It's still snowing pretty heavily. YDS was out earlier so I gave him the yardstick and he measured 13" in one part of the yard. He and DH have cleared our driveway. The temperature has warmed up enough that the snow falling now isn't sticking.

The wind really picked up a while ago. All that snow on the deck railing in the photo I posted this morning? The wind took it all off.
Awesome snow, PH!

I hope Rainsong checks in with us to let us know how she and Mr. Rainsong are faring in the weather. I haven't heard anything about her area, but parts of Virginia between her and me got over 20" of snow.

Yeah she's not in the mountains though, so probably not that bad! North of there got less than you did. Which is kinda weird.

I"ve been hanging around. A resume sent in, playing with Jacob. Staying near the bathroom for both of us. Not as severe as my brother but something wicked is running thru the school. It's strange to be really really hungry and also sick. Jacob feels alright but I have terrible stomach cramping

You poor baby, and Jacob! Well, glad it's not too bad, I guess. I've been lucky this year - knock on wood.

Monday nine kids were out from one class. Saturday Zach was sick. Yesterday J and I went from fine to running to the potty in a matter of an hour. Today I know of at least one new kid.
Right now I'm having soup because I'm just so hungry and now my stomach is cramping in overdrive.

I guess this is some nasty bug going around! Wow.

I've been doing well so far this winter, remembering to keep my hands away from my face and washing thoroughly after I get home from running errands. It also helps that my exposure time is limited compared to most people!

Yeah between work and the kids I have no shot at staying healthy lol. THe flu I got that sent me to bed for four days was from work and a ton of people were out over the course of a month. Oddly enough tho Zach has perfect attendance so far this school year.

DD always missed a lot more cos she would get a fever for everything, even a simple cold. And they do not want you in school with a fever. DS would get the same cold, and DH and I and no fever, just deal with the symptoms, but DD got 2-3 days home every time. Sigh.

Quick hello.

I've been home sick from work last couple of days--called in sick Tuesday with a headache that made me want to throw up all day and lie down in a dark room, which is basically what I did. WFH'd yesterday some and left early to go to Dr and WFH'd again today. I thought I had a massive sinus infection--it felt like someone was trying to push my eyeballs out of my head, and horribly queasy. When I went to the Dr yesterday and he said he couldn't find anything in my sinuses and it was probably a migraine. He said they can be that bad and if I get another one to let him know.

Um, good luck with that--if I get another one like that I'll be too busy in the pond out back trying to drown myself in order to stop the misery.

I'll try to catch up over the weekend.

Back from skate night student council thing. One kid with a bruised jaw - he got tripped during the race but picked himself up and still finished in front of several others. Tylenol and an ice pack in bed.

It was roller skating. The only time we get ice is at the convention centre for a few weeks when they freeze it so the U of A Ice Cats get to play their hockey games. And we only find out about their games after the event so I'm looking forward to the boys seeing some ice hockey while we travel.

Day three of no school this week...

Last night the superintendent announced a two-hour delay for today. But this morning at 6:10 I was pseudo-awakened by an automated call from him saying that they decided to close due to the continued bad road conditions in parts of the county. (I had woken up when DH was getting ready for work, and wasn't fully back to sleep when the phone rang.)

The roads in our subdivision seem to be in really good shape, and DH didn't have any problems getting to work yesterday. But there are lots of small country roads in our county and they are probably still presenting problems. To be honest, I thought the two-hour delay was rushing things to get the kids back to school. I'm not surprised at all that they decided to close.

I second that and would like to report we are all back to "normal" here. The stomach cramping stopped around 5 last night. So pretty close to 24 hours for this to run its course. Zach and Jacob still have lower appetites I think because once they eat and their tummies start working it is tender. I know mine is but I know I need to eat those calories so I kinda force myself.

Oh duh! I wonder why I instantly thought ice. Our kids used to have skating days too - roller skating.

I hope you get to see some ice hockey too!

Gosh remember all the old ones? They were all too small - barely could make a layered card.

Oh glad to hear that!!!

I thought of you today. I was going to Target (not why I thought of you) and a mom in front of me had two little boys. She was carrying one of them, he was probably two, and the other one was maybe 4, and holding her hand. Watched her struggle just a little to get the younger one into the cart, he seemed to want to be carried but she was telling him he could help mommy pick stuff out. Anyway, I thought of you with your two boys, just a little bit older now. Made me smile.

I think it was close when it was here, but then again, she knew people who'd seen it at least twice as many times. But now, not so much. If she'd tried to see it more than once on the tour, I might have wondered.

I did listen to the Broadway musical version on my errands today, it's on my iPod.

We survived the short-lived snowmageddon.

Yep, we got 6-8 inches. Snow started tapering off around 10:30 so we started shoveling and snowblowing. Done by eleven. Of course the fact it was melting faster than it came down didn't hurt. Not much left today.

I disappeared because we've had a rough couple of weeks. Hopefully the new meds the neurologist prescribed will help with the seizures. He gave us a sample pack. Can't wait to find out how much they will cost at the pharmacy--not a medicine covered by the VA. At $7.96 a pill, and taking 18 pills a day (for the name brand), I think we'll opt for the generic when the sample runs out.

Speaking of the VA, due to a small inheritance dh received from his mom, the VA is now charging us a co-pay. Got the first bill two weeks ago. $500 for January.

And I'm still paying off the hospital bill, the pathology lab, the imaging center and possibly the ambulance (from Oct.) if the VA doesn't pay.

Joy, joy.

Morning! For some reason Shadow woke me up at 4:30am. I took him out. Then he woke me at 6am, I ignored him. He kept schnuffling his nose into my pillow till 6:30am when I finally relented and took him out again.

Yesterday he had runny poop, so I didn't want an accident inside, which is why I relented at 4:30. But this morning normal, so I don't know why he was antsy. The second time we were out, it was a sleety rain. At least at 4:30 no rain and not zero degrees

Most of the snow should melt this weekend, it will be around 40 degrees both days.

On Sunday I'm meeting Leona and Jenny for brunch and then walking. Rain is forecast, so it will probably be inside walking.

Go V!

I'm still going up and down in the same 5lb range I've been in since December.

Marge, SO glad you got to go and spend the time with the family. I know it must have meant a lot to them to see you there and have the time with you too. And very VERY glad to hear you made it back ahead of the storm. It looked awful. Did FF and LL make it back from Cancun ok or are they still there?

Seriously, that sounds like a pretty intense trip not just emotionally but in terms of all the travel.

I remember your DH being from PA, but small world!

I wonder if any of your and Marge's relatives know one another. That would be a wonderful coincidence! (even if Gibbs doesn't believe in them...).
