Happy Mother's Day to everyone!

I opened the box that had arrived via DS, and the card he sent. The gift is a "Moroccan" style candle holder, tall - like for a pillar candle - and purple glass and the metal has designs and it's just so pretty! I'll get a picture later.

DD posted a pic on FB of me holding her right after she was born.

Funny how the lantern looks redder in the one pic..... it's definitely purple like the first picture.

My kids must think I like purple.

Oh wait, I do!!!

Yeah a friend of mine in Florida said that she would actually grab her stuff back from someone and say that to them. lol

I think it's a lot "location location location".... I wouldn't mind some of those types in there, it's to be expected, but there was no upside of "neighborhood" feeling out here.

Well you shouldn't have to be in the abyss alone, so feel free to "drag" us all in there with you, maybe we can help you virtually stay afloat.

Marge, I'm glad your re-organization efforts are going pretty well. We have shelves just like yours in our storage room; I guess we've had ours for at least 12 years now.

Jane, I hope your finger is feeling better by now.

V, good for you with all the lost weight, but please please please stop sending it to me.

Wrose, I'm glad your kids treated you well for Mother's Day.

ERK, yay on the successful yard sale.

Alyson, your son's Mother's Day offer made me smile. And as the mom of a percussionist, I can tell you that new bell kits run about $175 - $180. You may be able to get a used one cheaper; you might want to ask the band teacher if he has a former student who's wanting to get rid of one, or maybe your son could ask his peers.

I was sitting at my desk this afternoon, having a text message conversation with YDS when he was on the bus coming home from school, when out of the corner of my eye I noticed movement on the deck.

So I peeked out between the blinds and there was the biggest of our back yard bunnies.

We've seen them go underneath the deck before, but this was the first time I've seen one ON the deck.

I don't know how long it was there, but when I saw it move it was hopping across the deck toward the steps. It stopped at the top of the steps, then scratched its nose, then hopped on down to the ground and around the yard a bit.

Our high school hosted our local Relay For Life annual event this past weekend. The Band Boosters were given the chance to sell concessions, so we opened up our pizza booth and sold pizza, bbq sandwiches, chips, and drinks. We also had a tent set up to try to sell some of our t-shirts and hoodies and sweatpants, but that didn't go over too well.

I went partly to help out and partly to see what the event would be like, because I'd never been to one. I was totally amazed at how many people were there. I got there about an hour after the official start time, and I was super lucky to find a parking space in the high school's parking lot. Other people had parked along the road and at the elementary and middle schools across the road.

But it was pretty neat seeing the different tents and such. The local Hershey plant had the Kissmobile there. Our dentist's office had a tent set up where you could play a game similar to beer pong - but they had mounted bras onto the display board so you had to bounce the balls into the bra cups. ROFL! I bought a luminaria and decorated it in honor of my mom and lit it during the luminaria ceremony.

When the sun started sinking and the air turned cooler, one of other band moms and I went to boil water so we'd have hot water to make and sell hot cocoa. Long story short, that was a bit of an adventure, LOL. After that I helped in the booth as needed.

I had told ODS and YDS that helping the band boosters would be all the Mother's Day present I needed from them. Since the NASCAR race was Saturday night, they came out after the race was over. ODS was a good helper in the pizza booth. YDS helped with moving some of the sandwiches from the band room to the school's refrigerator, and with carrying empty pizza boxes to the Dumpsters, but mostly he was kind of grumpy about being there. Sigh.

The event was from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. The boys and I stayed until about 2:00, when a few more people arrived to help out.

Sunday we went to visit my parents. I'd told them not to expect us for Sunday dinner, because I knew the boys and I would want to sleep in. So we got there around 1:30 or so. We stopped at THE best barbecue place and got some takeout barbecue, and bought buns at their local grocery store, and had barbecue for supper with Mom & Dad. It was a nice visit. My sister A had spent Saturday night there so we got to see her too before she left to go back home.

PH, that Kissmobile is so cute! I've never seen it!

Your relay sounds about like hours. It's amazing the turnout, huh. My kids have volunteered at those for years, I think they started in middle school because you could get the volunteer hours so easily. But they'd stay all night with their friends. I know DS went even after he graduated, the scouts would go and even after that, he'd get there early and help people get their stuff from their car to the field, for hours. One year he was one of the scouts that did the flag ceremony too.

The relay was sad for me the year after my dad died. The kids got a luminaria in his honor so I walked the track until I found it.

My sister texted me at 6:30 my time, which of course woke me up. She was headed to the hospital as my niece's water broke. I got updates through the day as labor progressed. I did get back to sleep for a couple more hours.

Ran some errands, got home, waited. Altogether about 8 hours labor. Not too bad. My DD popped out five hours after my water broke. Now that was pretty quick.

Awww. {hugs}

Because I bought my luminaria on the spot, I got to put it where I wanted, so I picked a spot near the pizza booth so I could keep an eye on it... which turned out to be a good thing because the wind blew it over a couple of times.

LOL. You really don't drive much.

Mine clicked over 12,000 miles on Sunday when we were driving home from Mom & Dad's. It took us almost 14 months to reach that milestone.

DH expects his car to click over to 250,000 tomorrow.

Nope. Most of what I do is close by and DH drives his car 99% of the time when we go to dinner or whatever.

So this is basically "just me." No kids to ferry around any more, either. Even before they left, they didn't drive this car.
