Jeanette, how exciting that your DD came up if only for a short visit! I'm sure you enjoyed having her around for a bit!
Linda, I'm sending hugs and prayers your way, too. I'm sorry that you're going through such a rough spell. Sounds like a good plan to stay an extra day in transitional care and it's nice that you can change your mind if you want to. I do believe that nerves can affect our tummies. I know they do mine. I sure hope that you have been feeling better today.
Not much new here in central Illinois - still hot and still dry as a chip! Oh, well! I got to get up this morning and I get to go to bed tonight so I am blessed!
Good Afternoon Ladies!!! Sorry I have been MIA again. My brother came from Arizona for a couple of weeks so my time on the computer is limited to when I can spare a few minutes at work.
Linda - I am praying for you!
Loretia - how wonderful to hear how well the twins are doing!
Lacie will be home next Tuesday!!!!!!! I am so excited to see her! I can't believe she is on her last week already! She finally got setteled in and is enjoying herself and it is time to come home! Not to mention that my chore list didn't get much smaller while she was gone!
I have started some new projects for gifts. I am making signs! I even went out and bought myself a circular saw and an electric sander! LOL! Now, if I can get someone to teach me how to use them! At least right now my son is helping me by doing all of the cutting and sanding. I am painting them and using my Cricut to cut vinyl letters then seal coating them. I am currently working on my mother's birthday present - It will say Grandchildren - complete life's circle of love and then list all 15 grandkids! I will try to post a picture once it is finished.
Well, I hope you are all enjoying this little break from so much heat! Back to work I go!
Tina, how great that your brother came for a visit! His timing was clearly right on the money. I know you're thrilled that Lacie is coming home. Hooray! Praying for a safe trip home for her.
Jeanette, I looked up a jumping frog card. Such a cute idea. Were you pleased with how yours turned out?
Linda, how are things going for you?
I thought of you yesterday, Pat, when I bought a bunch of blueberries at the grocery. Aldi has some really good ones on sale right now.
Jen, any word on the your and DH's job search.
I'm off to peruse SCS for baptism cards. I need to find some stamps to use. The twins are getting baptized in August. You would think that I would have at least 1 stamp/set that would work, but no. Gee, I guess I'll be forced to buy some - lol!
Good morning, Jeanette and all of our Illinois Stamping Friends!
I'm finishing up the last baby afghan I need to do and then it's back to stamping! Yeah! I think I have been going through withdrawal. Miracle of miracles, I found a pretty cross stamp (in with the Christmas stamps) to make the twins' baptism cards with. Imagine that, I didn't need to buy anything!
I want to share one "grandma" story with you all. Yesterday, when I was over at our DD's helping with the twins, Cameron started fussing in his bassinet. As I was holding Lucy at the time, I bent over and just started talking to him. He burst out with the biggest smile for his grammy! It even lit up his eyes! As I continued talking, he continued to smile. Talk about melting Grammy's heart!!!!!!!
I hope each of you has something that wonderful happen to you this week!
Jeanette, I owe you an apology. I asked about your DH's garden and then didn't bother to respond to your answer! I hate that the green beans, corn, potatoes and zucchini are done for. Some of my favorites! One thing about tomatoes - when they produce, they produce - lol! I remember when I was a younger and dumber bride canning whole tomatoes, tomato sauce, ketchup, spaghetti sauce, etc. It tasted awfully good come Jan. or Feb. though! Maybe you can find a recipe that combines peanuts and tomatoes - lol!
Hi, ladies!! It's been forever since I've checked in! It's been so hot and dry that I've done a little stampin but not a great deal. A friend invited me to help create wedding program for one of her friends' daughters. So another little project! I worked the other night on some cards. Right now the the big SU convention is happening. I hope to make it there next year. I hear it is great fun!
I booked our flights for our next visit to CA to see our son. Southwest had a great sale going on and I was able to get both tickets for under $500. YAY!
Well, I hope to get to play with some of my new SU stuff that was delivered last weekend. I just need to set aside some time to play with them!!
Have a great weekend. It's looking like the beach at Lake Shelbyville will be calling my name!!
Good to "see" you, Pat. Great prices on your tickets to see your DS in CA! At the price, you could go 2x - lol! Did you make it to the beach at Lake Shelbyville? That sounds heavenly!
