Kim's Cinnamon Rolls
5 T. butter/oleo 1/4 c. water 3/4 c. brown sugar 2 t. cinnamon
Melt butter on stovetop. Stir in water, brown sugar and cinnamon. Set aside.
2 cans Crescent rolls 1/2 c. sugar 2 t. cinnamon
Separate crescent rolls into 4 squares/rectangles per tube. Unroll and butter each square. Sprinkle with some of the sugar/cinnamon mixture. Roll back up tightly. Repeat for each square. Place in freezer for about 10 min. to harden slightly. Then cut each into 6 slices.
In a greased 9x9 baking pan pour in set aside butter mixture. Place rolls slices into dish. Sprinkle with additional cinnamon & sugar.
Bake at 350 for 20 min. Allow to cool. Enjoy!
I ALWAYS make a double batch as these are do darn good.
Here's another easy/super quick coffeecake recipe:
2 cans Crescent rolls - separated into 8 rectangles. Place rectangles on an ungreased 15x13 jelly roll pan. Press all edges and perforations together to form a seamless "crust".
Take 1 lg. can pie filling (blueberry or cherry are our favorites) and spread it down the lengthwise center of "crust" (spread about 2" wide).
Make cuts 2" apart in crust just to edge of filling. Pull the cut pieces of crust to the center going from top to bottom alternating sides to form a "braid" look. Fold up top and bottom to seal.
Bake at 375 for 15 to 20 min.
1/2 c. powdered sugar 2T. milk 1 t. almond extract
Drizzle over warm coffeecake. Sprinkle with slivered almonds if desired.
These are both sinfully good and of course, low cal - lol!!!!!
I hope your families enjoy them as much as ours does.
I saw on TV there were alot of storms in southern Illinois. I hope they missed you all! It's like a spring day here. It's 57 right now and I have some windows open in the house! Love that fresh air!
TinaMarie, I'm so glad you're family liked the cinnamon rolls! It makes me happy to share a recipe and have someone else enjoy it, too!
Yesterday's mail brought the grand window and grand flower box dies made by Memory Box. I'm so excited! I can't wait to make a card with them. I'm pretty sure that it was on "Stamping with Loll's" blog that I first saw these 2 dies used. I loved the card she made.
DH is cooking brats on the grill tonight and I can already taste them! Yum! If any of you ever come to Bloomington, there's a meat shop on Bunn St. called Bloomington Meats. They make the best brats that we've ever eaten. They come in a variety of flavors, too. It's worth the stop.
I hope everyone has a wonderful day holding at least one thing that makes you smile!
Good Morning Ladies! We had a lot of rain, but also no damage last night. It was 50 when I left for work this morning! Dare we hope Spring has arrived?
Dr. appointment this afternoon with my new doc. We will know today what our game plan will be regarding what ever this is growing in my abdomen. At least I can go in there knowing he isn't going to give me horrible news! I am so glad they called with the blood work as soon as they received it!
Have a great day Ladies and enjoy all of the sunshine!
Great news!!! The doctor is comfortable just keeping our eye on the mass on my ovary. It is pretty big, but benign. He said that as long as I have no pain we will check again in 6 months. He said that I will have to have it out eventually but could wait a little while! YAH!!!
You bet. I can't even begin to imagine and pray we don't ever find out. I think one of the most haunting images to me, after any storm, is the media coverage which shows the homes with yellow "X"'s on houses that have been searched, all accounted for and alive and the homes with pink "X"'s that have been searched and someone has been killed. So very sad. God bless them all!
Great news for you, Tina!! Yes, those storms were terrible!! Getting ready for a big push as our company safety meeting for nearly 145 employees is Monday. You probably won't "see" me on here until after that! I'll be relieved that it's done! Have a great weekend everyone!
Good morning, everyone! I hope you all slept well!
TinaMarie, did you get to "play" with your new flowers?
Linda, it occurred to me this morning that I don't believe I ever thanked you for starting this thread! I so enjoy stopping by most days, saying hello and "seeing" whoever's around. So, thank you!
I finally got a whole box of cards ready to ship off to OWH today. Woo hoo! It's such a good feeling to give and I like to think that some of those cards make the loved ones of our men and women in uniform feel just a little less lonesome - if only for a minute.
Blessings to each of you as you go about your day.
Good Morning Ladies! Did you get the snow? We had quite a lot last night but by this morning most of it is gone. It was so pretty, but I wasn't prepared for it! After church my MIL and I went shopping and I didn't even wear a coat! Boy, I was cold by the time we got home!
