I think you all did a lot of finger crossing. This was the one that as soon as I saw the ad and read the job desc I felt a light inside me. I kind of knew it was the one. I've kept it quiet.
It's a small in numbers company, 20 years old. The brothers started it because they love swimming and it gave them time to be with their families. It's fairly casual. There were people wearing zip hoodies and jeans. It's got a creative vibe. There is room for me to grow and move up. I'll be working m-f 7-4

Will you be doing phone support, email support or web requests (I noticed them all shown as options) -- or a combination?
I will be the first contact for basically everything customer/end user related. I will forward calls, do mail, cover the showroom. Kind of basic office upkeep only that the office is huge with all kinds of staff in there and lots of places to grow into.

As much as I understand your family's need to build up savings, I have to admit that I'll miss you when you're not online as much. But I'm really happy for you. I know you've wanted something like this for a long time.

When do you start the new job?

I start Monday. I will miss my online time too but I will get adult interaction with creative exciting people IRL as a trade off! I'll just have to make it a point to be sure to get on and say hi on a regular basis.

But I had YDS ride the bus. Usually when ODS drives I let him take YDS, but this morning it was pouring down rain and I didn't want ODS to have to deal with making an unprotected left turn from the middle school to the high school when there are still a bunch of nitwits who don't think to turn on their headlights when it's raining. Anyway, it's a good thing YDS rode the bus because he brought home a note from the bus driver. Effective tomorrow, the kids in our neighborhood won't be riding his bus any more. He gave us the new driver's name and bus number and said the kids should be picked up in the morning around 7:20.

YDS will need to ride the bus tomorrow morning. ODS has jazz band practice at 7:30 and YDS can't be dropped off at the middle school before then. So I guess we'll see how it goes with the new bus.

I find it rather abrupt and odd that they are making this change in the middle of the week.
Well, so far, so good, I suppose.

ODS has not ridden the new bus yet because yesterday morning he needed to be at school at 7:30 for jazz band practice, and today after school he had his clarinet lesson.

YDS rode the new bus yesterday morning, but he had an orthodontist appointment so I picked him up in the afternoon. This morning he opted to ride with ODS, but he rode the bus home.

YDS is not good with details, LOL, but I've gathered that there are some kids on the bus when he gets on it. I don't know where they live, but I don't think they are from our neighborhood. The bus comes up our road, picks up YDS (and ODS if he ever rides it again) and the three foster kids from next door, then circles around the road behind our house to get 4 more students, then goes back out to the major US highway by here. The bus turns toward the school, but makes a turn down the highway a little ways to pick up more students who live in a cul-de-sac there, then the bus exits back out and heads toward the schools again. It stops at the elementary school first and drops off elementary kids, and some more middle and high school kids get on (so they basically just use the elementary school as a transfer station). Then the bus goes on to the middle and high schools, but YDS couldn't remember if it went to the middle school or the high school first. (Typical YDS observational skillz )

So even though the bus goes slightly out of the way down the one road with the cul-de-sac, at least it's heading in the same direction as school. It's not like that one messed up plan from a couple years ago that took the kids from our neighborhood through the sketchy neighborhood 3 miles away heading away from school.

The one weird thing is that in the afternoon, the bus does not go to the middle school. So if YDS rides in the afternoon, he gets on a bus at the middle school, rides it across the road to the high school, and then gets on the new bus at the high school. (There have been a few times he's ridden over to the high school and then met up with ODS there to ride home with ODS - but that only works if ODS doesn't have something going on after school.)

But I guess it's all OK. The four nice things are 1) pickup time the last two mornings has been 7:25 - the latest middle/high school pickup since we've lived here; B) arrival home in the afternoon was 3:33 - the earliest drop off since we've lived here; iii) it's a nice, newer bus, and 4) YDS says it's the least crowded bus he's ever ridden on, and he likes that.

So yesterday I had to pick up YDS just before the end of the school day because of his orthodontist appointment...

and I saw one of our elementary school graduates, G (the autistic boy who gave me the candy cane). He and his mom were talking to a woman who I guessed was one of his teachers. I didn't hear what they were saying but it didn't look like a happy conversation. So I played it safe and didn't speak because I didn't want to interrupt. But G and I did make eye contact for a millisecond.

