My dining hutch is clean. Everyone puts school stuff there, it doesn't bother me until the piles get out of control. Now we are working on the table. I am having friends over next week so I have to get the house clean. I put some Halloween decorations out too.

I'll be cleaning out the craft room in the morning! All the baby shower stuff will be heading to the church for the shower! I hope that counts! LOL We had all our meat and cheese and veggies cut up abt 1ish. Thankfully my MIL came up on the 4wheeler and since DH was putting in our new furnace...and still is...she helped Charli and I get things cut up! I'll be so glad when it's over and we can relax! I'm so worried that people that didn't rsvp will show up and I won't have enough snacky stuff. I have 58 that rsvp'd and I have favors for 80 so I should be good but I'll relax after it's over!

ducki believe me when I say I so understand but it seems there is always enough food & drink for everone. So sometime after 5 tomorrow afternoon (that will give you time to pack everything back up & headed home) sit down & relax.

DH was looking at a job opportunity in Greensboro but the job got put on hold. We are in Northern VA now. Driven through NC a lot on the way to Myrtle Beach.

How funny is that. I just went to Greensboro for shopping today. We are about 25ish minutes north of GSO in Reidsville and about 20 minutes south of Danville, VA also about 45ish mins from Martinsville, VA. I'm not sure how you go to Myrtle Beach but we are about 5 miles of off Hwy 29 & about 30ish mins from Hwy 220. Next time you're coming down this way let me know & maybe we can meet.

We usually start on 29 (we live right off it) and then get on 17 to 95. That would be fun to meet!

I would hoping we might move to Greensboro!
Maybe we could still meet sometime on one of your trips. It would be too cool. There are several ladies in the Raleigh area but I don't really know anyone except DD1 closer than 1 1/2 hrs away.

I was hoping to hear how the shower went. We spent the day being tourists in our state. My sister and I took my 2 younger boys and her 2 kids to Springfield MA-it is a 2 hour drive. We went to the Dr Seuss Memorial Garden and Springfield museums, what a fun day. The weather was perfect. The statues are really cool. I wish I had all 3 kids I would have a nice Christmas picture with the Grinch statue.
Oh, that would have been really neat Pia....great idea.
My mom and step-dad arrived by surprise at our house this morning. Of course the house was a mess because we weren't expecting company..but we walked outside and they surprised us with an brand new washer and dryer. I was so happy I cried...and boy does it take alot for me to cry...lol. We have had such a run on bad luck lately that this was such a weight of of my shoulders!!! I love them already...I've never been so happy to do laundry before in my life!!
Pia, that calendar swap looks like loads of fun but I just can't take on anything else that is due in the next few weeks. I'm actually afraid I'm going to have to back out of the 2 I still have left. Tomorrow may be a decision making day for my sm @ the hospital I'm just not sure what to do at this point as far as SCS is concerned. I know what needs to be done with sm's care because I know what her wishes were before she was vented.

The baby shower went very well! Baby Kaylee got lots of goodies! There was only a couple of things that were duplicates - a set of blankets and the diaper bag - fortunately I bought one set of blankets and my cousin bought the one diaper bag so it's all good! I do have pics on my camera but haven't been home long enough to do anything with them...maybe tonight! We unloaded all the things from the shower and left for the garage at work to finish putting a transmission in and got home late.
I am so glad to hear that the shower went great. Only 2 duplicates...wow that is great.
It is sad to say but I have never had a new washer and dryer....so I am on cloud 9!! They told us that this summer when my brother gets home from Iraq that they will be helping he and his wife financially to move back home so they wanted to do this for us. WOW!
I am working on my Calendar pages and ducki's animal funnies swap today.
Hoping to get everything done today so that I can surprise the kids and take them to the zoo and kenefik park tomorrow.

I want to go to the zoo too! I told Charli since she moved back home and doesn't live near the Pittsburgh zoo anymore I guess we wouldn't be taking Kaylee to the zoo! She was so funny cause she said oh yes we will she wants to go to the Pittsburgh Zoo! My MIL was there and said how do you know Kaylee wants to go to the zoo she isn't even born yet and Charli told her shh Gramma I wana go and this way it looks like I'm doing it for her! LOL
Natalie ~ Congrats on the new washer & dryer... You're gonna love 'em!!!
Pia ~ Doesn't it feel good to get everything cleaned out and in order???
Ducki ~ Glad the shower went well and only 2 dups is amazing with that many people!!!
Nancy ~ When do you find out if DH gets the job??? Moving is the perfect time to get rid of stuff!!! If you don't need it, don't pack it!!!
I'm now done purging... I've gone thru every room, every closet, every cabinet... I'm running out of things to get rid of!!! Ok, so If I followed the thread correctly, first is Nancy, then Ducki, then Pia, then Donna, then Natalie??? Whew, that's one hellava road trip!!!
Spent almost all day Saturday trying to get rid of a stupid trojan/mal-ware/virus thingy called Smart Engine... Finally got it removed, but no one in the house takes responsibility for clicking on something they shouldn't have!!! Leave my laptop alone!!! AUGH!!!
I am home alone for a few minutes. My boys are at the dentist. My dh let my oldest go to Maine yesterday and we are hoping he gets home in time for his dentist appt. Our old dentist didn't mind if we had to change at the last minute, I am not so sure of the new one. There is always something. I will have some time alone this week and can start cleaning for real. I am working on little projects right now. I did get rid of some stamps and I have a pile of stuff for the Boy Scout yard sale in the spring. I am having friends over on Saturday so I need to get the house presentable at least.
I also need to figure out what to cook them for dinner, suggestions? I need something that I do not have to worry about so I can scrap!
And yes he does start work tomorrow! I am so excited, of course I have to work tomorrow too. I have Wednesday off and guess what my kids have a 1/2 day. That is just my luck, my first day home alone and my kids will be home before lunch. My middle ds gets out of school at 10:40!
Yep - take out - order it in for your stampin buddies and then you don't have any mess to deal with!
It is going to be cool so I am thinking chicken soup. My dh can cook it for me, so all I have to do is clean the pot. We never leave room for takeout, the table is covered. I could do sandwiches too. I cook the dinner and everyone brings something. So far 2 are bringing bread and dipping sauces, I love bread.
It is so much cheaper to cook and my sister has me doing a 30 challenge of not buying food from restaurants. I have not done great, but I am doing pretty well. Let's just say Dunkin donuts has called my name a few times. We did go out for Chinese and pizza after dh signed his offer letter accepting the new job. We had cut way back even before he lost his job so I am going to try to continue saving money. Christmas is coming!
At the beginning of the year I started saving all the five dollar bills I got. I admit that I did not save every one, but 99% and if I kept one, I tried to make up for it later. Do you know I have close to $600 in fives?!

