Patty, I'd check with the township/city and see what they allow. I'd also get some estimates on updates & improvements and go from there.

I'm going to hit the shower and head to the Mom Cave. Maybe I can get something done, today.

Michelle, sorry you have been sick. Hugs on the MIL visit.

Patty, well, I'm sure there are pros and cons to keeping it and getting another place. You'd definitely have to do your due diligence to see if it's worth it in the long run. Could be totally fun! No harm in research, right?

Pony, sorry E is sick and I'm glad you got a day of respite.

Laura, good to see you!

Emma, I just don't have any words. Can I whine that I wasn't invited to club??

Debra, that whole insurance snafu is crap!! I know it has changed a lot in the time that I used to work in a hospital, but denying someone services WITH insurance is absolute insanity. All the paperwork could have been sorted later. I'm sorry Will and Erin had such a hard time. That absolutely sucks! I agree with Emma - no one should have to go through that here. No one.

As for the missing plane...can't imagine how it's now thought it turned around and could have disappeared in a totally different area. Huh? And the fake passport thing - I had no idea. As an ignorant American, I just assumed all countries check. What's the point in having them then?? Might as well just let every Tom, Dick, and Harry through!!

On a 'oh-so-happy' note...we got both our gas bills. $180+ for the condo and $280+ here. Gulp. When we called to inquire, we were told the condo had been estimated on last year's totals and therefore we got screwed and this bill is correct due to massively cold temperatures, some missing insulation in places, and most likely drafty windows. I think I shared that before. Anywho, it's a great day when you get to pay the gas company almost $500!! Gulp. Turn down the termostat STAT!! We only had it at 68-69, but it's goin' down! Another blanket on the bed (although I already have 2 comforters, a quilt, and a fleece thingie on mine!!) and sweatshirts on during the day. Made DH got to Lowe's and get some insulation for downstairs and he'll add some more when he returns from his va-cay. Lucky buzzard.

Ok, that video that Moe posted on FB about the little kid begging for cupcakes is hilarious! I kind of feel that way about cupcakes.

You got it!

Shari, I'm not looking forward to May. My gas is on budget, and that's when they reconcile.

I think a lot of people will be in a bit of a panic in May, when their gas and electric budgets reconcile. I feel for you!

MIL cannot drive. I am hoping that I can work things out to take her places in the evenings or drop her with friends/family in the morning and pick her up in the evening.

It will all work out.

Let's just saying getting out security deposit back from our other landlord will be great! He said he would mail us a check last Monday. It will also help with other seasonal things we will need to purchase...DH's birthday is at the end of May, so perhaps he'll get a new lawnmower. Not sure I'll spring for the Lawn Boy that he thinks he needs, but we'll see. Maybe we can even pick up a snowblower for next season pretty cheap this spring. Shoveling is for the birds!

Thanks, Debra. That's what we're praying, too. No family drama, no meltdowns, no nastiness. Jay really needs that kind of time with his mom.

Hi ladies! So much for a day off, I once again was called in because "someone" called in sick. I might as well just dress for work every wednesday. That way when she calls me I can just go in vs coming all the way home (from dropping Jake off at school), getting ready and heading back into town. All in all though, it wasn't too bad of a morning.

Good snowy afternoon!

I got to see Kim yesterday!!!!! She made a detour from Lapeer to Bay City to see where her sister works. Luckily I was still there when she popped in to surprise Joanne. Got a Mingler hug and all!

Michelle, hopefully it will go smoothly. Sorry to say I could NOT take my MIL for 4 weeks!! She'd drive both dh and I crazy!

Yvonne, I'm hoping you and Em both feel better soon!

Thanks for the new thread Patty!

Thanks Patti and Pony....
Michelle....there are times when I wish my MIL were still with us to come over and bug me! It is my mom that would be outta her element and causing me anxiety. I aim to please and sometimes it is hard!

