Shari....what I do when evaluating stuff - just did this with software for work - is make a list of things I would like to have. Give each one a weight of 5...more or less if they're more important to you.
Then rate each place from 1-5 on each point. One should come out ahead.

Mom's best advice - Don't expect anyone to take care if it for you, fix it for you, get it done. Always be ready to do it yourself.
Talked with DH...pretty much the units are neck and neck room size wise, with the cheaper apartment having more storage downstairs. DH decided he is willing to look at the cheaper apartment again and speak with the gal he's upset with. The cheaper is close to DH's work (within 1.4 miles) and it's easy access to the freeway to get the girls to school...like 5-6 minutes on a clear day. It's also set on 72 acres with the Clinton River running through it, versus the other right next to the freeway. The cheaper place also has a spot for the cat box, otherwise it would have to go in a bathroom or the kitchen - ewwww! So, we are going today at 4:30 to talk with the gal again (5th time there), so hopefully all will go well.

Although I would love a pantry and a walk-in closet, I'm willing to buy a pantry and a hanging clothes unit to save $300 a month, wouldn't you? That's a one-time cost, versus every month. Am I crazy? (Emma and Joycie are saying, "Yes, she's giving all her worldly possessions away!!) HA!

I could prolly go to IKEA and clean the place out of organizational stuff - like the two doors and 4 bookcases I want to buy to make a super duper cool scrapbooking area. Also, one of those tall, skinny shelving units that will serve as our communication center.

The new scrapbooking area would not fit in option B, only option A (cheaper). So for me, the decision is a no brainer! HA! I hate to admit it, but we once chose a model for our townhome build that had a place for the cat box...plus, at the time, we had no kids and I didn't like the idea of a sliding glass door out to an end unit patio. We chose the middle unit for more security for me when I was alone while DH traveled 26 weeks out of one year!

Cat box area, cheaper unit, more space for the scrapbooking area.... no brainer!
Shari, $300 a month turns into a chunk by the end of the year.
Hee hee, I read Laura's word the correct way and it still didn't phase me. I'm not very sensitive to that stuff, in fact use it more than I should... which would be none of course.
DIBS ON NAMING THE NEXT THREAD. Just in case I'm out of town or something.
"33 1/3 in a 78 world." What do you think? It's how my ex described a friend of ours and it was perfect. Possibly only us old farts will get it but it cracks me up. Or something else. And thanks, Michelle. That was pretty close.