Wow! I thought quarters in the culligan jug was the way to go...maybe I need to rethink that! I'm a mac card shopper and hardly ever write a check or carry cash so I'm thinking I wouldn't have that much accumulated unless I kept every 5 out of DH's wallet! LOL He doesn't get trusted enough to have a mac card. I make sure he has cash...and not enough to buy a tractor that way! hehehe
MMmmmm soup sounds good... We were in the mid 80's yesterday and supposed to be down to the mid 70's by this coming weekend... Still a little bit too warm here for soup...
I try to make at least one new recipe a week... I'm getting tired of making the same stuff over and over and over... By trying something new, it helps to keep me from ordering take out...
Here's what I have planned for dinner the next 2 weeks...
10/10 - home made rubens
10/11 - crescent chicken bundles (new recipe)
10/12 - fend for yourself ~ I'm gone from 5pm-8pm at football practice ~ LAST ONE!!! YEAH!!!
10/13 - pizza
10/14 - lasagna & garlic bread
10/15 - left overs
10/16 - going to a birthday party
10/17 - cheesy ham & hashbrown casserole
10/18 - Andora's Special Chicken (new recipe) http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/1679677
10/19 - chinese garlic chicken
10/20 - left overs
10/21 - left overs
10/22 - fish dinner at the American Legion (dad is post commander)
10/23 - O'hana
Holy smokes!!! $600 just from saving the fives??? That's a nice chunk of change!!!
Is it even worth sending them to school if they get out at 10:40am??? Geesh!!!
Pia,
10:40?? Wow, what a short day....hardly worth going huh.
I love the $5 idea!!! I'm gonna have to steal that idea for sure. I have a change jar that I keep but boy would the $$ accumulate a lot faster this way.
Also,
PM'ing you the DC number for the package I mailed.
Nancy,
I have been trying to have one new recipe a week, I am going to look at yours. I only plan for one week at a time. I am only at work 3 days a week--2 this week, so I can cook on my days "off". I think I will cook pork roast for my friends, I bought a few on sale weeks ago. I can put it in the crock pot or oven with white and sweet potatoes, yummy!
We are having one sandwich night this week, Weds--my little one is going to the Dr at 4 and then CCD for my middle son (religious ed for non Catholics) at 5:30. DH has to go to drivers ed from 7-9, in Mass. parents are required to attend a class before your kid can get their license.
Back to food, my kids love taco night, I hate it, and pizza night, another I am not a fan of. I just eat leftovers those nights. We have lunches packed for tomorrow. The boys buy lunch, I bring mine and dh is pretty good about bringing his. There are no places close to his new job so he is brown bagging.
The family gave two thumbs up on the Crescent Chicken Bundles... But I didn't follow the recipe...
Here's my modified version...
8oz cream cheese
26oz chicken (I used two 13oz cans, think canned tuna, but chicken instead)
2TBSP milk
2TBSP italian seasoning
2 cans crescent rolls
Looks like I be adding this to the dinner rotation...
And the whole family loves tacos & pizza... But they eat lunch at school every day... It's easier for me than making it for 'em... But I do make a lunch everyday for DH and myself...
When they built the new mall out by the interstate, they closed the mall downtown... It's right across the street from the center of the University, so they bought it... The 1st floor is specialty stores and restaurants... CVS, Taco Bell, Quiznos, a pizza place, a sushi place, a Chinese place, Buffalo Wild Wings, a cookie place and a specialty coffee place... So I have lots of food options at work, but I still take my lunch... Cheaper and healthier... The 2nd floor all University offices...
Our cafe is okay not great. You can get a decent lunch for6-7 dollars. My concern is all the fat and sodium they add. I only work 3 days so I have no excuse. I can't make lunches for the kids so if I don't buy lunch, they can. Dh was pretty good, if he brings lunch 3 of 5 days I am happy. I always cook extras for leftovers. I will eat a pb sandwich if that is all we have! I like to meet friends for lunch on my day off, but there is some tension and we haven't been out. I would like to go out once a month.
okay, I didn't feel like cooking tonight! One kid had scrambled eggs (ok, I know, that is cooking...give me a break already LOL!) and toast.
Another had a peanut butter and banana sandwich. She insisted!
The other fended for herself and I forgot to eat!
I made DS start packing his lunch. He gets charged the same amt whether he takes the two side dishes and milk or not. He never gets milk (hates milk) and he hardly ever gets the sides.
DD2 always buys and eats all of it! Middle schools kids now get a third side to encourage healthy eating of fruits and veggies. She gets all three!
DD1 packs her own. She also gets out at 10:30 on half days (they start at 7:20 though!).