Speaking of aiming to please....we have a breakfast potluck tomorrow and i signed up for the main dish type thing. Been making quiche on and off while trying to work. Got a mexican flav one done already and had to eat a BITE (that being a big bite). Pretty tasty. I used corn tortillas for the crust and chorizo sausage with sauteed onions the a rinsed can of black beans and some mexi blend cheese.....pretty tasty if I do say so myself. Thought I'd serve that w/ sour cream and salsa by it. Then have a pie crust one with just bacon and swiss in the oven. And also in the oven are buttered hashbrowns that I'm trying to crisp into the crust and top with egg beaters and ham with some broccoli. Then finally a vegetable one with either no crust or the potatos...depends how this one comes out. I'll send 1/2 to work with Mike and take the rest in for my peeps. Only 10 signed up to come but there will be sweets galore so I thought "food" might be a good option.

Shari....those bills sound killer!! I'd be definitely planning on getting that taken care of. Consumers Energy gives kick backs when you winterize your house better and such I think too.

Anyone here from MIcki? Is she the one that is hoping to move back to MI? I might have two people confused but I know there are a couple our there that are MIA.....but not quite like that silly jet! I saw this morning on the news that they are saying the jet might have gone a totally different direction than they first anticipated. There isnt any radar or big brother watching that would have seen a blip on the screen? Sounds weird too that the Malaysian peeps are changing their story and not real forthcoming with the info and havent asked for help at all! I didint hear anything about the fires but I havent been too up on current events. I do know something big was going down in the burg this morning cuz the fire trucks were going by over and over and we dont have but two of them here!! (and from my last fiasco...no the sirens were not Deric's game this time!)

Patti....I get accused of being a fun-sucker or Debi Downer so sorry if it comes off that way.
My heart would say to follow what you want to do, the worst thing is that it does'nt make a go of it right? My gut would say to not use the house....unless you have extra money you want to invest.

you said you will have to buy out your siblings then fix it up to be what you want for your business on the main level at least. Is it going to be accessible for your "customers" to come to? Maybe something more toward town would be better suited? Buy an old home there and maybe it wont need as much fixing. Plus if it is 25min out of your normal routine you will maybe not be as likely to go by there and putz for a bit and only go when there are more deliberate reasons to. Maybe there is a storefront in town that you could get a start in and then look to move to a small house or use the money to build a small shop somewhere that is just like a nice pole building style?

I think the idea is absolutely wonderful just not so sure if the house you have is the house you need. Although, the Minglers could have an annual get together!!

Jill, Robin and Laura have moved out of MI. I hope both of them move back. lol!

And I was just reading earlier about the Malaysian airplane. And I thought the same thing, the officials sound a bit dodgy.

I think the roads might have been just as bad coming home as they were going in. This afternoon they were wet, slushy and drifty.

Deric is trying to decide if he should drive in for his night class.....teacher said to use their own judgement but the busses are running the WMU kids out to the engineering campus so he's thinking he should probably go.....the bright sky isnt any indication of the roads though.

Got my work done all the quiches are done and cut into squares...I probably cut them too small but Id rather have someone go for seconds then waste. Now I have to go make a wedding card a gal from work just emailed me about and a little baby thing I want to whip up for a friend. oh and 2 more cards to go for the girls coming on Sun. Better get cracking......if I'm still too long I'll go into shutdown mode.

Was going to take MIL to Bad Axe this am, even got up early to shower and go. She called and said that she didn't want to go, since the roads were so bad and the wind was blowing. That was fine with me, as I couldn't see the house across the road from us.

So I did 3 loads of laundry, taped off the room I'm painting for Dan's office, and put on a coat of primer. Then made lunch and came to work. There was a 6 car pile up west of town, and most of them were brought here. Most of this happened before I got to work.

Hugs to everyone!! While catching up it seemed like everyone was in a great need for one.

I was able to give McSusie one in person yesterday! After going to Lapeer in the morning, I headed to Bay City to see my sis, and stopped in to see where she worked, and Susie was there! I did stay in town for a couple of hours before heading home. It was beautiful yesterday and was tickled that I had good weather to travel in.

Holy cow. They are now going to look for debris from that jetliner on its original course per satellite images.