I've missed seeing him at the elementary school. Working with him was always interesting. Sure, it was frustrating sometimes, but I never dreaded subbing for his teachers.

Preach the Gospel at all times... when absolutely necessary, use words. To me that will always be what witnessing means. Not beating people over the head but just living what you believe with that quiet faith and hope of doing better and bringing healing.

As much as I'm discouraged by his stance on gay marriage, I do feel a very quiet and strong hope for the Catholic Church.
BFF took it as a good sign that he took a new name. I really didn't. I read that he might "reform" the Vatican hierarchy. Yeah because there is so much wrong.... change and cover. Oops, is my cynicism showing? You know I was never mad at the church, that's not why I'm no longer a believer. This happened in the last couple years, my anger at what they've done, and moreso, how they've continued to handle it.

Also it's possible, and judging from her smiling face I think VERY possible, that my friend that did the walk with me last year...may do it again this year! Her one worry, I walk to fast. I said I'd walk slower. SHe said I had to stay in the hotel with her too if she did it. Oh my arm hurts from all the twisting lol

Goodnight, V. I have noticed the past few days, that a couple times a day, I just have to sneeze a bunch of times! I figured it's probably some kind of allergy but I don't suffer that much from them, no other symptoms, so I generally don't take anything.

Marge!!! You're brilliant! That's how I'll ask to do it. Then I can do another long weekend in the fall after our trip, maybe around Columbus or Veterans Day.

Good luck with the St Paddy's feast. Your company sure does like to eat! Will there be lots of sugar cookies cut in 4-leaf clover shapes with green icing?

Except that the table they put it on is like 6 feet from my desk so I see and smell it ALL. DAY. LONG.

It's not like they bring it out from 12-1. It is ALL. DAY. LONG.

Yes, they do indeed like to eat. Last fall, the pants that I had interviewed in (late April) no longer fit. They do SO. MUCH. FOOD.

I will give a full report on clover cookies and other goodies tonight

Web hosting companies across the globe will see a serious decline in bandwidth usage and profits will plummet. This will only cause the global economy more problems and lead to massive layoffs, high unemployment, and poverty.

But congrats, V!

It's not like they bring it out from 12-1. It is ALL. DAY. LONG.
Oh dear.

You all see the GOP Senator from Ohio that's come out in favor of gay marriage? Apparently his 21 year old son is gay and told his folks two years ago.

And how ironic that this Senator (Portman) "co-sponsored the Defense Of Marriage Act as a member of the U.S. House in 1996. And in 2009, Portman voted for a measure prohibiting same-sex couples in Washington state from adopting children.

In 2011, Portman's "openly hostile" record on gay rights led to hundreds of students at the University of Michigan objecting to the senator speaking at the school's graduation ceremony."

i am so exhausted right now i could cry.

went to bed at 9 last night. was woken up by crazy dog barking his head off at 11:30. went back to sleep about 12:30. was woken up by a butt dial of a student of mine at 2:30 (horrible story i'll tell ya'll about in a sec). alarm was set for 3 am. so that i could get up, get dressed and cook a nutritious ww breakfast before having to drive 45 minutes downtown to work rodeo shift by 5....

spring break drive back home at 2 pm took 1 hour 45 minutes.

broke down because i was STARVING (i thought I'd get to eat something since my rodeo committee is known for their cookings - not really thinking it was lent and all tehy had was chicken or beef fajitas) so i bought 2 fried fish fillets on the way home. i had the points since i'm just now eating dinner and won't eat again before i fall to sleep probably within the next 2 hours... but hate that i'm eating fried foods. i've lost 5 pounds this week and don't want to derail that....

i'm dying here from exhaustion.

going to work a double shift tomorrow from 5:30 am to 10:00pm so that i don't have to go back sunday and fight the traffic a third time...

i hope i make it.

last week one of my just turned 16 yo students, her mother and her just turned 15 yo brother had their house broken into. the 2 ladies were raped. the 2 men drove them out into the country and talked about killing htem - actually had a gun to their heads but thankfully chickened out. drove them back to their house to clean up the evidence....

the boy broke free got his mom's handgun and ran the men off.

one of the rapist was an ex boyfriend of the mom. they had been together for 3-4 years until he got hooked on meth back in september and got arrested. she broke up with him because of it. he was mad and decided to "pay her back"....

i'm just raw.....