I did get to "play" with my new flowers! I LOVE them!!! I will try to post a picture of the card I made when I get home tonight. My DH couldn't belive that I ordered flowers all the way from the UK just to use on cards. But, when I told him the cost vs going to a local store he was amazed at how much I actually saved by ordering them that way! I usually don't tell him what my supplies cost (it is better to keep him in the dark!)
TinaMarie, I can't wait to see your cards with your new flowers. I checked out their website and gosh, they have some pretty things at good prices!
I don't know anyone's sense of humor, but on another thread I came across a listing for Hambo Stamps. I got on their website and there are some really funny stamps. They're designed to be used 1 on the outside of the card and 1 on the inside. I had a good laugh looking at them!
Now that I've been sufficiently "enabled" to buy a few more things, I need to get ready for work soon so I can pay for the darn stuff. I wonder how much money I can "save" with my new purchases - lol!
Loretia - I will have to check out their website. I am always on the lookout to "save" money!
Is anyone going to the stamp/scrapbook show this weekend in Rockford? A couple of my friends and I are going to go check it out. I love going to shows to see all the neat stuff I can drool over!
Have a great day and enjoy the sunshine!
Loretia, You are more than welcome!!! Gosh, since I started this little group, I feel guilty that I don''t get on here more often. I am trying harder!!! I just haven't stamped for a while. I really miss it, and need to get myself in gear. I am a perfectionist, and to get my room done NOW!!! My doctor did change my pain med to Percocet, which helps me a lot more than the Vicodine. I still have to limit myself, or I pay for it for a week!!!
I am so happy that everyone on here are all so nice and become good friends!!!
Linda - I understand how you feel. My husband commented last night that I put in a full days work to complete one card! (Actually, I did one last night in 2 hours!) I know that is a long time, but I want them to be a perfect as I can get them.
Percocet would be much better than Vicodine! I know when I have to take a strong pain pill Vicodine just knocks me out! Then when I wake up I am useless because I feel so hung over!
Jeanette - you must be having a busy week. We haven't "seen" you in a couple of days.
Pat - how did your meetings go?
Hope everyone has a wonderful day! I just came back to the office after measuring a house - boy is it WINDY!!!
Hello, ladies--I'm back but just barely!! LOL!! The meeting went well...had a little "technical" difficulty at first. One of the laptop external speakers were being finnicky--got that fixed. And then the next projector was having issues too!! Oh my--and I even tested both of them before the meetings began. It always seems to turn out that way. The rest of the day went well. We had about 140 employees come in--some during the morning session, some in the afternoon session, and all of them together at lunch. Crazy? Yes, just a little!!
I've wanted to attend Rockford but haven't yet. This year it's the same weekend as my SU Regional in Milwaukee. There's two carloads of us heading out on Friday morning with another group meeting up with us in the evening. I told my boss that I'm calling that my "mental health day" and I plan to be "sick!" I've still got a little more yet to do on my 3D swaps. The event is all day on Saturday, and then we head back home! Can you tell--I'm REALLY excited!
I've also got a Longaberger party scheduled for Sunday afternoon, and then I head over to Strasburg in the evening to help a group of about 30 4-H'ers make Operation Write Home cards. AACCCKKK!!! Nothing like being busy!!
I know what you mean about being a perfectionist Linda and TinaMarie. I just can't send a card if there's something "off" about it. I'd rather spend more time and produce less than send out something I'm not pleased with.
Linda, I'm glad your new pain medication is helping you more. My only experience with Vicodin was after I had surgery for a broken wrist a couple years ago. That stuff gave me such a rip-roaring headache. Please don't feel guilty about not being on here more often! It's always good to "see" you when you "stop" by!
Pat, I'm glad your presentation went well. I swear there are always glitches with those kind of things. It sounds like there's no rest for the weary for you, girl! Wow! I hope you have alot of fun in WI at SU Regionals.
TinaMarie, I have never been to that show in Rockford. I have heard it's alot of fun. You'll have to let us know what all you saw! Have fun for all of us!!
Jeanette, I hope that things are well with you and your family.
I picked up my new glasses yesterday. Wow! So far, I love them. I'm really amazed at how much "crisper" everything looks.
Have any of you seen the cards in the gallery made with SU's bird punch that you turn into little chicks for Easter cards? They are so darn cute. I started making some yesterday and they're turning out pretty well. I tell you, some people are so clever!
Location: In the Forest with my Forest Friends, of course!
Good Morning Illinois Stamping Friends!!!!
Awwwwwww... it's so sweet to be missed. I have been incredibly busy lately - meetings taking me out of town, then yesterday, I went to the city to see the eye doctor. Since it's almost 2 hours to the city, I decided to shop the day away so was gone all day.
I can't wait to see your flowery card, Tina. You'll probably convince me to go shopping.
Pat, I'm glad the meeting is now history... and went fairly well!
