I'm going to have to be very careful. Our last visit, we had Varsity on our way home from the airport after a very long day of eating very little, no meals on the plane but he had food and snacks but just didn't eat a lot. A few hours after our wonderful dinner, I was in the bathroom losing it all.

Charlottesville is a gorgeous town. I was so thrilled when we visited the area with my family, in the summer when I was 17, I think? We toured Monticello and I begged to visit the campus of UVA, it was very quiet, no classes at the time, I don't remember if it was a weekend or between terms or what, but we just walked around and soaked it up. OMG, I loved it.

Rainsong, I think you were engaged before I'd had my first kiss!

Well, I was engaged in 1967 but didn't marry until 1978. Two different men.

Were you kissed before '67?

OK, had a good time today. In addition to Motorola Deb, a lady named Sue joined us. Sue has been Deb's friend since Kindergarten.

It was this show, pay $10 to get in.
Jewelry, Fashion & Accessories Show - Home
This weekend was the "small" show. July and October will be big ones at the Rosemont Convention center. We decided to go again in October.

I got:
1. Two clutch wallets - one tan for summer, one black patent for winter. $10 each. I don't take a purse to work, I just throw a wallet in my briefcase. These will be perfect.
2. Two pairs of pearl drop earrings, sterling. One white, one dark. $4 each
3. One necklace and earrings, blue tones for denim. $6
4. Four scarves.
One black with fringe, $5
One white with applique and lace, $9
One vintagey, lacey ivory, $5
One vintagey, lacey blue, $5

I haven't done a lot of browsing around downtown, but there are some pretty cool shops along Barracks Road and 29N.

Of course, I'm pretty partial to Harrisonburg.

You've seen the photo of the football field before the Commonwealth Cup game several years ago (2005 or 2007), yes?

Thanks. It was all below retail pricing.

They keep the office building so cold with the a/c. It helps to have something around my neck to take the chill off. But my pashminas and some of my other scarves are too bulky for summer.

Hey, here's a question for all of you:

Do the interstate signs in your area give unusual fractional amounts of mileage?

For example, one of the signs near here says:

I-64 East
Richmond
4/5 mile

and it just makes me wonder, why did they reduce 8/10 to 4/5 when odometers register miles in 1/10 increments? And it's been that way for at least 30 years, since my sister started at JMU.

Then today I noticed the signs for two different Charlottesville exits gave the distance as "1/3 mile". What the heck?!? Who measures mileage that way? Well, other than the people who commissioned those signs, LOL?

And speaking of "what the heck"...

here in Virginia, the standard issue license plates for vehicles have three letters, then a dash, then four numbers.

Lately I've noticed a lot of standard issue plates with the letters WTH.

It makes me giggle. I haven't yet seen one with an F instead of an H, though.

I've never seen a sign for 8/10 mile or 4/5 mile that I recall.

Usually it is like, Exit 1 mile, or 1.5 miles, or 1.25 miles. Increments of quarters. I'll have to look, I don't remember if they say 1/2 mile or ,5 miles. Can't say that 1/3 miles are common.

Funny how unobservant I am when I've passed those signs a brazillion times.

Best classified ad? Not sure if it's real or not.

SINGLE BLACK FEMALE seeks male companionship, ethnicity unimportant. I'm a very good girl who LOVES to play. I love long walks in the woods, riding in your pickup truck, hunting, camping and fishing trips, cozy winter nights lying by the fire. Candlelight dinners will have me eating out of your hand. I'll be at the front door when you get home from work, wearing only what nature gave me.... Call (404) 875-6420 (404) 875-6420 and ask for Annie, I'll be waiting.....

Over 150 men found themselves talking to the Atlanta Humane Society.

Need to work a release tonight. New search engine deploys on our small business site. This is third (and last) one since I started a year ago. That's a LOT of heavy lifting, project-wise.

Just over 1.1" of rain so far today, and a little over 6.5" for the month of June.

And it's still coming down right now.

I need to move the hose draining the rain barrel, but we're getting some lightning and thunder now. I don't really want to go out in that.

Then today I noticed the signs for two different Charlottesville exits gave the distance as "1/3 mile". What the heck?!? Who measures mileage that way? Well, other than the people who commissioned those signs, LOL?
Ours are still in quarter mile increments.

Except in the mountains, where they say 'go on a fur piece and turn at the red barn with the old John Deere rusting out front.'

here in Virginia, the standard issue license plates for vehicles have three letters, then a dash, then four numbers.

Lately I've noticed a lot of standard issue plates with the letters WTH.

It makes me giggle. I haven't yet seen one with an F instead of an H, though.
We had *** for a while a few years ago until someone clued in the DMV. I think they didn't make the folks who already had them give them back, just pulled the ones that hadn't been issued yet. SOOOO wish I'd lucked out and gotten one of those!

Oh rats.

That's one of those things that if it isn't true, it should be...

My plans to paddle this morning before work this morning got rained out. Had dinner with my friend Janet last night. We talked for 3 hours--couldn't stop laughing. It was great to catch up! I'd tried to plan a surprise birthday party for her but we canceled twice due to pretty violent storms--she lives due East of town and I'm SW so it's a 10-15 mile drive to meet in the middle. Still rained last night but moderate enough that we went for it. Kind of like Wrose and I deciding to go to Oregon on the LEAST stormy days of the week.

Except with way less mileage, redwoods and Pacific Coast...

We brought in another new contractor yesterday so I'm back in training mode at work. Training + all the regular stuff that has to get done. Another crazy week ahead...
