Now I need to figure out what to wear to funeral and pack and print directions, and all that.

Fun day for the closing weekend of spring break. This is the first weekend that has been really spring-like. It got up to 72 or so and it was sunny. Began the morning watching Bella's soccer team lose dismally (0 to 7). And Bella was in the goal for the last 4 goals so she felt SUPER good about herself afterwards. LOL

Then we went to Keeneland for opening weekend of Spring Meet to watch the thoroughbreds race. I cannot recommend Bella's technique for picking the ponies. The guy in the pink silks apparently rarely wins. Thank god I'm not one to gamble.

Race 2 was a claim race and Bella asked me if I had the $40K to stake the horse. It amused me to tell her that we didn't have an owner's license and THAT'S why we couldn't claim the horse.

Just to clarify - if the assignment is an activity that can be done in a group or individually, you give the students the option of doing it by themselves or by partnering?

I banished Bella and her friends from the house and it cracks me up to pretend not to see them as they army crawl along the edge of the living room and sneak up the stairs.

From the giggling I heard, it amuses them too. They better have career plans that don't involve stealth and camouflage.

Yes. Sometimes it's not possible. Labs for instance....I usually only have so much reagent/supplies so they might have to work in groups for that. But if it's something they do by themselves and they prefer to work that way, I respect that and allow them to work solo.

Yeah it was fun. I would stretch to the side to grab my chapstick in a very exaggerated manner so one could go up the stairs. Then I took a long drink of my tea so the second one made it up. The littlest one didn't know to wait for her opportunity though! LOL And she's the giggler!

We had a wowzer of a thunderstorm last night, around midnight.

Shadow scared me to death -- woke me up with his very loud barking. He always barks back at thunder, I guess to see who can be loudest?

Just spent two hours cleaning out the interior of my car. Jeez does Bella make a godzilla mess in the backseat. I wish I could ban her from eating in the car altogether.

That's funny that he barks at it! DH's parents had a dog that was HUGE but very frightened by it, and he would just run from one end of the house to the other!

Well, tonight is our last night of spring break. It has been a very nice week and the weather, especially toward the end of the week, was magnificent. We went to the movies, bowled, went to the racetrack, cleaned up the yard for summer, grilled out, and Bella got lots of play time outside with her friends.

Tomorrow we go back to school/work and she goes back to gym. I've got to get these kids through 7 more weeks of school and Bella has 4 weeks to prepare for her score out meet to go up to optionals.

So, I guess I'll say adieu for now. I probably won't be around much again until summer break. Loves you all!

Yeah I was thinking maybe at 3 a.m. we could do it that fast. I know it took me about an hour and 15 that one Saturday afternoon and I was expecting Saturday to not be bad.

So hey. Today is the DH's birthday. He's basically been a turd all weekend. But we did do some fun things. Bocce today in the morning then lunch at the loudest most crowded spot in town. I think I did relatively well by ordering a bunless turkey burger and side salad and combining it all. It was tasty and I hope decent in calories.
I've been shopping a little here and there for work clothes. Its' amazing how good I look in some things now. I weigh in tomorrow. I'm almost down 25 pounds. Almost to what my license says from before kids and I wasn't lying then.

Was it that brewery/pub or whatever it is downtown? DH and I ate there one time, it was good but yeah the buns are huge themselves. I remember picking off everything hanging over extra and not eating half of it!

Good for you and the weight. I'm going to take a little walk tomorrow in my new shoes and try not to hurt myself this time!

No Walking Dead for DH tonight, no Mentalist (Country Music Awards) so it's quiet. We mostly worked on taxes all afternoon.

Yeah it's the crowded one with street seats down town. I just really really hate all the noise and stuff that comes along with those kinds of places. Luckily we didnt' really sit near other people how the booth was situated.

For as much as I enjoy working with the public I really don't like being out in it the rest of the time.

Did a speedy catch up, probably missed a ton.

I'm an extrovert and hate group work. (Mostly bc group work in school is designed with students of all skill levels and varying worth ethics)It is, however, absolutely essential in order to get students college and career ready.

Char, glad you had a good break. Regarding Bella's math-go ahead and put her in intervention for the last little bit of the school year if you are comfortable with that and then ask for summer material. Then she can kick off next year in a much better place. Glad you had a good Spring break!

E, good luck on your walk through. Guess you've got them snowed into thinking you're something awesome. Love you!

V, glad you enjoy work. Shocked you dig swimmers, but whatever. Perhaps I've taught you a few things about proper men over the years. hehehe

Marge, have a safe trip. I'm sorry to hear of your aunt passing.

Trefoil, congrats on the completed PhD!

PH, your story about the old home was touching. It must be difficult to let that go.

I was only able to look at the last couple of pages, so I'm sure I've missed others! Hope everyone is doing well.

BB I agree, group work is something we all need to learn to deal with. It's just when the desks are arranged so that basically your whole day is "group" time, that's not good for everyone.

And the CEO of Yahoo, getting rid of "work from home" completely, is insane, unless she's making sure everyone gets an office with a door..... yeah right.

Cousins came in from IL (me) NY, CA, TX, and KA (or is it KN or KS -- heck, Kansas) for the funeral. An emotional 24 hours.

Rummaging!

My Kiwi friend used it in an email and it was obvious from context but such a word, I had to google.

Wiki says:

Fossicking is a term found in Cornwall, Australia and New Zealand referring to prospecting, especially in more recent times, when carried out as a recreational activity. This can be for gold, precious stones, fossils, etc. by sifting through a prospective area. In Australian English and New Zealand English, the term has an extended use meaning to "rummage".
