent inflammation because of it - and he also seems to think i'm developing a touch of allergic reaction to hte stainless steel... joys.

surgery on thursday supposedly i'll be at work on friday - though i'll probably be in a heap load of pain. fun. i'll be in a semi-driving boot for 2 weeks. we have exams the next week so i can sit and prop it up no worries. no travel over the holidays - which is one of hte reasons i did the surgery when i did it - didn't want to have to deal with momster b'itching we weren't coming to see her. we were thinking of a cruise due to our 15th anniversary but couldn't figure out when or where or what to do with the girls. so surgery it is!

i'm trying to decide what to do with stampin up.

i have 200 left for my minimum this quarter.

i don't have time to stamp that much. and i'm just not into it.

i wish i had dropped last quarter and then i could have re-signed and gotten the ink pads for free....

it's a hard decision... do i stay or do i go... hmmmm.

Oh you're right, I knew one of them was bad. No Advil. They have to re-tell me each time!

Well it doesn't sound like they expect it to be too bad, so that's good at least. And way to get out of the momster holiday.

I go to an SU hostess club every month, back in Elmhurst. To be honest I do it so I can keep in touch with my old neighbors/friends Linda & Sue. Their schedules are so busy that after I moved, I was only seeing them a few times a year.

The demo does nice designs for us, and we have fun. We have to spend $25/mo in the club and take turns being hostess. To be honest I have trouble spending that. I certainly don't need any more stamps. So lately I've been stocking up on white card stock, embossing powders, etc. When I do get tempted by a set she uses and buy it, it sits uninked and never opened.

I never started buying all the new colors. No place to store all those new ones. If I had, I would have plenty to spend my money on.

I hadn't put an order in this quarter with my BFFs, but we did last week. And we will in late January. After that, not sure.... we shall see. I seriously am not sure how much longer I will last. But if it's a little short one quarter and I think I see the end, I'll stock up on what I want to and let it go.

That was one of the things I hated about pregnancy: no Advil. It seemed messed up to me that Advil wasn't safe (because of potential bleeding issues), but that it was just fine and dandy for fetus & me to take Tylenol 3 with codeine. 'Cause codeine isn't addictive or anything.

Anyway, I'm glad you have a good reason to stay away from momster. Not glad that you have to have surgery again, though. I hope it all goes smoothly so you can recover quickly.

I still haven't seen a current IB&C to know whether or not there's anything new that I really need. Looking at it online isn't the same.

Drum roll, please...

My YDS, who has been playing B-flat clarinet for just 5 months, and who we have to practically beg to get him to practice it...

made it into All-District Band!!!

21st chair, out of 24, but HEY. He did it!!! There were 48 students who tried out on B-flat clarinet.

And he could move up to 20th chair because the 10th chair also made 1st chair bassoon.

I am super proud of him.

Interestingly, the catalog is more basic than anything. The new system of two large minis a year is different, and they are full of goodies. This was their way of bringing down the cost of the catalog, and making things more accessible.

But of course do we ever really "need" any of it?

E-flat alto clarinet, 2nd chair... making him eligible to audition for All-Virginia band!

ODS had another "you're so pretty" moment today.

We let him drive to the school where the district auditions were held. Last night I went over the directions to the school with him, and we looked at the route on Google Maps together (which was a good thing because he'd guessed he would need to go south on the interstate instead of north ).

So this morning, he got on and off the interstate at the correct places, and was heading in the direction of the school, when he saw his band teacher driving along. He figured she knew where the school was, and he decided to follow her.

She didn't go to the school. She went to her house! (She lives pretty close to the audition site.)

But she got ODS back on track to get to the school, and he did get there in plenty of time.

But geeeeeez.

Hey PH, at least it didn't creep her out that he followed her to her house! ha ha ha

I'm sure he explained to her what the deal was. She's level-headed enough to realize that he wasn't trying to stalk her.

surgery on thursday supposedly i'll be at work on friday - though i'll probably be in a heap load of pain. fun. i'll be in a semi-driving boot for 2 weeks. we have exams the next week so i can sit and prop it up no worries. no travel over the holidays - which is one of hte reasons i did the surgery when i did it - didn't want to have to deal with momster b'itching we weren't coming to see her. we were thinking of a cruise due to our 15th anniversary but couldn't figure out when or where or what to do with the girls. so surgery it is!
You know, when DH and I can't decide what to do on our anniversary, we always opt for surgery, too!

LOLOLOLOLO!

made it into All-District Band!!!

21st chair, out of 24, but HEY. He did it!!! There were 48 students who tried out on B-flat clarinet.

And he could move up to 20th chair because the 10th chair also made 1st chair bassoon.

I am super proud of him.
Congrats!

OK. After talking with ODS more about this before he went to bed, I have to say that I was a little harsh on him in the quoted post.

I don't remember if he said he used Google Maps on his iPhone, or if he had a different GPS type app he used, but anyway, this morning he set it up for directions from home to the school (we'll call it THS, for The High School, lol). The directions it gave him didn't look right to him, compared to what I'd shown him last night.

So we looked on Google Maps together on my computer, and he showed me where his phone directed him.

Back in the late 1980s, the county decided the THS building was either too small or somewhat outdated, and they were shifting from grade K-7 and 8-12 schools to K-4, 5-8, 9-12, so they built a new THS about 3 miles away. The new THS opened for the 1989-1990 school year, and that's where the auditions were held. The county turned the former location into a middle school.

ODS's phone directed him to the middle school.

No wonder he was confused!

But geeeeez. Talk about outdated maps! That's pretty pathetic.

That's yet another reason for me to mistrust GPSes.
