Oy. If it's a holiday YOU observe then it's not a day for an appointment.
well he is the only one in his family that married Jewish and observes the holidays (not that HE is the one observing it and following the rules and traditions we are SUPPOSED to follow )
ICK, the steroids taste sooooo bitter. BLECH!!! However it has made me feel better. Hope I can go to services tomorrow and Friday. The Rabbi called me before to see how I was doing as well as a member from the Chesed comittee. The Chesed committe is a committee from the synagogue who will set up meals and come over to visit and do things for sick people. I assured them both I was fine and thanked them for calling. I know it was due to the new President of the Synagogue who is a friend of ours, he is on Glenn's softball team and I worked with his wife in the preschool. We went to dinner at their house a few weeks ago for Shabbat and when she heard I was sick called right away to see how I was doing and invited Glenn and the boys over for dinner tonight (she invited me too, but knows I am sick and can't make it). They are such lovely people and I was so thrilled when I heard he was President. He is also good friends with my boss and helped us a lot and has done a lot of work for the Preschool in us getting our license.
I'm thinking Mexican for lunch. There's a yummy place close to the DL office that we like. Free cheese sauce (not quite queso) and they season their chips so yummy!!
Yummy IS the word today!
I think on the island, Yummy is the word almost every day!

calls to remind me to make an appointment for Brandon to go to Dr to get the wart removed from his finger and for his yearly checkup. Wants me to make a Dr appt Thursday. Hello it's Rosh Hashanah, a religious holiday!!! He replies, "So, we don't do anything in the afternoon after services". I replied that just because his family doesn't observe the holiday (his mother was so proud to tell us she plans on working Thursday and Friday) doesn't mean that we don't and I am not making an appointment for him to go to Dr on Rosh Hashanah. He replies, "So when do we have time to go?" *****HOLE!!!
Would he even be the one taking Brandon? I say make the appointment for whenever works for YOU!

I need to start buying ground turkey. We get a real lean gb from Costco but I guess the turkey would be better.
It depends. Watch for ground turkey breast. A lot of the ground turkeys have dark meat mixed in, and sometimes skin too, so they end up not being much healthier than a leaner ground beef.

This weirds me out. Does the label warn you?

I don't know if it specifically mentions the skin, but you can easily tell which ones to stay away from. Regular ground turkey will say 85% lean or something like that, and it's a safe bet that that contains dark meat and possibly some skin. Lean ground turkey is the next best choice, and ground turkey breast is the best.

Do you LOVE cilantro, or di dyou buy a bunch and need to use it all up?
LOL! I had bought some to make the shrimp and the corn, but they sell it in such big packages that I decided to make the chicken salad to use it up. I do love cilantro though.
I'm trying to be better about not wasting things and making multiple things with a few of the same ingredients to use them up.

I didn't know that, but I do buy the ground turkey breast
we grow it in our garden. Wish I lived closer I could have brought you some fresh stuff
I really want to grow some herbs next summer. Basil, cilantro, maybe some parsley. Sometimes it's really hard to use up the big packages of it and I would love to just be able to clip off what I need.

And i was thinking she was a show off and making the rest of us look bad!
Awwww, no, of course not
There is a Local Produce stand on the way home from C's school and Mom has Tomatoes finally...so I have been cookin!
Connor LOVES peaches so we have to stop every few days to grab a few.
Last week I bought fresh Edemame and Corn and made Succatash, yesterday it was zucchini and yellow squash to use with my tomatoes that were getting towards the end. (Just sauted the squash in EVOO, added the tomatoes and some soy sauce, let it cook down until the tomatoes were soft and added shredded cheddar. I eat it with Corn Tortillas)
Plus in between those I made my Skillet Cauliflower and Green Beans
One of my friends from church had major flooding in her house today. About 4 FEET of muddy water and debris mixed in. We drove by the park that backs up to their house and the creek that runs through it was just flowing.
Most everything has been damaged--clothes, furniture, photo albums.

Last night was a marathon happy hour. I guess more like happy night. We were there until 11:00!
Vinny totally loves us. For 12 martinis, 8 shots, 5 beers, pizza, and wings, our bill only came to $82. He didn't charge us for any of the shots (SoCo & lime for the first round, Cafe Patron for the second), the wings, at least a couple of the beers, and a few of the martinis. It's nice to be friends with the bartender!
