Oh no, E. I had to google as I didn't know the name, but then I'm not into country singing. But apparently she was a big star. So sad to lose such talent.

Did I tell y'all that the high school band teacher asked ODS to play alto clarinet in the pit band for the school's musical?

Well, she did, and he did. He had rehearsals all last week and the musical was this weekend. The fine arts department presented "Little Shop of Horrors". The students did a really good job with it! It was fun seeing some of the marching band students and some of the kids we've known for a long time up on stage singing and dancing. The kid who played Orin the dentist - I had no idea he had that much talent in him so that was a nice surprise.

There's Farquaad drama related to the musical too, of course. ROFL I'll share if y'all are interested, but I won't bore y'all if you're not.

Spotted Dick and Digestives and Marmite!

The Marmite was hog nasty. The spotted dick was yummy.

I took a photo on my cell phone as proof but don't know how to get it from my cell to here

The only way to tolerate Marmite or Vegemite, IMO, is to spread it very thinly on a very thickly buttered piece of toast, LOL.

PH - I want to hear the Farquaad drama!

I was a band and drama girl - did all the plays and musicals and played in marching, concert, jazz bands plus played piano for choir. There's always one Farquaad, LOL

No, no, no. You take a teaspoon and scoop out the marmite and eat it straight from the spoon!

We didn't have a band or a football team, but I did sing in Glee Club and in the musicals the drama dept. did, but always in the chorus in the background. Never ever even considered trying out for more; way too shy.

But I loved watching the practices and just being there.

Yes!

I've been trying to avoid screen time late at night because I've been having such trouble sleeping... I'm reading instead - mostly old books I've read several (or perhaps a dozen!) times before so that they're easily skimmed. But alas, I'm still having trouble.

I'm in this weird pattern where I can't sleep until 2 or 3am, yet have to get up at 6am to get kids off to school. Come 9am I'm straight back to bed, check email, then nap for a couple hours... It means I don't get a ton done, yet I can't seem to get out of the habit because that three hours of nap time are the best quality sleep I have!

No, that's what you do with peanut butter, except you use a tablespoon!

DH and every other Englishperson I've asked absolutely can't stand peanut butter - how about you??? Your kids?

Okay, it's out of the box.

The outlet is behind my desk. My computer desk. The rolltop. With drawers and desktop and printer and scanner and .......

Not sure what the heck we did last time.

Spotted Dick and Downton Abbey FTW!

Isn't hog nasty the best description of revolting food ever? (NOT that Marmite necessarily is... or even goat cheese... for everyone, but still...)

Even in corporate America and and academia, there's often a Farquaad. Actually we had several of them when I was in grad school and that's not even counting the grad students...

At least in corporate America they usually get completely worked around if not ostracized by the folks who want to make sure things actually get done.

Oh NO Alyson. That's just miserable. I never understood what hell not being able to sleep is until it hit me last spring. My gyn told me it can be mentalpause related. Would you think about taking something for it? I did for a several months last year and still do occasionally if it comes back. Pharmacist (God bless her) recommended snapping the tablets in half and starting just with 1/2 instead of a whole one.

Being able to sleep again made a HUGE difference.

I'm not a huge fan of taking pills for anything but when nothing else helps, I'm also not a huge fan of continuing to suffer something might alleviate it. Especially if you've tried everything organic and peaceful and non-pharmaceutical and you're still getting zilch.
