I have never done sign language with babies before personally but wish I had paid more attention when my cousins little one was learning a few words here and there since we have a deaf client. I can make out some of what he says but mostly staff has to translate.
In my cousin's case her little one was about 1 and a half when she started having her learn some sign language. It was a game to her and was fun so she picked things up rather quickly. My cousin is a cosmetologist and one of her clients would teach her daughter a few more words everytime she got her hair done. However, my cousin is deaf in one ear and wanted her daughter to know there was more than one way to communicate at an early age in case she completely loses her hearing! The chicken pox as an adult left her deaf in the one ear and during her pregnancy she had some seizures and lost some hearing in the other ear. They still don't know why but I know that little one picked it up faster than my cousin did! Teach him early!
My sister did baby sign language with her youngest. She picked up basic stuff quickly--more, milk, etc. Get a book at the library. At preschool they were teaching my youngest.
I got rid of maternity clothes one kid too early! Then I got rid of the 2nd batch! I had just gotten rid of the crib too!
My nephew needs pants so one more bin is out of the house. My youngest is a little smaller than my older 2, so it will be awhile before they would fit him. I didn't realize how many bins I have in the attic. I am going to have my oldest bring all the bins down so I can clear them out.
The school is doing a winter coat drive so I have a bag to go in the morning. It is slow but I am making progress!
Donna ~ the bleach lightened the black stain but didn't get rid of it... But it was REALLY BAD and I don't know how long it had been there... I only bleached it twice... Maybe if I did it a couple more times it would have gotten lighter, but I was impatient and wanted to get it finished before the cold weather sets in...
Natalie ~ my oldest learned some sign language in elementary... One of her classmates was autistic and sign language was the only way to communicate with him...
Pia ~ cool beans about DH getting a company car!!! And good luck with surgery next week... Enjoy your two weeks off and get lots of scrapping & cleaning done!!!
Ducki ~ good night, sleep tight and sweet dreams... And loving the pic of baby Kaylee!!! I can't believe she'll be here soon!!!
Happy Friday Everyone!!!
DH is cooking supper tonight... Seafood Alfredo... Yummy!!! And tomorrow night is kielbasa and broccoli/cheese/rice au gratin for supper... Sunday is DS's last football game (YEAH!!!) and we're having lasagna & garlic bread for supper...
No major plans for the weekend... Still haven't started cleaning the garage... Maybe we'll do that...

No early bed time last night! DH decided at 8:00 that we should put the lajuan (sp??) 1/4 board down first so we had to make a trip to home depot! Oh well, all the board is sitting there now and we got the adhesive too so once the boys start they should be able to get it all done this weekend without any parts runs! LOL
I have Kaylee on my computer at work for my desktop and I could sit and look at her all day! The more I look at the pic I think she might be sucking her thumb!
Leftovers for dinner tonight. I had a super busy day. Tomorrow will be fun. It will only be me and the oldest home. My friends are coming around 1. DH is making chicken soup for us before he leaves.
DH met me for dinner at a local family dinner. He had to work 12 hours 6pm to 6am and I was on my way back from a day at the hospital.
Kinda long so read at your own choice. DSM was put back on a ventilator again this am for the 2nd time in a week. We're just now sure what life is going to bring for her. She went into the hospital 37 days ago for a hernia repair and colostomy reversal. Did well for her and was discharged in 12 days, was home for 4 days and developed pneumonia and was readmitted into ICU with that and MRSA (a tough staff infection in her wound from the surgery). Then she was doing OK for a few days (Mon - Thurs) when her kidneys started to fail then wound up with ARDS (an acute respiratory disease syndrome) which caused her to be put on a ventilator (breathing machine). On Tuesday of this week she was doing really poorly and we were expecting to have to make some end-of-life decisions on Wednesday - she has a living will and does not want to be on life support. When we got to the hospital on Wed she they had removed the breathing tube and she was talking to us barking orders (back to her normal). Then this morning she had to be put back on the vent again. During all this time (since Sat) she has been on kidney dialysis daily. Needless to say this past week has been a huge roller coaster and I'm tired, more emotionally than physically and there has been no crafting this week. I'm hoping that I will be able to craft some over the weekend. I need the distraction. dyk. Sorry for unloading, but thanks/
Love and hugs and prayers to all

Donna I'm sorry to hear your back on the vent again with DSM. I know what you and the family are going through last year about the beginning of December DFIL was admitted to ICU for pneumonia. We went through a lot of long challenging days mostly DH, DMIL, and me. The rest of the family wasn't as luck to have a wonderful employer like we did and have as much time as we needed off! I think I worked 4 days in December and maybe 15 in January. We were from one hospital to another for specialist after specialist. We were told he had 6 months tops and we actually had him for 9 but they were not quality months at all and were very hard to get through. He went in with pneumonia and high blood pressure and high potassium. At final discharge he was on dialysis 3 days a week, still had high bp and potassium, had to have insulin injections, was diagnosed with CLL Chronic Lymphatic Leukemia (think that right spelling), had had at least 5 heart attacks while in the different hospitals they transferred him back and forth too and had too much heart damage to be repaired with his platelet count so low. The day he died they were trying to get his platelet count up enough to be able to do a heart surgery and I think they knew he didn't have much time without it and I think his body was just too weak for the chemo treatment they were trying and he had a massive heart attack....my heart goes out to you but I'm glad you're there for DD

