Hello everyone!!! Wow - I can't belive how fast this summer went!
Jeanette - hope you are having fun with your DD and family!
Jen- hang in there - we are all praying for you!
Well, I think this heat has just about finished off my flowers! I have worked so hard to keep them alive, but they seem to be just about to the end of thier life. Hoping for the rain they are calling for tomorrow.
We finally hired a new intentional interim minister this week! I am pretty excited to see some positive changes in our church! the new minister (Pastor Bob) is very musical. I couldn't believe the wonderful voice he has! I can't wait to see how he will use his musical talent in our little church!
Lacie is getting excited to go back to school already! It seems like I just got her home and she will be leaving again.
We have scheduled Isaac's senior pictures - I really can't be old enough to have both my kids grown up already can I? He is pretty excited about his senoir year and visiting and choosing a college.
Other than the normal everyday things there is nothing new at my house. Still no time to get into my craft room I am hoping that once the kids are back in school I will have more "me" time!
Have a great weekend Ladies! Talk to you all soon!
I've been reading through old posts, trying to see what I told you all last. Have I told you ANYTHING??? I am SO BAD ! ! ! I am so sorry!!!
I had my surgery at St Johns, in Springfield, on July 16th. They gave me a block in my knee, and when it was time to go down to PT, my block wasn't anywhere ready to stand up! I was glad I had a private room. I actually let me stay 4 days, because I needed the PT. I had a half a day with a therapist working just on me. Then, the day after I came home, I had both a nurse AND a therapist at home. They have been excellent!!! If I wanted, they would have come today, too!!!
I used a cane a few weeks before my surgery. Then, after surgery, I used a walker for about 10 days. Then, I went back to a cane. Thursday, my therapist said he couldn't believe how good I've been doing, and that at home I don't need my cane or walker!!! That was ONLY 2 and 1/2 weeks!!!! Well, I haven't been out of the house since I came back from the hospital. I have been working all my PT work-outs, and am starting to sleep through the night. If any of you ever need a knee or hip replacement, Dr Allen is THE BEST ! ! ! God was taking care of me, no doubt!!! My husband came to the hospital every afternoon, and I had a couple happy visits from my daughter and grandkids!!!
I am still needing 1 or 2 naps a day, and not cooking yet. I'm feeling a nap right now, so I will talk to you soon! Sounds like you all have been being good!
Linda, it sounds like you are just doing wonderfully in your recovery. I am so happy for you. Nap away when you need it, girl. Congratulations on taking such a huge step in your life. You are one courageous lady! Keep us posted on your recovery. We'll keep praying for you.
Wow, Jeanette! When you take a trip, you don't mess around - 1,600 miles. That's alot of miles. I'm so glad you enjoyed your trip and got to spend time with family and your DD. I thought of her when there was that awful shooting in Aurora, CO. I pray that she is doing well.
Tina, if I'm old enough to have a DD turn 32 in June and a DD turning 31 on Wed., you must be old enough to have your "baby" be a senior in high school - lol! I hope you enjoyed your vacation, too. Those are such fun times! I know what you mean about the flowers. Ours are hanging in, but it's taking almost daily watering. We did get about 1" of rain overnight. Woo hoo! That calls for a celebration!
Okay, Pat and Jean what's new in your world?
The twins turned 3 months old yesterday. That's so hard to believe. I swear I went through withdrawal last week with them going to the sitters. I'm so glad I agreed to keep them on Tuesdays at least and honestly, I'm glad I don't have them all week! No wonder we have our kids when we're younger - lol! They are smiling bunches and "talking" up a storm. Cameron has developed a little bit of a temper! He shows it when he is wet, messy or hungry. He is immediately happy as soon as he's dry and full! Lucy lets you know when she's hungry or just wants to be held (and you better keep moving while you're holding her). She lets out this sound that is just like a cat when it's mad. It's so darn funny. The girls are taking the the babies 3 mo. pictures in our backyard today. That will be fun to watch. Okay, enough about those little angels. I just can't seem to help myself.