Linda, I, too, want to thank you for opening this thread! I love coming here and chatting!
Tina, we didn't get snow... it's been gorgeous! In the 60's and even 70 once or twice. It has been windy, but that's normal for March.
Loretia, I have one of the front/back Hambo stamps - I got it used from someone. I've never used it. I should get it out and try it sometime.
I am now too far from Rockford to go to the stamp show there. Before we moved we were just over an hour to Rockford, so I went once. Truthfully, it was not a very good show that time, though I hear they usually are good. It was quite disappointing and I never went again.
Pat and Jeanette, boy you have been busy!!! I'm gonna need a nap after reading the posts this morning!!!
Vicodine never helped me with my pain real well, and one bad thing with narcotics is you build up a tolerance to them. So, it wasn't really helping me any more. I am glad that my doctor gave me something else. Right now, it makes me a little sleepy, but it allows me to have a little bit of a life. Without it, I can only be on my feet about 5-10 minutes at a time. Today, I'm in a lot of pain. It must be this crazy weather!!!
Tina Marie, I'm going to check out your gallery now. Those flowers sound beautiful. I have ordered things from the UK before, myself.
Everyone have a great Wednesday. Don't let tis wind blow you away!!!
Linda--a nap sounds like a fine thing to do!! I've been blown around today as I needed to go up to our Urbana office so that I could take part in the Fire Dept. walkthrough. I was really watching the trucks on I74--that south wind was really blowing them around.
And all I can say is WOW, Tina, about your cards! I really like them!! I've been thinking about ordering some of the SU ones where you use the reinker to color coordinate them...mmm...you've got me thinking!! We'll need to report about our stamping adventures to the group this weekend, won't we?
I'm going to force myself to leave work early. I've got to finish up those 3D items for Satuday andprep for the card class on Sunday night. I think I'll make it a simple card (DSP, coordinating cardstock, and the new flower stamp/punch out of the Occasions catalog, punched sentiment). I've seen some samples and the card really looks nice plus it's quick and easy. Plus, kids always like to use the punches! I do too!
Location: In the Forest with my Forest Friends, of course!
Good Morning Illinois Stamping Friends!!!
Tina, your cards with the flowers ARE gorgeous!!!
Linda, I hope the pain is not so bad today - and that you can find the right med to help! It's horrible dealing with pain.
Loretia, you're right about retail therapy!
Pat, the wind here was horrible yesterday, too. I kept watching the half of a tree in a neighbor's yard, willing it not to fall. The other half came down in last week's storm and they still haven't done anything with the mess. EEK! The house is in a sale-pending status... not a good scenario!
The wind finally died down here and after an early morning good rain, the sun is shining! Of course, I'm stuck in here at the office today - lol! Oh well, earn that money to buy those stamping supplies!!!!! - maybe some baby clothes, too!
Good Thursday morning!!!
I slept better last night. I must not have told you my (final) diagnosis. Basically, I have three herniated lumbar discs, one completely torn. This had to have happened aprox. 10 yrs ago, when I fell down my basement stairs, and had a compound fracture of my tibia, broke my fibula, and 4 breaks in my ankle. When I started weight bearing 7 months later, is when I had excrusiating back pain. I got passed around from doctor to doctor, with NO answers.
Now, having a new doctor, and more back pain, I decided to pursue it again. Anyway, THIS TIME my MRI showed the herniated and torn discs. I mostly have pain when I am standing and walking. No pain when I am not weight bearing. So, I had another Discogram and Cat-scan. My Neurosurgeon explained to me that the Discogram isn't a good test for me, because you are LAYING DOWN during the test. However, it is the ONLY test presently. The Cat-scan showed that I have severe spinal stenosis. Basically when I fell, bone fragments from the inside of my spine chipped off, and over the years, has caused irritation, and formed bone spurs, which are causing more pain. The bad thing is that surgery is too risky. So, I have to live with the pain, and it will get worse. So, I will just treat the pain the best I can, and live with it.
Sorry I wrote a book!!! I started the Percacet a few weeks ago, and it helps. It just doesn't help enough. It still makes me sleepy, but I think that will pass. I have a great husband that does a lot that I can't, like grocery shopping, some cleaning, etc.
Oh, Linda. It hurts my heart to hear of all you have been through. I am glad that you found a new doctor and are clearly advocating for your own health. Good heavens, I can't even imagine all that you have been through and have to deal with presently. I, too, will keep praying for a better treatment for conditions such as yours.
Amen, to cheering for our wonderful husbands! Whatever would we do without them? I pray to God I never have to find out! Sounds like we all are blessed in that deparmtent. Of course, our hubbies are blessed with us, too!
