LOL, I know. I don't think I can do it. I do have internet on my phone so I wouldn't be totally cut off, but I use my laptop SO MUCH and it's just not the same with the phone.

My newly reorganized agency (January we went from Sheriff's Department to Unified Police Department) is considering opting out of Social Security.
We're having a big vote next week. I honestly don't know which way to vote. I'm in the middle of my working career. I have enough years in to still qualify for SS when I retire (if it's still around) and yet not enough to guarantee the maximum payment.
If we vote to opt out, what my agency would pay to SS will go into a 401K type thing. I will get the $$ I pay into SS in my paycheck. Then I have to decide if I want to invest it.
Some of these fools I work with, think it's going to be a raise. Hello? This is your retirement. You can't spend it all.
People are so foolish about this kind of thing.
That's a tough vote. I'm not sure which way I would want to go. I think that with social security having such a risky future, I might be inclined to vote to opt out and then invest the additional money in my paycheck.

Power outage. Sometimes it sucks to be the Facilities Manager. He debated whether or not he should go in then or wait until the power came back on and then go in to make sure everything came back online okay. He decided to go ahead and go in. Wrong choice. It was 5 hours before the power came back on.
Ah, gotcha. I guess I don't entirely know what Ed does, so I didn't realize that his job would be affected by something like that!

Maybe you should ask Leslie to ask her DH about this. The City of Arlington has been out of SS for a long time. The retirement plan is through TMRS (Texas Municipal Retirement System) and they have a 401K and a 457 plan too. As far as I know it's a good thing.

my dh is a jerkwad too. Had the nerve to ask me if I was going into work today and when I replied no, tells me "well if you are feeling up to it, can you fold the basket of clothes upstairs by the couch". Then tells me it's gonna be hard for him to leave work early to come home and get the boys and go all the way back for services tonight (it is Rosh Hashanah). Poor baby! Not once asked me how I am feeling, if I needed anything. He is on my list!

Oh! I got exciting news last night! My friend Nicole got engaged over the weekend! She was so nonchalant about it and managed to wait the whole day to tell us at happy hour. If that were me, I would have been in everyone's office first thing in the morning showing off my ring!
The ring is absolutely gorgeous. The diamond was in a ring that her fiance's grandfather gave to his grandmother for their 25th anniversary. He had a new setting created for it, but I think that's so special that he used that diamond.
So I have a fun wedding to look forward to next fall! They're hoping to have it in one of the wineries north of here. Possibly the one he proposed at.

So at happy hour we were celebrating an engagement, my friend Kaitlyn's wedding (yesterday was her first day back at work after her honeymoon) and my friend Rachel's divorce, which is being finalized today.
Even Vinny commented that that was quite the range of celebrations and then asked if anyone was knocked up to complete the cycle. LOL!

Has anyone heard of sugaring? Apparently it's a slightly less painful, but equally effective, form of waxing. Maria was telling us about it so I think she and I might go in a few weeks.

Tracy, do you have the option(not really the word I am looking for) to contact your DR teacher about the SS change thing? Did you have a teacher or do it online, I can't remember. Look around on DR's site and see if there is any info or suggestions.

All area schools have a 2 hour delay today due to the rain/flooding. Poor Ed had to go into work last night. The main highway that connects all the towns around here was closed - under 4 1/2 FEET of water!!!! In the 20+ years I've lived here I've never seen that! Something tells me that the civil engineers that designed the new six lane highway didn't take into consideration how fast and furious rain can fall in Central TX. We never had that problem back in 2007 before the road construction was complete and we had multiple floods in a two month time frame.
Oh gosh! I saw on the news this morning that you and TX had 5+" of rain already in less than 24 hours w/ another 5 more predicted for many areas!
When it comes all at once that fast the creeks & roads can't keep up.
Like us in March.

When I showed Shane a picture of the leather headboard he asked if we were going to throw it away. Now, it's kinda cheesy...but it's not horrible. I don't think it's perfect for a cabin. I was thinking I could Craig's list it. Maybe make some gas money?

not yet. As of right now it's just a system that has the potential to become a storm. There have been some insane systems moving around out there and just now is the first time that there hasn't really been anything. The system that is out there now is really far away still so there is some hope that it will stay away.

my dh is a jerkwad too. I am doing OK, chest hurts A LOT. Dr says I have pleurisy and possibly gall bladder symptoms. Took tons of scans today with the ultrasound. Told me I could leave and I was getting into the car and they ran out and asked me to come back for more scans. Should have the results tomorrow.

Last night was a marathon happy hour. I guess more like happy night. We were there until 11:00!
Vinny totally loves us. For 12 martinis, 8 shots, 5 beers, pizza, and wings, our bill only came to $82. He didn't charge us for any of the shots (SoCo & lime for the first round, Cafe Patron for the second), the wings, at least a couple of the beers, and a few of the martinis. It's nice to be friends with the bartender!

That is exciting news! Sounds like you all had a regular ball last night.
once I get the results from the ultrasound tomorrow, I plan on calling the hospital and letting the bear loose on them. first of all they were not very nice to me. Total different experience I had than when Brandon went on Friday. I got there and I couldn't catch my breath and breath. I was panicking and the nurse tells me that I am fine to take deep breaths. She wheels me into the back room and tells me to get on the bed. She sees me struggling to breathe and I ask her to help me on the bed and she says "No, you can do it yourself". Then she is yelling at me to take off my shirt so she can put electrobes on my chest. I ask her to help me and again she replies, "No, you can do it yourself". So I get undressed and they put the elecrodes on me and the Dr comes in to listen to my chest and he can hear my breathing is shallow and labored and he asks me to breathe quieter. They take a chest x-ray and a ct scan and say all is normal and sends me home with 101 fever and blames it on the fibromyalgia.

That's wonderful! NO man is an angel, so if you've got one that loves you and takes good care of you, that sounds pretty good to me!

He informed us that he is never getting married. He's been with his girlfriend for 2.5 years and has no intention of proposing. Said it's just not for him. Weird.
