I went out and found a bed yesterday. Thankfully the Labor Day sales were still on. There were some free ad-ons with any matress purchase over a certain price. I get the idea of free pillows, sheets or a bedframe. But I did find it odd that they were giving away a faux-leather headboard and a 19" flat screen tv.
LOL! That's funny!
I'm glad you found a bed and it was still on sale. That's great! No more air mattress! Yippee!!!!!
Hi! Pretty good! Keeping up as best as I can anyway. Another open house this Saturday, so keep your fingers crossed.
Sometimes I feel like I shouldn't, but I rely on Kevin a lot to help me with the yard. I don't know why. All I really ever ask him to do is the trim and the ditch, except for that weekend we were at Porcha I asked him to do it all.
I got a talking to last week at work. I had a bad week. Just several errors. My job is extremely detail oriented and requires a good bit of investigation, so it's easy to miss things. I was just off my game. My supervisor wasn't out of line or an *** about it. I really couldn't blame her. It just made me feel bad, because I know I am better than that, but she doesn't. So I am really trying to focus this week and do better.
I think helping with the yard is the least Kevin can do. He did not treat you very well over the past year and has a lot of making up to do for that in my opinion.
I'm sorry about your job. I know what you mean about feeling bad when you mess up. I may be a procrastinator and spend too much time chatting here, but I pride myself on doing a good job and hate when I make a mistake.

There are some colors that I just don't have - oranges, purples, blue-greens. I don't need or want every color, but it seems that when I sit down to use them I'm always reaching for a color I don't have. I think I either need to sell them and go back to using my Prismacolor pencils or buy more markers. UGH!
If you think you will use them, I say buy what you need. Treat yourself.

I was thinking about this last night. This is just how I feel too. It's good for him to step up. Maybe it will make him a better man after all he's done.

I am considering shutting my cable and internet off in October.
Things are just still too tight. I mean I guess I could spend less money on the weekends, but I'd rather have that extra $124 for fun money than cable and internet.
This would be just until I sell and move. I'm not crazy about the idea, but it will free up some cash.
I understand. I thought about that myself. This new lifestyle of mine is way too expensive, even with free drinks and food! I don't know if I'm quite ready to take the plunge, especially with the internet, but it is tempting! I am definitely going to cancel HBO next week after True Blood is over. It's only $15/month, but every little bit helps.

When I showed Shane a picture of the leather headboard he asked if we were going to throw it away. Now, it's kinda cheesy...but it's not horrible. I don't think it's perfect for a cabin. I was thinking I could Craig's list it. Maybe make some gas money?

I THINK I will use them - that's the problem. I THINK I will use a lot of stuff!
I tallied up all the markers I THINK I want/need and it adds up to about $300. The next day we got a check in the mail from our mortgage company for esgrow overages to the tune of $300! I told Ed is was a sign - I was meant to buy the markers! He didn't see it that way. Sometimes I think he's related to Dave Ramsey.
Ron took me out Saturday to a nice restaraunt called Erie Station. I had cajun shrimp alfredo.... oh my yum!
I made a major breakthough this weekend. It's kind of funny and irritating to me all at the same time. Ron has a group of friends he has been friends with FOREVER. Like all through school. The group is six guys including Ron. Sometime back, before I ever even met Ron, Gretchen was telling me about these guy friends of Melanies that she met, and the conversation came up because Melanie likes one of them (Rons friend Kristian) and one of the things she told me is these guys are slow to warm up and are not very welcoming to new girlfriends to the group.
Let me tell you - she wasn't joking. These guys barely ever even spoke to me when I saw them, sometimes they didn't even say hello. Of course I am thinking what a bunch of jackholes. I can't imagine, say for example, Gretchen bringing a new guy around and me not talking to him. Well this weekend we went up to the bar after dinner to meet up with his friends and Gretchen and Melanie - and ALL of them spoke to me and said hi to me, and engaged me in conversation. I was stunned. Even the worst of the two, because not all of them were bad. Weird dymanic those guys have. I am relieved because I used to dread and avoid going up to "their" bar. Not that we even did all that often, but the few times we did.
I told Gretchen, I guess this makes me official now. LOL!
Yay for the breakthrough! That's not cool that they used to be so cold toward you. Still, if they've been friends that long, I guess they're probably all just looking out for each other and want to make sure a new girl is suitable for their friend. And obviously, you are!

Keep your fingers crossed that the stuff brewing off of Africa doesn't turn into anything for me wouldja? I'm really scared at the two spots out there that have a chance of becoming storms canceling my trip!
I was thinking about that. I hope your trip goes off without a hitch!

