That's true. It would be nice to have a bigger desk.
The other thing is that where I am now, I sit right in front of the doorway to my office. If I moved, I'd be set back from the door a bit so not everyone walking by could see me. I think I'd like that.

Gives you an exuse to wear jeans and a teeshirts for a few days while you are moving.
Can you get rid of some things or archive old files? How far would you have to move?

I wish! Somehow I don't think the VP would allow jeans and T's!
I'd literally only be moving right next door. I could throw something and hit the door of where my new office would be. So it's not a long distance to move stuff, and I'm thinking I might be able to just carry stuff next door for the most part rather than having to box things up and then unpack them.
There probably is a lot I could get rid of, so that's another reason to move. Forced purging!

Ugh. My cousin just sent out an e-mail about the bridesmaid dresses and said they're $225. I want to cry. She asked if anyone has an issue with the cost of the dress, but I don't really feel like I can speak up and say anything, because I'm sure no one else will have a problem with it.

Not even for moving day? Bummah.

You really have to say something Jess. That's too much. Tell her what you limit is, if it's $100 or whatever. Then simply say she will have to cover the difference. Or ask if she has someone else in mind who could fill in.
It's an awful situation to be in. Does she know about your financial siituation? I mean, she's asking, so she must have some idea it's alot.

It's just so hard, because the odds of finding a bridesmaid dress for even $100 is pretty slim. The last few weddings I was in the dresses were $150 and even that was a stretch for me, but I guess that's considered pretty affordable.
I just don't know what to do. I know she would be absolutely heartbroken if I said that I didn't think I could afford to be in her wedding. And she has no money either, so I can't ask her to cover the difference.
UGH. I just know the rest of the bridal party will be totally fine with it and won't say anything. I just don't want to be that PITA that comes across as a total cheapskate.

Jess--does your cousin know Leslie is available???
LOL!! "Hi, there is no way I can afford to be in your wedding, but I have an adorable friend who loves to be in weddings and will look so cute in the dress!"

Sounds legit to me. Now we just have to introduce Leslie and your cousin.

It seems crazy rediculous. But then, I don't get all the over inflated prices for a wedding anyway. My cake was a discount at $600.
It's insane! I think if I ever get married, I'll be tempted to just make the freakin cake myself. Though I'd probably be cursing myself the day before the wedding when I have a hundred things to do and need to pipe frosting!
I've actually always just planned on getting my wedding cake from a supermarket whose cake I LOVE, but they closed down! So my cheap source is gone!

I want a nice wedding, but there are so many things I know I won't bother with or that I'll look for bargains for.
Like my friend Kaitlyn who's getting married next week. She was getting a calligrapher to write all of the names on the place cards. But before handing them off to the calligrapher, she stamped and heat embossed seashells onto the cards. I'm sure they'll look lovely, but I cannot fathom putting in that time, money, and effort for something that is going to get spilled on and thrown away.

I think I'd rather do the destination wedding and spend all my money on a cool trip instead of renting a hall.
I would love that too, except that I know it would mean a lot of my family and friends couldn't be there. I think it would be amazing to go to the Bahamas and have a beach wedding there, or get married in an Irish castle, but I'd hate to have people I love miss out.

Yeah, but then I would just do a casual bbq when I got back home. Simple, fun food and people wearing shorts and having fun. Weddings can be so stuffy.

My cousin was supposed to do that and never did. He got married somewhere in the Caribbean last spring and we didn't go because it was expensive and supposedly, they were going to have a big BBQ when they got back. But they never did, or maybe we just weren't invited! LOL!

Who typically pays for the bridal shower? I've only been in two weddings and for Laura's wedding, her mom's best friend hosted it and paid for pretty much everything. The only things I did were make the invitations and buy the cake.
The other wedding I was in, the bride's sister and mother threw the shower.
I'm getting a little nervous for this one, because my cousin's maid of honor sent out an email saying that the place they've booked for the shower costs $22/person. So does that mean she intends that the whole bridal party splits this thing??

Wow. Sounds like a banquet. I never been to any kind of sit down dinner or lunch for a shower. It's always been a simple thing at someone's house. Usually the hostess pays. I had one at my best friend's house and another at my cousin's for family.
Uhhh... it sounds suspiciously like you'll be expected to fork over some $$ if you've been told the price.
