The 2 I did find out were most definetely boys!

I went to New York City yesterday. I am exhausted and should be sleeping but I am having trouble.

The weather was perfect. We left at 6:30 am and got back at 1am, so it was a long day. We took a boat tour passed the Statue of Liberty, as beautiful as ever. We went by Ground Zero a few times, we went to the globe and eternal flame.

We had some yummy food, but I ate a little too much of it. We did a lot of walking so I think it will be okay.

I lost 2.2 this week. I hope not to gain when I go on Friday.

NYC is not on my list, but it sounds like you had a good day! Give me the boonies and a good fishing hole and that's vacation!

DC is on my bucket list too... I want to see the Memorials and the Museums...

DD went there for her 7th grade class trip and she wants to go back too... She said they saw a lot of things, but didn't get to spend much time at them because they were on such a tight schedule... They saw like over 40 things in 2.5 days... Some things they were dropped off at one side and told to be on the other side in 10 minutes to be picked up... So basically, they walked thru the exhibit and didn't get to spend any time enjoying it...

You could make a trip to this side of the country and do both. It would be a bit of driving. New York is expensive, but you can get a lot done in a day. DC can be expensive but once you pay for the hotel most of the other stuff is free.

I have been to DC a couple times and the most impressed I was was when my cadette Girl Scout troop wanted to spend most of the day at the holocaust museum. They saw the sights as fast as they could, and skipped the 95th Anniversary of Girl Scouts celebration we went for, to go to the holocaust museum. They had been studying in school about the holocaust and really wanted to go there. It was a sad place to go, but I was highly impressed with the compasion my troop showed there!

Again though, big city isn't my idea of fun at all!

I love to visit cities, but not for too long. I am so tired of Boston traffic. Because I head there for work, we hardly ever visit there. It is small and fun. Come visit!!

Tilly and I are going to the CK Convention in Buffalo, NY in June. As long as the hotel has a hot tub I'll survive the city for 2 nights - especially since we are staying at the hotel at the convention center and there will be mega shopping for scrapping supplies going on!!!! LOL

I just went a few Saturdays ago. It was a fun day. I am not sure that the classes are worth it. I took one this time and I was not impressed. I am not sure about the crops, I have never done one. I saw the tables at this hotel and they were round, it would be tough to work, I like to spread out.

I know they put 4 or 5 people at a table but we are hoping that they have free samples and such too at the crops! The Thursday preview one vendors are supposed to come in and show off some of their new stuff! We picked 2 classes that were less than 30.00 and both came with a goodie pack valued at half the class price and have drawings at each class for a bigger doorprize so we decided to give it a try. Both the classes look like they will be informative so I hope they are! The one is making handmade flowers and the other is a card one that's got some very pretty cards that are stamped I think! We figure after this trip we would know if it was worth doing again or not. We will leave Thursday am and get home Saturday afternoon or evening so we each paid for one night at the hotel, and yes, they do have a hot tub! LOL

We will also prep stuff to work on at the crop so we don't need as much room because when we get together to scrap we all have our own 8ft table! LOL No cricuts going to the crops...probably the hotel room though with some folding tables! We have to be prepared if the convention is boring! LOL

The convention is not boring if you like to shop. There were lots of make and takes too, but I didn't do any. Some of the pages looked really great. We only did one day. There were lots of prizes at the crops I guess. It is only a 45-60 minute drive. I went with a group of 5. Be sure to check the list of supplies you need for the classes.

Remember to have fun!!

No Picking! It's not nice! I didn't see any scalloped ones in the picture, but Tilly picked that class anyways! I picked the card class cause I liked the cards and the backgrounds were awesome! It looks like it will teach me something...and yes, sometimes you can teach an old dog new tricks! LOL

The drive will be the worst part 2 1/2 to 3 hours I think Tilly said. She's driving but the riding is hard for me sometimes. We will leave early and stop when we need to though so it should be okay....I hope!

Classic cards from the heart and in bloom are the class titles. You can check them out on the ckc buffalo site if you want to but they look fun!

He ladies, I did post another thread asking for ideas, but I know you girls will be able to help me think of some things here. I need some fundraiser ideas for ds (age 16). He has been invited to the Disney Duals the end of June. Normally he works 2 jobs in the summer but his hours at boys and girls club have been cut and due to the economy and he won't be able to work a large amount of hours at the other job due to fb camps that he is going to this summer. I am trying to think of crafty things that I could do as well. HELP...my brain just isn't coming up with anything right now.

What about selling cards in a local store or salon, or even on ebay? That's about as creative as it gets at 5am! LOL

Natalie,
Could you do a yard sale? We are having a huge Boy Scout yard sale on Saturday. Last year they raised at least $600. Everyone is cleaning out their stuff and donating. My basement is full right now.

Are there other kids too? Right now we sold calendars for $5 and you have the chance to win a prize every day, it is for the school. This takes time to organize.

I think if you sold some small items, when is graduation, can you sell favors or something along those lines to other mothers. The m and m tubes are cute. Also the chocolate lollipops are a little time consuming but easy enough to make. You can get a fair amount from a bag and sell them for $1 each or something.

How much does he need?

Car washes are always popular here, you just need to find a business willing to let you use their water. Some of them are free and then people give a donation. Then there is the ever popular bake sale. I am just not sure how much time you have. If you have a group of kids that would be better. Can they do yard work for area residents. Even if they donate their time, people are very willing to pay them.

Natalie,

What about thank you cards in the high school's colors and sell them in packs of ten to the seniors.

Pia had some good ideas with the car wash and yard sale.

Charli paid her way on all the ski trips for the year with a candle sale when she was in high school yet. Candles went over really good around here. I believe ski club sold home interiors candles.

I agree! I need to get cash for the formal pictures. I was hoping for online ordering. Give me a break, they will only take cash or money order at the prom!

I never paid for pics at the prom! I always took them myself before the kids left, and then went to Walmart one hour photo and knew I had good prints for them before they even got to prom usually! They would go out to eat first so that gave me time to check them out in print, so we could of got them at prom if we needed to. We have woods all around us so I can stand them anywhere and have good background. If your camera has a portrait setting try it! I love that setting on my cannon rebel. It blurs the background just ever so slightly and the pics are beautiful!

I just never liked any school pics ever. I've taken my own kids' as well as many others senior pics as well! I love to shoot fun things and to me the kids all dressed up are fun especially since the boys cringe! That makes it even more fun cause they know I'll shoot until I have good pics so they might as well cooperate!

I think the cheapest package is $30, I will just send some $$. I will take a lot of pictures too. We are going to her house and then to another friend's house for pictures. Then at 5:30 we can see all the kids at the Shriner's Hall for the promenade. That will be fun. I have to get my mother in law and bring her here. Then she is spending the weekend.

Ducki, boys are busy and very active! There is very little down time with them! They are always dirty too, but it is all good. My little one needs a bath every day now, if there is dirt anywhere it gets on him somewhere.

I raised my baby brother and I know all about boys and dirt - especially when DH decides to take him dirt biking in the sulpher pits! I could of beat them both senseless that day, but then I realized they were already senseless to do that and turned the garden hose on them!

My girls were worse than my brother was for dirt because we live on a farm. They never really were girls much....hence the reason prom was so exciting...they were girls! They had to have Barbie dolls to drive their playskool tractors in the mud! LOL
