We will turn up the heat when we have company, but not by much because if it gets too high DD takes off her shirt, and she's getting a bit old for that (almost 11).

I do occasionally wear socks when the temperature starts going down, though. Mostly not, but occasionally!

DH and I were both raised in homes where only the living room/dining room/kitchen area were heated, and both of our fathers were quite adamant about the thermostat settings. DH's family still don't have the heat on until evening; my dad "let" my mom have the furnace on during the day, but it was never very warm. Sometimes after school you'd find my brother and I at opposite ends of the furnace with our feet up to the only two heat grates in the house.

The kids have just gotten used to what we're used to, I guess.

Not sure if it's a throwback to when we had the wood stove or if it's because his blood doesn't circulate as well as when he was younger. But yeah, I sneak the thermostat down a few degrees when we're there, and wear short sleeved shirts.
Yeah I've been getting hot flashes for over 15 years, I thought mine would be gone by now too. lol

She might not have ever had them bad, though. Not everyone does.

Oh, Kathy, I do not want to hear that (15 years of hot flashes)!

This perimenopause thing is kicking my butt. My cycles are nuts - anywhere from 2 to 8 weeks long, hot flashes, exhaustion. Some months I only have a few "normal"-feeling days...

I keep hoping it won't last much longer.

I saw this on your post, Kathy: Today, 03:16 AM

So did you stay awake late, or are you up really early?

Is your foot feeling better now, V?

If you don't mind my asking, where were you Cyber Monday shopping?

I ordered some things from basicgrey.com earlier today. Everything that I picked was 50% off, except for one embosslits die that was 30% off.

If you can swing it, I really recommend them. The boys have used theirs hard and although we currently have a charging issue with one, I know that when we call/online chat with the rep later on they will either fix or replace very quickly. Their customer service is excellent.

It's been crazy here. We camped! One night, on base so not roughing it but we found out how to work everything. Also looking at replacement cars........ Busy on field trips and volunteering at school, too. Laundry just finished so I need to dash again. Hope to get back later.

Even if I had never had a hot flash, Florida would give them to me.

Just one more reason not to live in Florida.
Or Texas.
Or Georgia.

Pippin got fixed today. Neutered. Cone of shame. lol

He's pretty sleepified now. Been kind of dozing since we got him home. Took the cone off while he's in somebody's lap. Poor little guy.

Yeah, I knew you meant some sort of warm scarf.

I've just always called them all scarves, whether they are knitted or crocheted or woven and meant to keep you warmer in the winter, or silky and more decorative. Except for bandannas because they are in a class all their own. LOL

LOL.

I do have to say I thoroughly enjoyed the peace and quiet today while DH was at work and the boys were at school!

Plus it's nice to be in a home with decent sized rooms.
And two-ply toilet paper.
And beds that are larger than twin-sized.
And a sofa long enough to stretch out on for a nap.
And enough clean kitchen counter space to do more than core an apple.
And two bathrooms, so I don't have to share the only bathroom with 6 other people.

I'll stop there.

Yes it was 3 a.m. Pacific time, my time. I got into bed before 4, and got up around 10:30.

My preference would be to get into bed closer to 2, then sleep til 9:30 or 10. Usually that works well.
