Yeah mine is with the water bill, every other month. We have 3 of the big bins, probably like V's. But our yard waste bin is just for cuttings and leaves, no dirt, no compost, etc. Wish we had that.

When our tree out front fell over (missing house and fence!), it was very sappy (pine) but slowly DH and DS chopped it up and it went out in the yard waste bin over a few weeks! lol

I'm not sure I could get out of the house that early even if the house were on fire at the time.

How is Steve enjoying it? Will he get to visit the Grand Canyon while he's there or will they be returning him home every weekend?

No fuzzies from the Desert Museum? (I've been wearing mine all winter btw!)

Seriously I don't think they should call it global warming. I think it's more like global weirding. We've had weeks of 20s one night and 70s 2 days later. I feel like the weather is eating peyote buttons and just coming up with random temperatures.

Usually when ODS drives I let him take YDS, but this morning it was pouring down rain and I didn't want ODS to have to deal with making an unprotected left turn from the middle school to the high school when there are still a bunch of nitwits who don't think to turn on their headlights when it's raining. Anyway, it's a good thing YDS rode the bus because he brought home a note from the bus driver. Effective tomorrow, the kids in our neighborhood won't be riding his bus any more. He gave us the new driver's name and bus number and said the kids should be picked up in the morning around 7:20.

YDS will need to ride the bus tomorrow morning. ODS has jazz band practice at 7:30 and YDS can't be dropped off at the middle school before then. So I guess we'll see how it goes with the new bus.

I find it rather abrupt and odd that they are making this change in the middle of the week.
That seems like a very random time to make the change.

I think my Mom was sort of over Catholicism by the time we were growing up. After she and my Dad got divorced, though, Dad always took us to the Passover Seder at his boss' family's house. I LOVE Passover. I love that the home plays such a central role in so many Jewish holidays, but especially Passover. It was always such a lovely evening. Then on the drive home Dad would remind us that in Hitler's time we would all have been sent off to be gassed.

Ah, happy childhood memories...

The folks who pick up your trash would hate my neighborhood.

I just have one small bag (plus teeny tied up bags from the dogs) every week. They pick up recycling every other week and there's always way more in that one than the regular garbage.

I'm right next to you on the stress eating.

I've been trying to bring my lunch to work every day and that's helped a good bit but stress + donuts = more of me to love.

I got to see it! We have a big telly with Bloomberg on (no sound) all day in our office space. My manager sits behind me in the last cube before the giant TV and I turned around to answer a question and saw the balcony on Bloomberg. Mgr asked me what I was staring at and I told him I think you're about to have a Pope show up right behind your head.

He sounds very conservative morally but very concerned with social justice. He definitely had a lot to say about austerity when Argentina's economy melted down back in 2000. I hope that will make for an interesting change.

On our local news, they keep saying that the new pope, choosing Francis, has created an "instant bond" with the Bay Area. Because you know, San Francisco is named after St. Francis. Um, okay but I don't think the new pope was thinking about San Francisco one bit. lol

I agree that seems like a stretch.

I'm kinda disappointed that they chose another older candidate. I mean, I wasn't expecting anyone really young. But someone in his 60s, or at least closer to 70 than to 80, seems like he would have more longevity to his papacy.

I agree, PH. I thought they could/should have gone for someone younger. After I watched it all I got busy but DH says that they were speculating that because they don't want a 20 year pope the South Americans got this one. I know that " God shows them which one he wants for pope' but I'm sure politics play a huge role there.

Tie dye t-shirts came out really well! Then walking home from school DS1 says that he and his friend and said friends brother ( who is DS2s best friend) are all wearing the same t-shirt for Twin Thursday tomorrow. DS2 doesn't have one. So, I found a long sleeve t-shirt which will be too small by the autumn, cut the sleeves down, sewed half the logo then stencilled the white part. Now all 4 have matching shirts! DH cooked dinner for us as I was busy! Well, it was leftover italian sweet sausage tossed with veggies and pasta.

I was just glancing at the news and one of the headlines was "Pope one lung". So of course, I clicked a link and yup, he had a lung removed when he was in his teens. How do they get this information?

Yeah I was thinking, maybe they don't want a long-lived one, but couldn't think why, except maybe "changing times" - but your theory makes sense. They don't know how it'll go, perhaps. A new thing. So get an old one!

You mean gay marriage, gays as parents, and gay adoption??

Yup, adamantly against it all. Deny your gay-ness! The gender equality battle is God's War! Apparently American Catholics don't agree and support marriage equality even more than the general population!

Very, very irreverent and equally hilarious!

I think they call that reaching. Really, really reaching... LOL.

And I say that as someone who deeply loves both San Francisco and St Francis!

I get the vague feeling they're terrified that if they pick someone younger and he turns out to be too <fill in the blank, conservative, liberal, pro-reform, anti-Vatican II> they'll be stuck with him for way too long.

I do think he was, as a lot of folks have written, a Solomonic choice given the church being so caught between desperately needing reform but still needing to preach the Gospel as it's been taught for millennia (or in many cases, more accurately, only a few hundred years, but don't get me started on stuff that came up in the 13th century being set in stone when it wasn't in Jesus' time... ).

Except this time they didn't need to divide the actual Pope.

I love how much the boys are friends, the brothers are into it on both sides, and you're creative enough to pull it all together! I'll bet that will be a happy memory! Not to mention an yumptious supper!

I think we've all hung around with too many Jesuits... LOL!

I have to admit I was so moved that he took the name Francis. I've always felt so called by so much of what St Francis worked to accomplish in building compassion and working for peace. Plus anyone with as many hairy roommates as I've got can't help loving his affection for animals.

Preach the Gospel at all times... when absolutely necessary, use words. To me that will always be what witnessing means. Not beating people over the head but just living what you believe with that quiet faith and hope of doing better and bringing healing.

As much as I'm discouraged by his stance on gay marriage, I do feel a very quiet and strong hope for the Catholic Church.

Yup, adamantly against it all. Deny your gay-ness! The gender equality battle is God's War! Apparently American Catholics don't agree and support marriage equality even more than the general population!
See, to me that's exactly the point of the Gospels: recognizing and honoring the humanity of our brothers and sisters, not excluding and disparaging them. I think American Catholics have hung around with too many Jesuits too.

Well, some of us, anyway... lol.

Just booked ticket to visit Mom again in May.

Thank heaven (speaking of such things) for cheap fares into Boston and cheap Enterprise rentals from the airport there. Debating working one day from parents' so I can keep an extra vacation day. I'll talk to Mom about it.

Fantastic! I googled their site, looks like an interesting (and young) company.

Will you be doing phone support, email support or web requests (I noticed them all shown as options) -- or a combination?
