Default New Moon New Year Shallow Pond

Typing this as teeny sliver of the last of this year's crescent moon rises over the pond behind the house.

Welcome 2014 and another year of splooshy friendship.

How's the totes cray cray vintage mayonnaise collection coming along? Any aged deviled eggs on the menu?

Ha ha. No deviled eggs. However, if I see another pan of baked mac and cheese it will be too soon.

ERK, I would happily trade my inlaws' macaroni salad for some of that baked macaroni and cheese.

Received PH's beautiful card today - great colouring and I love that penguin stamp. Thank you!

We have the Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl on TV now. Navy has a player on their team named Wave Ryder. He's from Hawaii. I wonder if he likes to surf.

Then we went to Five Guys and got a burger. Very good burgers. Fries, only so-so.
Peanuts were fun.
Had never been there before either.

I was SO hoping you'd respond that way! <3 you!

I'll be honest, I only watched the last several minutes because DH and I went out shopping.
We have the Alamo Bowl on now and it's as good as over.

Five Guys... Yum.
We've noticed that the burgers consistently tend to be good from location to location, but the fries can be hit or miss sometimes, especially if you're there at a time that isn't a typical meal time.
The peanuts... Well, y'all know I'm a peanut snob, LOL.

No point in ordering the fries unless you grew up on a peanut farm and are fussy.

Hey PH, about Christmas in Florida. How about Christmas in Auckland, NZ, where it's summer now? I just saw a pic of a house with lights, and of course everything is blooming and green and warm. lol

The whole Southern Hemisphere has Christmas in summer! I guess some continents aren't full of Christians, but South America, Australia and NZ have their share.

Hey Marge, what did you get? DH turned into a phone maniac after he got his smart phone this summer. He had the oldest and least used phone for like almost five years, but no more!

Why do I let things like this mess with my plans to clean? Although sleeping through NCIS marathons for some reason is one of the most profoundly relaxing things on the planet so far as I'm concerned. I do feel kind of ready to take on the world this morning! And it's been heaven having a couple of days off to just be home relaxing, even if the original plan was to get 9000 things done. I've gotten about 40 things done, so at least made a good start.

LOL!

I've had fries there that were so good I thought I'd died and gone to fry heaven and also mushy squishy nasty fries that even good peanut oil couldn't save. I think you're right about it being hit or miss.

Our big team manager goes to Argentina and Uruguay every year on the 26th or 27th and stays for 3 weeks. His wife is from Argentina and her family has a house on the beach in Uruguay. They pull the kids out of school for a couple of weeks and he'll be calling in to meetings from the 6th-13th and working half days.

Of course Uruguay recently became the world's first nation to legalize pot completely. SNL did a hilarious news piece on how this would result in stoners everywhere immediately booking flights to Paraguay.

Can't wait to hear how mellow manager sounds next week, lulz! Actually he probably won't but it's funny to think about...

Turns out OfficeMax gets a 17% discount with Verizon. But they needed my badge which was in my briefcase at home as proof.

So I tried to get him to use your Anchorage OfficeMax photo instead but they wouldn't

So the deal was that once I got home with my new smartphone I had to text him a photo of my badge -- so I did and they applied the discount.

I'm working today, but probably only till about 2pm.

Then to Nothing Bundt Cakes to get a mini bundtlet.
Blonde Susan (not neighbor Susan) from the walking group's birthday is Jan 1. So we will meet at Sweet Tomatoes for lunch tomorrow and I'll give her the bundlet birthday cake.

This afternoon at 4pm I am signed up for a Learn How to Use the Phone That You Just Bought class at the Verizon store.

So that will be my exciting New Years Eve I guess, that and watching Ryan Seacrest in Times Square...

So that will be my exciting New Years Eve I guess, that and watching Ryan Seacrest in Times Square...
Dinner party at my friend Stuart's here, though I'll head home early to keep Molly company when the fireworks start. Sonny and Allie bean could care less but they terrify Molly.

Then tomorrow up to New Year's Day brunch with friends from where I used to live in VA, meeting at a friend's house (where they're all staying) about 90 min NE of here. Then Thursday back to work.

The whole Southern Hemisphere has Christmas in summer! I guess some continents aren't full of Christians, but South America, Australia and NZ have their share.
That would be pretty weird since I'm used to Christmas in winter.
They'd probably think the same thing about our cold Christmases, too.
