Good Monday Morning Everyone!!!
I've been living a nightmare for the last 2+ weeks, and not been doing much of anything except try to keep myself together.
Everything was doing great with my knee. I was ahead in all my Physical Therapy measurements, and had very little pain.
I had a scab on my knee, in the incision area. The rest of my incision looked great, and was pretty much healed. Well, this scab started growing, then the skin around it turned red. I went to the Dr and got an antibiotic for 1 week. I continued to get worse. I was running a temperature, and was weak, and my leg got very week. Well, my good knee decided to show me how bad the arthritis is in it, and my Rotator Cuff in my right arm decided to hurt terribly! So I went back to the Dr again on Saturday. In the infected area, they pulled out a 3+inch of suturing string, that in most people dissolves. In another spot, they pulled out a 2 inch piece! Anyway, My knee feels much better, however, I am having a hard time getting out of chairs, bed, etc.
Today, I'm going to call to see if I can get a cortisone injection in my shoulder. The Dr wants me to have more PT, so, I need to check into that.
In 2 months, I get to have my right knee done. I sure hope it will be smooth sailing with it!!!
I read some of the recent posts. Sounds like everyone is doing well.
Lorietta, sounds like you are having fun with the twins. I love when they start laughing and jabbering! My little Tieryn will be 1 on Sept 1st. It is so hard to believe!!! He talks up a storm, and is so funny!
I really want to find a church!!! I guess I should wait until after I am all healed before I start looking.
Jeanette, I am SO jealous!!! I LOVE Fairview Heights! Does O'Fallen have a stamp store? I would have loved to gone to that Stamp Show in Collinsville! I guess I saved money by not being able to go!!!
Location: In the Forest with my Forest Friends, of course!
Good Morning Illinois Stamping Friends!
Linda, I'm sorry you have been through so much. UGH! Hugs, my dear!
Oh, you should have gone to C'ville show. It was great fun! O'Fallon (at least I think it's O'fallon and not Fairview Heights... they run together, you know) has a wonderful LSS. It's called Scrapbook Factory. Here's a link...
Linda, I am so sorry that you're having such a rough time. Good grief! Hugs and prayers to you continue. I sure hope that the week is ending with you feeling better than when it began.
Jeanette, that does sound like "shopping heaven". I really like Archiver's and haven't been to one in forever.
I think I need to have my had examined. I did the grocery shopping at WalMart on a Friday afternoon! Oh well, I lived to tell the tale and the groceries are put away. Whoo hoo! I'm helping DD#1 host a baby shower for her sister-in-law on Sunday afternoon. I sure hope I didn't forget anything we need. Tomorrow morning brings the "food fixing party". I think it's every bit as much fun getting ready for something with our DD's as it is hosting or attending it!
I hope everyone had a good week and has a wonderful weekend!
YEAH, I'm finally better!!! I still have 4 weeks of PT, but, it will make me stronger fore surgery #2, that is scheduled for Oct. 15th. I know I'm crazy, but I am wondering if when I fix both knees, my back might be better. It will be a short and uneventful Christmas this year, but the kids are old enough to understand.
Well, I am tired, so I am headed or a very early good-nite!!!
Sleep tight everyone!
We got 1/2" of rain this morning! The music you're hearing is our flowers singing - lol.
Linda, I am so very glad you are doing better. I thought about your comment regarding your back getting better once you have both knees replaced. I think you're onto something there. Let's hope! Healing hugs from me, too!
The last baby shower for the foreseable future is this p.m. Yesterday, when DD #1 and I were cooking, I tried a new fruit salsa recipe. Boy, is it good! I'll be anxious to see what all the ladies think of it today. DH is hoping for leftovers! Guess I'll have to squirrel him some away before the shower starts - ha.
I hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday and a chance to rest, if even just a little.
I love to share recipes, Jeanette. Everyone did like this salsa yesterday.
3 ripe peaches - peeled, pitted diced
4 kiwi - peeled and diced
1 - 1 1/2 qts. strawberries - diced
3 green onions - chopped finely
1 jalapeno pepper - seeds removed, chopped finely
1 T. fresh cilantro - chopped finely
2 T. lime juice
1 pinch salt
Mix together. Chill and enjoy! I served it with lime flavored Tostitos. Yummy!
I hope you like this one as much as we all do.
It would appear that Cameron and Lucy are "watching" TV now! When the television is on, they turn their little heads toward the sound & picture. They then just stare at it. DH and SIL#2 think it's the colors they're watching. Lord, have mercy. Time to tune into Sesame Street & Mr. Roger's Neighborhood!
I hope everyone has a good day filled with at least one thing that makes you smile!
Good afternoon, Jeanette! Hello to all in Illinois Stamping Land!
Jeanette, your church picnic sounds like fun. I love get-togethers like that. I think some of the best recipes I have came from church picnics/potlucks going clear back to my Great-Grandma. I hope your church family likes the fruit salsa.
It's a beautiful, sunny 62 degree morning here. So many things have greened up since that glorious 3" of rain on Sunday!