I actually got 9 cards made last week. I tried a new technique - at least to me. It's called "reverse masking". There's a tutorial for it here on SCS. I was pleased with the way it turned out.
I hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday. Hugs and prayers to all!
DH started working Monday! Praise God! Things will be slow at first as he builds his clientele but at least he's there now if someone calls and isn't just sitting around waiting.
I'm still searching, and getting rather distressed at school starts next week in many districts around here. I do still have 2 applications in and plan to contact them after the lunch hour to see where they stand. Praying something works out. The checking account keeps getting smaller and the bills keep coming in. Not fun.
Thank goodness for mommas. My mom has Friday off and is going to treat me to a girls day. She says we both need a little girl time, just for different reasons. Shes had a lot of big cases at work and has had to put in a lot of overtime. So we're going to get pedicures and do a little shopping. Obviously, I won't be doing too much buying, but it's always fun to look, and we need to find a wedding gift for a friend of mine who's wedding I'm in in November. She's registered at a little local store that has limited hours and is about 90 minutes from us so we figured we'd go make the trip over now while we have the time and before everything is bought! Then we're going to head over to the opening day of the State Fair to see 2 of my cousins do their "Queeenly" duties as county fair queens. Not really sure what exactly that will entail, but it's always fun to see them dressed up and since I'm helping one of them with her Queen scrapbook I can get some good pictures!
Keep your prayers going for me, they are truly appreciated. I think I need prayers for patience more than anything right now, that is one virtue I really struggle with!
Good morning, lovely ladies in Illinois Stamping Land!
Jeanette, thank you for your sweet, indulgent words for this Grandma!
Jen, congrats to your DH! That's good news! I'll continue to pray for you as you search for a job. Patience is a tough one for me, too, sometimes. It sounds like you & your mom have a great day planned. Have lots of fun!
Alright ladies, I really need that patience this morning! Waiting for a return phone call for a possible interview TODAY! Lets keep those prayers flowing and the fingers crossed! I need to make a birthday card for a dear friend today and I just can not focus right now. I'm sure she'll understand if it's only half completed...right?
Good morning Ladies!! I feel so productive this week! I managed to clean out my bedroom and closet for a yard sale my mom is having. I also was able to clean and regoranize my craft area - so when I get the time - I am ready to go to work!!!
Jen - prayers sent your way!
Hope you all have a wonderful day!
Sorry I've been MIA again, girls!! The weekend found me on the beaches of Lake Michigan and picking blueberries with my BFF. It was also my birthday last Saturday!! Birthdays are always hard for me as, on my 35th, I was faced with sorting out my deceased mother's belongings before my brothers left back to their homes. So my friend Kathy planned with DH that I celebrated it away from home. And I told her it was probably one of the best birthdays since my Mother's passing in 1991.
We didn't get as many blueberries picked as we would have liked to as it was VERY hot on Saturday morning. So we bought some before we left too. So hot on Saturday that we actually opted to not go to the beach. Instead we shopped around in South Haven.
One of our favorite "Plan B" plans (you know, Plan A is always the beach !!) is going to the little shop, Just Bead It. Yep, you can make your own earrings, bracelets, etc. there. They had a bracelet knock-off of the Pandora brand bracelets. So Kathy and I both made one. I picked a "Mom" and "Grandma" charm, plus one with a sand pail, and some others to start my special bracelet out.
So glad to hear you are doing well Linda. And good luck Jen on the job interview! Tina...I really need to do some cleaning!! Maybe this weekend! Like you, Loretia, I love my grandbabies! We'll be headed to CA at the end of the month to see little Miss Ansley. She's crawling!! And it's always good to "see" you Jeanette wishing all of us a wonderful day!
Thanks for the hugs, Jeanette and I'm sending them right back to you!
