Well I need to get in the shower. If Dan comes home and I'm not ready, I'll be getting spankings.

Oh, wait. Maybe not a bad idea.

Sorry, it was just there and had to comment.

That IS interesting! I wonder who thought that up. It really is rather brilliant since farmers really need a certain type of woman to live that lifestyle.

This is my third morning to waking up to a dusting of snow. I can handle this but, later, we will need significant snowfall to help the lake levels and groundwater.

No church for us this morning. Jay has been sick all week and his coughing can be pretty serious. Sadly, I'm feeling the facial/sinus pressures and neck gland pressure now. So,we are both staying home and trying to keep from sharing.

The upside is that we had waffles for breakfast. David doesn't work until tonight and he even got to eat with us. I just got a "Good job, Mom" from him.

Thanks for the new thread, Pony!

I love snow too, but science needs to find a way to give it to me without single digit temps or a way to allow me to hibernate during cold temps

Especially since they are putting in an enormous pipeline to divert Lake Huron water. Big article in the paper, 1 customer plans to drain 3 MILLION gallons a day! Who approved that plan?! Frightening as it's just a matter of time before the pipeline is used to supply other areas. I've seen the end result of what's left of the Colorado river. I'm very sad over this. Not current affairs, but at least my opinions aren't political today.

I agree! I would NEVER complain about snow if it could snow and be 45 degrees!

Oh, my goodness! I haven't heard anything about that. Just plain wrong. I thought the Great Lakes organization (can't remember what it's called -all the states that border the Lakes) had a moratorium on that kind of diversion.

Big problem with that... all the lakes are connected. All the governors of the states AND Canada have to approve that. If it's happening, it was very underhanded.

Just did some research... is this the Genesee County water project?

Yes, our paper posted that DTE alone plans 3 million a day. I hadn't heard of this before and also thought the local governments were protecting the lakes. Am I worried over nothing? That would be a relief.

It's going to be a conctete intake at Worth township according to the paper. I know they are already taking lake water out but to me, this is just the beginning of a slippery slope. Lots of drought stricken areas that are going to be happy to get lake water. Northern Californians are none to happy at the California aquaduct that supplies much of the southland. Am I fear mongering or getting on a soap box without knowing enough?

Well, my understanding is that this falls under "acceptable usage" terms. Because it's within the Great Lakes region.

It is still a concern but I'm not sure how different it is from any other municipalities drawing from the lakes now, except, perhaps in volume.

I was better off looking at pretty pictures on Pinterest. I need to get back to my happy place and quit reading the paper.

I'm not sure if it's either. But I know that there is a concern with lowering lake levels. It's like the Ice Mountain people pulling so much water out of that aquifer that it made problems for the locals.

I guess only time will tell if it's a concern. It may wind up being like the California aqueduct.

Michelle, the term acceptable usage worries me. Who decides that. Local to statewide, statewide to surrounding states, surrounding states to ....

Like I said, I need to quit reading the paper. The grammatical errors put me in a foul mood. I'm going to sew and watch something that makes me laugh.

Me, too!

Actually, I do need to get moving. Hit the shower and get a few things done. Can't be home all day and accomplish nothing.

Hope everyone has a great day!

We had been toying with selling the boat anyway but if the water gets any lower, it's a no brainer since we could barely get it on and off part of the season as it is. More crafting money, there's a happy thought.

Rats, Ben grabbed the remote while I was showering and he's watching some nutcase hunt pythons. Time to go assemble some cards.

Sorry, I just have vivid mental pictures of Mono lake in Northern CA that was drained bone dry to supply "surrounding" areas. I will take my foul mood and go now, really.

Hope the sore and sickies are better.