Have enough fun for all of us today those of you that are able to scrap!!!! My new flooring that was to arrive last night after work is now coming Wednesday...so much for unburying the craft room today....poor Bailee is so confused why she doesn't have her chair in the living room to snuggle up in!
Your cleaning has inspired me to get some stuff done of my own around here. But I have to ask before I toss them if anyone wants a stack of Food and Family magazines. They are the ones that Kraft used to send out. I have duplicates of alot of them for some reason. If you aren't familiar with them they are packed with tons of quick and easy recipes, mostly with kraft ingredients. I'm sure they would be super cheap to mail media...just let me know if anyone wants them.
I was able to get 2 full black garbage bags out of the upstairs today. Hoping to get one more done before I go to bed.

Nat ~ doesn't it feel good to get the stuff cleaned out???
Pia ~ how as stamp/scrap day go yesterday with the girls??? Did you get lots done??? And is the kitchen floor still clean???
All ~ Garage still isn't cleaned and won't fit any cars... But I did get the bookshelf stained and varnished and it's ready to move into the house... And one of the weld joints on my Gazelle started cracking last week so DH took it apart yesterday and re-welded the joint so I was able to use it last night... First time I exercised in over a week... And it felt good!!!
And I'm just gonna give HUGS to everything that has parents/in-laws with health problems!!!
We had such a fun day yesterday! I had my niece, and 5 friends. I scrapped and finished at least 15 double page spreads--I used SWAP stuff for all of them. Some were pre-made 12x12 and the others were border swaps! It feels good to get some pages done. I made a bunch for my oldest son, his book is the thinnest. My niece made cards, one friend scraps and the other 4 were stamping. We had lots of laughs. It is so nice to get together with friends. My dh had made a yummy chicken soup in the crock pot for us. My floor is still somewhat clean, so that is a plus. It will be clean until they all get home from camping.
As for exercise, I try to walk everyday, I didn't yesterday though.
Nancy,
Good job on the book case. I have been taking my cleaning in small steps. My next job is the attic. I will be home for 2 weeks so if my husband and son get all the bins of stuff we have been saving down from there, I can go through them and get rid of the clothes I had to save!

Well...my livingroom floor is gorgeous! I LOVE IT! Plus DH & Eric had enough to do the hallway too! Friday after work we found out the flooring wouldn't be coming until Wednesday and I was so disappointed! Saturday morning I got a call it was on its way! Eric and Charli nailed the rest of the subflooring while I marked the lines out for them to nail on while DH was cutting firewood for MIL. We called him home when we were ready for the linoleum (it's a thick textured linoleum and looks like a hardwood floor but a whole lot cheaper) The livingroom is my project for today now...o joy! All my walls are getting wiped down and curtains washed before anything gets moved back in!
So exciting barb! I am selling raffles til 2, then I hope to stamp. I have to finish that calendar swap I am in. I also want to clean the closet in the upstairs bathroom. And I have to wash parts of my kitchen floor. I spilled my coffee on the clean floor-ugh. I didn't have time to really clean it, so I will do it when I get home.
Sounds like you had a great time Pia! I went to an all day crop yesterday. It was a Creative Memories crop even though I am not into CM! My girl friend invited me to go (she's not into CM either). I didn't get as much don as you and there are a few pages that I need to make titles for. I didn't bring my Cricut because they were charging $20 for the day for electricity! Can you believe that?
Nancy, you are still being productive! I don't know how you do it with work being so hectic. Are you still working late hours or has it slowed down?
Yay, ducki! It is so nice when you can fix your house up. I bet it looks great!!
I could invite my friend's sister to give massages. Yours was probably a lot longer than mine. We start after lunch and go til whenever, last night was 9:30. The stores that were having crops closed so we came up with a new plan. This is better and cheaper for all of us. And the best thing is I do not have to move all my crap! It is a great bunch, we all have so much so if you do not have something someone else usually does. We are so good at sharing! Check this out and you can see my niece's card Scrap-Creations

Aw, that is so cute!
I wish I had a bunch of girl friends I could invite over to scrap with.

We get together at Cindy's church and scrap. We all donate $5 to the church and bring food to share. We usually start around 9 and scrap til we are ready to drop! LOL We are getting together on the 13th of November to scrap and that's the first in months. Last time was when we took our trip to Ohio for paper over a weekend and met up with Nancy H.
Ducki ~ Whoo-hoo on the new floor!!! Could you please post a pic??? I want to put laminate in the kitchen, but the french doors leak when it rains and the wind is blowing from the north... Water + laminate = not good...
NancyH ~ Serious, that want $20 for electricity!!! Are they NUTS??? Work is still hectic... I'm ready to retire because I don't see it getting any better in the upcoming years...
Pia ~ My attic doesn't have anything stored in it... But the basement has stuff, and it needs to be gone thru again... I think I'm done cleaning for a while... I haven't scrapped in over a month... I'm feeling the need to be creative!!!