Happy belated Birthday, Pat. What a wonderful plan your friend and DH concocted. Your bracelet sounds beautiful and so special! That will be so much fun to see Miss Ansley crawling! I'll bet you can't wait.
Stamping question, imagine that, for you all. What brand of inks do you typically use and like. I usually stick with SU for the "colors", but they have discontinued a brown I liked and a marigold color. Thanks in advance for the input.
Tina, thanks for the info. on the inks you prefer. I have decided to order a couple Memento Inks. I'll check out the CTMH ink pads, too. One thing I do like about the Memento's is that they have markers that match!
It's a lovely, cool morning here in our town. We had coffee on the patio and I even put on a light jacket. What a treat!
Jeanette, sorry you have been "all alone" on this thread for a couple of days!!
Busy times at our home. I kept the twins Tuesday, like always. Lucy had her first snuffy nose, so I kept them here again yesterday and the sitter is on vacation Fri., so they'll be back over. They are just "talking" up a storm. It's so much fun to listen to them. I swear they seem to be on the verge of laughing sometimes. Grammy took them on a long walk yesterday in the double stroller. They slept almost the whole way and Grammy has found new muscles in her arms and legs that I didn't know existed - lol!
They are both getting baptized on Sunday with a luncheon at our DD and SIL's home afterward. So, the kitchen will be humming here on Sat. fixing some dishes. DH makes the best homemade salsa and that's on the list! He's so funny - very excited that the kids want his salsa as part of the party!
I must be feeling philosophical this morning as it just occurred to me how many of our life's important moments have taken place in our church. We have been members there for many years. It's been the site of wonderful Sunday school memories, confirmations, both DD's weddings, my Mom and brother's funerals and of course, the baptism is next. I truly believe that God is everywhere (actually I find Him to be the closest to me when I'm outdoors), but we all need that "site" to gather. We also, of course, need a leader to help us celebrate these life moments. That makes me think of your DH, Jeanette. What a wonderful blessing I'm sure you and DH are to you congregation. It also makes me think of you, Tina and I hope that things are going well with your new pastor.
OK, I'm done waxing philosophical! Maybe I'll start in on how I feel about politics in our country these days - lol!!!!! Not!
Anyway, I hope everyone has a day filled with at least one thing that makes you smile big!
Location: In the Forest with my Forest Friends, of course!
Good Morning Illinois Stamping Friends!
Loretia, I'm so glad you (and your muscles) have been able to have some extra time with the twins this week - but sorry Lucy had to have a stuffy nose to make that happen. How exciting this weekend is going to be - a double baptism AND delicious homemade salsa, too! I'm sure everyone will enjoy the day! Thank you for your sweet words about church - very touching! I totally agree. Church is a great place and one where many memories are formed.
Good morning, Jeanette!
I'm so glad you had such fun at the stamping show! Did you learn alot of new techniques? Fairview Heights/O'Fallon are such great towns. My brother used to be the manager of the Chili's in Fairview Heights, so I spent some time down that way. Great shopping and add in Chipotle & Starbucks - homerun! I'm happy that you took some time for yourself. I'm quite sure that you were ready for that!
Hello to all this beautiful Monday!
The twins were baptized yesterday. What fun that was! They were just dolls in all their white - Cameron in a white "suit" of course and Lucy a white dress. It was great seeing so many family friends, church friends and family members witnessing this wonderful event and sharing lunch afterwards.
Back to work today!
I hope everyone has at least one thing in their life today that makes you smile big!

Hi Loretia! What an exciting day for you yesterday. I'm glad you were able to enjoy the memorable day in the lives of the twins!
We used to live in Collinsville - I loved it there! I know my way around in Fairview Heights/O'Fallon... so it IS a great place for me to go shopping. I didn't really learn anything new at the stamp show - they did a few make and takes (most cost $3-5), but the lines were long and I didn't really see any of them that were "must-do's" for me... so I passed on all of them.
