Yup they left today! They are en route. The arrive in Rome at 7:10am and then a connecting flight to Naples. They will be there at 10:45 local time. She was a lot better than I thought. She hasn't been on a plane since 2001. They are going to Rome in the middle of the trip for 4 days. They have a few day trips planned as well. the bulk of the trip will be in the village. I am just so glad that she is finally going with him!
Okay they landed safely. They had a good flight. The Rome airport was crazy but all is well! Luckily Naples is small so they found their ride easily!! She sounds very excited. I didn't talk to my father. He is too busy catching up with his cousins.
Yep! Traveling to Europe isn't cheap either. That is nice he has been able to go and visit his family.
We bought these tickets in January and I think they were $1200 then. They don't have to pay for a hotel so that is a help. They don't spend much on food either, everyone wants to feed them. The hotel in Rome isn't too bad. We booked their tour bus with tickets to Vatican etc that was 85 euros each. It covers them for 3 days. The long distance bus to Rome is 22 euros round trip, it is a bargain!
Those bus tux sound cheap! I was looking into cruises once and the airport to the ports is a long way and I didn't know what the bus transportation would be like. I would like to one day take a mediterranean cruise some day.
The bus is a great deal, it is about 3 hours long. We bought them a on off bus package for Rome, it includes their admission to things, the tour bus, walking tours, mp3 tours, and the subway for 85 euros. You could probably do it a little cheaper but I wanted everything set before they left. They have an entrance to St. Peters and a bus tour of the Vatican Gardens too.
We saw lots of cruisers when we were in Rome last year. They were having a blast. But they don't get much time in Rome
One of the cruises I was looking at flew into Rome (or where ever the airport actually is, LOL) and the ship departed from Civitavecchia. I am not sure on the busses from the airport to Civitavecchia. I never got that far!
The trains and buses in Rome are pretty good. The people I met were on a disney cruise that went out of Lisbon-I think-not sure. I know there is a train right from the airport to the huge bus station. My parents go into the long distance bus station and can take the subway to the big local bus station and walk to the hotel.
I am ready for my kids to go back. We have had a good summer but I want to get them back to the routine. This sleeping til 10am is too much for them. Good thing they have camp next week so they can get back to getting up early. I am heading to work next week too. I complain when I am there but miss it when I am not. I am off again after next week. My parents still have 2 weeks left of vacation. I will have my sister's kids after next week too. There will be a bit of running around, but if my mother can do it so can I!!
Have you been crafting? I haven't done much, I finished the tins for Susan's swap and mailed those in. I need to print out my swaps and get organized.
How's your visit? My parents are settled in Rome for a few days. The morning was a disaster! All the stuff I printed nothing had the street address of the hotel! They were stuck at the bus station. THen once they got to the hotel, the reservation was lost! I feel so badly! They did get a room there and it is huge! They felt bad for them I guess. They took a nap and feel a lot better. What a relief, I have been a jumble of nerves all day. They are getting dinner and having an early night and then going to sight see tomorrow.
She is having a blast after they relaxed today. I am not sure what happened, next time I'll double triple check everything! They have all the stuff for their bus tours though. They were just going out for dinner and then back to rest. They have been so busy partying that they are tired. The bus stuff is for 3 days so tomorrow to Friday when they leave.
You know I have scrapped the same pictures twice! I have done this more than once. I thought I had printed all the stuff off my kodak camera, but I guess not. I remember I had trouble with a memory card so I printed all those after my bil saved them but never printed the rest. It is all set now. I am going to put all my Disney scrapping stuff away until the pictures come in.
Yesterday I found a magnetic photo album that I had made when DD1 was born. A few years later, I started to scrap and took all the photos out and scrapped them since magnetic photo albums are bad.
I saw the album in a box and opened it and there were still pictures etc in it! I thought I had scrapped them all. So now I need to pull them out and look through the albums to see if I scrapped them or not. I don't think I did because I have the notes from the pediatrician in it still with the pictures.
Nope I am off this week, well I have to work Weds. I had my sister's kids today too. He wasn't feeling great yesterday but I didn't think it was strep. I was expecting the dr to say its just a virus! Oh well. My free day can be on Thursday. I am not sure if I have to get my sister's kids tomorrow. They start school too. Then Friday they do not have school. I have to meet my class at 12:30 so I need to leave early enough in case of traffic.
I haven't! It has been fine really. They were all at camp last week so I worked. They start school tomorrow and Weds. My sister has her hands full so I am trying to ease her burden. Her dh is in Vermont, his mother is really sick and will not be here much longer. It is very sad.
Today I took my niece for an ear check up, then Lucas to the dr. Then to CVS for medicine, squeeze in a few stops at the grocery store, cooking, exercise and then going to my parents to check the house, pick tomatoes and call it a day.