Nancy...
I have a pic on my phone I can send now as a txt msg if you pm me a cell number and you get pic msgs! Who knows when I'll get to a real pic and posting it! There's a lot to do to get the house back together til I unbury my craft room and find my camera! DH making all the molding for around floor out of ash since my doorway frame to the craft room off my livingroom is ash!

Or for that matter if anyone else can take it from their phone to the thread and post it I'll text it to them. I'm in the stone ages for cell phones but I like my flip phone just fine and don't want a high tech one!

Okay these pics were taken with my cell phone which is antique and texted to Charli and somehow she emailed them to me so they aren't the greateset but this is my floor! The yucky register was replaced with a new one too because I wasn't having a crappy color register on my new floor! LOL
Oooowwwww, I love the floor!!! And I love how it looks...
The people that built/owned our house put down the 12x12 squares in the kitchen/laundry room/bathroom... Plus the squares are white, so it's next to impossible to keep them clean... And it's time for something new!!!
Great floor!
I scrapped more last night. Love using the swap stuff. I am working on the 4x4 calendar swap, I am on my 4th of 5 sets. Then ducki's candy swap.

HHhhmmmm, wonder if DH knows how to lay floors???
Since we had carpeting there before we ended up putting down 1/4" lajuan (sp??) with ring shank nails in the livingroom and hallway before we put the linoleum down. It wasn't all that hard to do but I wouldn't of tackled it myself! The kids and I did most of the subflooring nailing after DH put them down cut to size. I drew grids every 6" and the kids nailed everywhere the lines crossed. Basically there is a nail every 6 inches in all directions so that the floor was nice and stable. The nails have to be flush with the board - not countersunk or too high cause either way you will eventually have a worn spot in the linoleum. It was rather insteesting working with the huge piece of linoleum 14 X 22! If you bend it too far anywhere and it creases it's pretty much junk and it will show! Thankfully DH & Eric both have experience in linoleum and Charli and I were just extra hands til it was cut to size. Then we kicked her outside so she wasn't sucking in the adhesive smell with us!

Thanks Pia! I wanted to tear out the carpeting for quite a while now and finally made DH take time for us instead of doing for everyone else! I'm sure it will take forever to get it finished though cause now that my floor is down I'm sure my molding won't take priority anymore and the molding will get done as he has time! As long as it's finished before Kaylee comes I'll be okay but that's his final day to have it done or I'll have to get violent! LOL
I'm guessing we'll have to hire it done... The laundry room is right off the kitchen and so is the bathroom, plus the entryway leading to the garage... So it'll have to be one big piece or they'll have to splice it and make the seams disappear... Either way, I love your floor Ducki and I wanna do that to my house!!!

I'll give you the family's review after they've eaten...
WE have the kitchen off of living room, the craft room steps down out of living room, and the hallway the linoleum is ran the opposite direction (basically used the scrap to do it! LOL) and from hallway there is Kaylee,s room, Charli's room, and their bathroom so we had lots of places where flooring met flooring! We used transition strips for doorways and between rooms. We got them in 6ft pieces and cut them to length. I would have had DH make the thresholds too but I wanted them nice and flat for Kaylee in a walker or when she starts to walk. ...the smoother the better!
I made this for dinner--it is from Better Homes and Gardens
chicken enchilada pasta
ingredients
1 12-oz. pkg. dried jumbo shell macaroni
3 large green and/or red sweet peppers, chopped
1-1/2 cups chopped red onion
1 fresh jalapeņo chile pepper, seeded and chopped
2 Tbsp. vegetable oil
2 cups chopped cooked chicken
1 16-oz. can refried beans
1/2 of a 1.25 oz. envelope taco seasoning mix (3 Tbsp.)
2 10-oz. cans enchilada sauce
1 8-oz. pkg. shredded Mexican-style four-cheese blend
1 cup sliced green onions
2 cups nacho cheese-flavored tortilla chips, crushed (2 oz.)
Avocado dip and/or sour cream
directions
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Cook pasta according to package directions; drain. Rinse; drain and set aside.
2. In skillet cook sweet peppers, onion, jalapeņo, and 1/4 tsp. salt in hot oil over medium heat for 5 minutes or until tender. Stir in chicken, beans, taco seasoning mix, and 1/2 cup enchilada sauce. Cook and stir 5 minutes. Stir in 1/2 cup each of the cheese and green onions.
3. Divide filling among shells. Spread 1 cup of the remaining enchilada sauce in 3-quart rectangular baking dish. Arrange shells atop sauce. Drizzle with remaining enchilada sauce.
4. Bake, covered, for 30 minutes. Uncover; sprinkle with remaining cheese. Bake 5 minutes more or until cheese is melted. Sprinkle with chips and remaining green onions. Serve with avocado dip and/or sour cream. Makes 8 to 10 servings.
I modified it a little. I do not eat onions, so those are out. I was not stuffing shells so I bought little ones and tossed it all together. It tastes pretty good, I will let you know how the rest of the family likes it.
