So the kids didn't have school Thurs or Friday. I had to go in on Thursday and they let us out at noon. It was pretty crazy here. Lots of roads washed out. My place is fine though! My shed flooded a bit but everything that was important was in plastic or up off the ground.

Bad thing is that now I will have to work a Saturday and the kids have to make up those two days.

I think I'll be taking a leave day on whatever Saturday it is we have to work. BTW...its raining again!

sad to waste a day off for a "free" saturday! the folks who run the place do they have to come in on saturday also? bet not!

So the "new" calendar is out. The kids are coming to school next monday which was originally a teacher workday and then we all have to come to school on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving!

If anyone wants a turkey day at the beach I'll be here!

Linda we get a new calendar anytime we have to cancel school. They don't think ahead and give us "hurricane/snow" days. DUMB!

Gayla--not sure if I will redo it. I'm still deciding.

How boards work: 2 parts. Portfolio and test. In the portfolio there are 4 entries. Essentially you write 2 papers for each and submit evidence to back up that you do what they say they do. The categories were: Planning, Student Misconceptions, Inquiry, and contributions to the community. The test hits a couple different things.

My principal said that I am a great teacher and he's sure the reason I didn't get it is because I didn't use the right catch phrases. He said its all about how you sell yourself. Which I've never been that great at. It actually means more to me to have that vote of confidence from my principal than the boards. The test I didn't go great on either but I knew I wouldn't b/c its a computer based test. I hate taking tests on computers...I like to have my hands on my test, write on it, go back to it...etc.

I was hoping for the boards b/c it was a big raise and it would go a long way to paying for grad school.

Grad shcool is an online program through western kentucky u.