Men. They just don't get it. Of course we probably don't get the price of tools or guns.

I haven't been paying attention to this stuff. Are these tropical storms?

All area schools have a 2 hour delay today due to the rain/flooding. Poor Ed had to go into work last night. The main highway that connects all the towns around here was closed - under 4 1/2 FEET of water!!!! In the 20+ years I've lived here I've never seen that! Something tells me that the civil engineers that designed the new six lane highway didn't take into consideration how fast and furious rain can fall in Central TX. We never had that problem back in 2007 before the road construction was complete and we had multiple floods in a two month time frame.
Why did Ed have to go into work?
That is a LOT of rain, and pretty insane that the roads were designed better. I'm sure it wasn't an inexpensive project and it's ridiculous that there have been all these issues!

I think if you have a need for them, and it sounds like you do, go for it! Set a limit of how much you want to spend, and then treat yourself!

I really miss having cable, especially now that I don't work. Some afternoons I'd really love to lay on the couch and channel surf, but that's one expense that we agreed to give up when I quit working full time years ago. Sometimes we talk about giving up internet service, too, but I think I'd go batty being home all day without my connection to the outside world. If I worked and could surf during the day it would be different - I wouldn't need it at home.
It's a tough decision to make. Something to think about - check and see if you can cut back to a limited cable - just local channels. Most cable companies don't advertise this service, but they do offer it. We pay about $20 a month for our local abc/nbc/cbs/Fox/TBS service and it's nowhere to be found on the TimeWarner services listings. We had to call and ask about it. Much cheaper than the $80 a month for "basic" cable and you can still get local news and weather and a tiny smattering of entertainment.
When I showed Shane a picture of the leather headboard he asked if we were going to throw it away. Now, it's kinda cheesy...but it's not horrible. I don't think it's perfect for a cabin. I was thinking I could Craig's list it. Maybe make some gas money?
No sense in throwing it out! Shoot, even $20 is better than nothing! Craig's list sounds like a great idea!
Men. They just don't get it. Of course we probably don't get the price of tools or guns.
Oh, I get the price of the guns he buys!!! He has NO room to give me grief about the stuff I buy, believe me! With all the guns and reloading stuff he's bought in the past couple of years I have free reign to buy anything and everything I want! I just know that we really can't afford it and I'm not going to put it on the credit card that I just paid off.

My newly reorganized agency (January we went from Sheriff's Department to Unified Police Department) is considering opting out of Social Security.
We're having a big vote next week. I honestly don't know which way to vote. I'm in the middle of my working career. I have enough years in to still qualify for SS when I retire (if it's still around) and yet not enough to guarantee the maximum payment.
If we vote to opt out, what my agency would pay to SS will go into a 401K type thing. I will get the $$ I pay into SS in my paycheck. Then I have to decide if I want to invest it.
Some of these fools I work with, think it's going to be a raise. Hello? This is your retirement. You can't spend it all.

Power outage. Sometimes it sucks to be the Facilities Manager. He debated whether or not he should go in then or wait until the power came back on and then go in to make sure everything came back online okay. He decided to go ahead and go in. Wrong choice. It was 5 hours before the power came back on.

We kind of a do a mine/yours kind of thing when it comes to guns and crafts. When I bought my plane ticket to GA, he bought a new shotgun.

Yikes! Tough choice. It sounds great as far as investments go, but it sucks if you get hurt. Having worked for the state and not paying into SS for 8 years is what kept me from qualifying for disability after my head injury. When I worked full-time I paid into long-term disability insurance, but that ended when I quit working. In short, I was screwed when I was injured. Just something to keep in mind!
I'm so ready to get my shower and get dressed for the day, but I don't want to disturb Ed. He's actually sleeping. He never sleeps during the day and I'm surprised that he was able to go to sleep when he came in from work.
Exactly!!!! My sister gets pleurisy pretty regularly and it's excruciatingly painful! What idiots to not be observant of your pain and willing to help you! Freaking morons.
my dh is a jerkwad too. Had the nerve to ask me if I was going into work today and when I replied no, tells me "well if you are feeling up to it, can you fold the basket of clothes upstairs by the couch". Then tells me it's gonna be hard for him to leave work early to come home and get the boys and go all the way back for services tonight (it is Rosh Hashanah). Poor baby! Not once asked me how I am feeling, if I needed anything. He is on my list!

Jerkwad! He should be on your list!!!! I hope you can get some rest today. The only thing that helps my sister is prednisone and rest. HUGS!!!!!

I've seen those odd deals, like the TVs and stuff. Strange, but I'd take it!

Is it because you were no longer paying into it, or because you hadn't been in it long enough? I've got 27 years into SS.