Yesterday, was keep the twins day, as usual. They are "talking" so much now! Miss Lucy is more high maintenance than Mr. Cameron. She rarely puts herself to sleep and would rather be walked and patted to fall asleep. I've found a little singing helps, too. She seems to prefer my renditions of Pats Cline songs (obviously the child is tone deaf - lol). Anyway, while I was singing and walking her to sleep, she started "talking" and I swear it sounded like she was singing along. I couldn't help but laugh, so of course it took 2x as long to get her to sleep! Well worth it, though. Cameron is laughing out loud now. It is so cute! His whole little face lights up with this great big smile and out comes the laughter. Music to our ears!
I hope everyone hears at least one thing today that is music to their ears.
Good morning friends in Illinois Stamping Land! Happy Saturday!
Jeanette, I plan on it - lol! I found some wonderful peaches at Wal-Mart when DH & I got groceries last night. I can't wait to try a new peach cobbler recipe I found for dessert when the kids all come for dinner on Monday. Big night out for us - dinner at Cracker Barrel and groceries at Wal-Mart - lol!
I hope you, too, enjoy your 3 day weekend. Well, actually, I guess with tomorrow being Sunday; you and DH have a 2 day weekend! I hope it's a good one for you.
Location: In the Forest with my Forest Friends, of course!
Good Morning Illinois Stamping Friends!
It rained! It rained! It rained!!! Can you tell I'm excited!?!?!? We had the most wonderful/gentle rain last evening. We even have rain puddles on the parking lot behind our house! YAY!
Loretia, I giggled when I read your post... yep, you know us well. I could say, "What is this thing called a weekend and how is it supposed to work?" LOL! Sundays are our busiest days, as you'd expect.... but I do love them, too!
I'm not sure what we're going to do today. We've had a crazy busy week - funeral, DH preached on the radio (live) 4 days, extra church meetings and lessons and such. So DH and I planned/prepared to take today "off". We were going to take Brock and go down to Duquoin for the southern Illinois fair (I can't remember what it's called)......... but we have a 90% chance of more rain... so I don't think we'll do that. It will be interesting to see what we do instead. LOL!
DH is an outdoors/agriculture sort of guy - he wanted to be a farmer until God called him into the ministry. I am (at heart) a city slicker. I love the heart of the city and the hustle/bustle. I also love the crowds shopping on Black Friday, etc. Soooooo our outings togeher usually aren't exciting enough for my liking. LOL! DH is content to drive through the countryside and admire the corn fields.
And don't even get me started about food... DH loves bland southern-types of meals - meat, potatoes, corn bread. I love meals with flavor - Mexican, Italian, Chinese... sooooooo even where we choose to eat when we eat out are usually are too bland for me.
Good morning, Jeanette! Hello to all in Illinois Stamping Land!
Jeanette, it sure does sound like you & DH are complete opposites. It's a good thing that opposites attract!
DH and I are really quite similar. He did grow up in a rural area, while I grew up in town - but not the differences of a big city vs. the country!
We got a ton of rain over the weekend - 6 1/2" from Friday to Sunday. Boy, did we need it. DH was the plumber "on call" for our business. The poor guy worked almost all day Sat. & Sun. - not to mention several middle of the night calls for sump pumps going out causing basements to flood.
I hope everyone has a good Wednesday - is it Wednesday already? Good grief!
I'm with you on the TGIF!!!!! I dodged the big raindrops and got the errand running done. Yeah! Now time to finish cleaning the house and hemming a couple pairs of DH's pants. I hope you have a good weekend!
Hi, everyone!! I've been MIA again...but it's always good to "see" you! Nothing starts the morning out like Jeanette's "Morning Illinois Stamping Friends" post.
Life and work have been chaotic at best for me lately. So today I took a "mental health" day with my BFF as she had some training in Columbia, MO, for her job. I, on the other hand am "STUCK" at the hotel (heehee) with an indoor/outdoor pool and jacuzzi!! So I'm just taking a little R & R.
So here goes for me...we went out Aug 29th to see little miss Ansley...she's crawling, had one tooth (as of last week, two!) and is such a little joy! Little Miss Reagan came over for the Broomcorn Festival this past weekend and I was placed into Grandma duty (another terrible job!). We read, we sang, we baked...Reagan always has a smile on her face!
My daughter is just about 3 wks. from having her baby. She's a very independent woman--that's the way I raised her. But as she's become an adult, I feel like I've been pushed aside. And I know that she has a husband in her life now. When you've been used to talking on a daily basis and then it becomes every couple of weeks, well--it hurts. My calls are left to voicemail and she doesn't call back. Needless to say, it broke my heart.
I went up to the baby shower with my BFF...but I kind of just felt like the token Mom. I want to be there for her all the time--not just on special occasions. Her brother talked to her that weekend, and I think his message was pretty matter-of-fact.
She is calling more now. In the meantime, I went in to talk with a mental health counselor. I could feel myself spiraling...
I've been thinking about getting to work on my Christmas cards, but first I need to clean my house!! With the summer so hot (remember I have no AC!) there hasn't been much cleaning done. And I need to force myself to leave work by 5:30. By the time I leave at 6:30/7, I'm too tired to get anything done at home.
I want to change some things in my life...I just need to get going! Have a great week, everyone!