Jeanette, your salsa sounds wonderful! That's always so yummy with Tostisos or pita chips!
DH and I made a quick weekend trip to Rockford. We toured the Japanese Gardens there. Wow! They were just gorgeous! We ate at a couple of really good restaurants and did some shopping - found some good bargains on baby clothes. They're into 3 mos. now. I think Grampy picked out more than Grammy did - lol! It was nice just to get out of town for a couple days and away from DH's work cell phone!!!!!
I know I won't be attending the expo in Collinsville. Actually, I've never been to a stamping/scrapbooking expo! I just know that with our vacation coming up in mid-September (can't wait) and life being so crazy right now, that's one I won't try to get to. Someday, though!
Today is Stamping Tuesday at my house with my friends. I'm looking forward to it. As a bonus, tonight is the once a month stamping group I usually attend. Yeah! A day of creativity (I hope - lol) and time to enjoy!
I hope everyone has at least 1 thing in their life today that makes them smile.
Good afternoon Ladies!!! Life has been in full swing at my house. Lacie is home and had a wonderful time! Now we are getting ready to leave tomorrow for our own vacation. Then we have Senior pictures for our son when we get back and get the kids ready to go back to school! Talk about a fast summer!!! I didn't have time to read everything so if I missed anything important please let me know.. Jeanette - your salsa does sound wonderful!
Sorry I've been MIA for a few weeks. Woo, has it been crazy.
We had to say goodbye to our "baby" today. Checkers, our 4 year old cat, became extremely sick about 3 weeks ago. We took her to the vet, who just happens to be my step-dad, and he started her on treatments for an auto-immune anemia. She seemed to be getting better, slowly, but she was more herself and getting to be more active, despite her sudden (overnight) blindness. We woke up this morning and went to give her meds and she was just a wet rag again. Worse than she was 3 weeks ago, after more tests, we found she actually had feline leukemia and there really wasn't much we could do other than spend sometime with her and say goodbye before coming home. Today is a sad day in our house.
That has been a long 3 week ordeal, but there have been a few positives. My cousin was crowned fair queen at our local fair 2 weeks ago. She is truly a beautiful person inside and out and I can't wait to watch her throughout the next year while helping her with her Queen Scrapbook. I'm probably just about her biggest fan, right behind her Queen Mother!
DH FINALLY has a meeting scheduled to set out all the details for a job! Thursday evening he is meeting with the doc he has been talking to all summer. I'm hoping they can get everything worked out so that he can start working. I have not had as much luck. The interview I had over a month ago was for a parochial school and they ended up not being able to hire at all due to their church offerings being near depleted. They are going to have to rearrange student placement and make due with what they have. I talked with the principal where I was aiding last year as the other 2 aides who were cut have been recalled, but as of now it does not look good for me to be recalled as well. However, I have recently found a couple of new postings that I am applying for, so I'm hoping that maybe one of those will come through!
As you can see we've had lots of ups and downs the past few weeks, and while we're definitely on a down right now, I'm hoping things start to look back up for us soon! Sorry for such a long post, but I guess that's what happens when I'm gone for so long!
Location: In the Forest with my Forest Friends, of course!
Good Morning Illinois Stamping Friends!
I will not be here for the next several days. We are leaving early tomorrow morning for a little vacation (two family reunions in Kentucky and then on to Mississippi to spend a few days with DD). I will miss you, but am looking forward to the time away from home.... and getting to see DD, too! Will look forward to chatting with all of you again in a week!
Our computer locked up several days ago and we just got it back from Best Buy's Geek Squad. Woo hoo! I'm connected again!
Jen, I am so very sorry about the loss of Checkers. That's so hard to lose one of the furry members of the family. I hope DH is continuing to progress along his path to that job. Good luck to him. Job hunting is the pits!!!! Good luck with yours.
Tina, I'm so glad that Lacie is back home. I'm sure she had wonderful pictures and stories to tell! I hope you're having fun on your vacation!
Jeanette, how fun does a family reunion sound? I always loved those as a kid! I hope you're enjoying both of yours and I know you're enjoying seeing your DD.
Linda, how are you getting along?
Yesterday was DD's first day back at work since the twins were born. I kept them yesterday and the rest of the week they're going to the babysitters. Hard week for she and her DH (grammy, too)!
