Hi everyone! the thread title caught my attention so since I live in IL too I figured I'd pop in and say hi! I am in O'Fallon in the metro east St. Louis area (we live in the IL OF which gets confusing with another O'Fallon on the west side of STL) and am only about 5 minutes from the Scrapbook Factory and Archiver's stores in Fairview Heights....yes, I am a lucky duck!

Anyone who lives close enough to Minders to get there for a class should go...not only is she a great stamper but she is a hoot! Jan

I think you will find the trip worth while. There is also a nice little coffee and sandwich shop a few doors down from the Rubber Rainbow.

How fun! Sounds like a great day trip... now if we could just figure out how to reduce the cost of gasoline!

Ummmmm....sometimes I'm mainly a hobby demo but I do have classes now and then, I just had or tried to have three...unsuccessfully....it really depends on my work schedule/personal life stuff....(I was doing really well last year and then put off having classes due to planning my wedding and people really haven't picked it back up with me)

I work well over 40 hours a week and the past month and May are crazy for me! Hard to have classes when you work all day, work nights, and work weekends:-p

I'll let you know when I get something scheduled....I am going to be having a rummage sale with LOTS of retired stuff for sale on June 4. Let me know if you want more details.

Where are you?

I'm in northwest Illinois... quite a ways from Decatur. UGH! But I travel the state a lot... so I'm always looking for opportunities when I'm out and about!

With the price of gas and groceries continuing to go up who can afford stamps anyway. I have been away from stamping for a while and just getting back to it, so all of my old stamps are new to everyone now. Sometimes procrastinating pays off doesn't it. Believe me, I am an experienced procrastinator.

Linda have you tried searching the Stampin Up site for demos so you can try some workshops? I know there are several in Decatur. I'm not sure if we're supposed to put names on here. Does anyone know?

Welcome to the Illinois group, "Paws to Scrap"!!!

Looks like I'm going to have to make a trip to Tremont SOON ! ! ! It would be fun to meet up with some of you for lunch if several of us want to make the trip at the same time.

Mindy, does your schedule ease up a bit when school is over??? I wouldn't mind driving, to save on gas!!! Just let me know if anyone is interested.

I'll be gone a little while. I'm going to spend some time in Chicago with my son.

"Paws", I hope you have another name!!!

My headache is a bit better today!!! I might make a card this evening!!!

Jeanette, have a good and safe trip. Let us know what all you find out there!!!

Mindy, let me know before you have your garage sale, please!!!

Betty, I will be in Chicago until May 12th. I also have a trip planned the first part of June. It will be after that before I can get up to Tremont. Anyone interested in checking out the Rubber Rainbow when I get home,...let me know!!! I'd be glad to drive from the Decatur area. I think there is another shop not too far from Tremont, in the Peoria area.

Mindy, if you're interested, we could go when your schedule slows down!!!

Betty, I'll let you know in advance!!!

The sale will be June 4. I'll send you a PM closer to the date. I'm doing a garage sale with my mom at her house which is close to mine! So I'll message you the hours and address and what not I don't even really remember what's in my boxes downstairs

I'll probably pass on the stores...I'm strictly SU and the hubby would KILL me if I spent a ton more money on stuff....or convince himself that HE needed to spend the equivalent of what I did/do, LOL! He wanted an ipad 2 last month so he kept encouraging me to spend money so he could "justify" HIS expense of over $700...LOL....men hahaha!

I'm so glad to get the info. on the store in Tremont. Thank you! I'm going to have to check it out. SU is my favorite, but I love going to new stores! The only independent stores I know in Bloomington are Keepsake Element and Scrapbook Friend'z. I know they both have websites and ironically are located about 2 miles from each other! There's a LSS in Peoria that I like, too. It's called Scrapadoodle. Big selection of everything stamping, scrapping. If you're into punches, they have the biggest selection of any place I've ever seen.
Happy stamping and thank again!

Default Looking for Card-Makers in Illinois

Hi! I'm also from IL. I live approx. 30 miles SW of Chicago although I am in Chicago (downtown Loop) 5 days a week (work).

I too am a stampaholic!!!! Remember Stella Stamper (an old SU set)? That is me totally!! If it has anything to do with making cards...I'll check it out!!!!

I just recently got my own room to play in and I LOVE IT!!!! It's not 100% done yet but its done enough that I can play and have FUN. Its the BEST room in the house and "MY FAVORITE PLACE".

Happy Creating!!!!

Another Illinois person here. I'm about 50 miles from Chicago. Out in the burbs. Lot's of stores in and around me. Sometimes too many.

In a couple of years. I'll be moving to Meredosia IL. It's a small town. No Stop lights or good shopping.

I will have to drive about 50 miles one way to get to any Craft stores.

Welcome to both of you!!!
Nancy,...I don't think I could live too close to Stamping stores!!! I would love it!!! DH might not agree wit me though!!! I make do pretty well,....buying on line is always fun for me. Between Springfield, Bloomington, Tremont, and Mattoon, I can find decent shops within 45 to 60 minutes.

Nancy, it will probably be a big change for you after your move to Meredosia.

What is our other lady's name from Chicago???

I leave for Chicago on Saturday morning. I am going on the Amtrak, so won't be doing any card supply shopping. One day, I will get brave, and drive. My son lives off of Lake Shore Drive, close to the stadium. Parking is on the street, and is awful!!! I would bore my son if I were to shop for stamps, anyway.

Yes it will be an adjustment for me. But I have a group of ladies, That I will be getting together with once a month. So I will be spending the weekends with them.

So I will be able to go shopping at the craft stores.

I know Springfield and Quincy have a few good Craft Stores. So I should be ok.

I can always buy online.

And of course I will always have SCS to help enable me.

Good morning, Illinois stampers! Just thought I would let you Central Illinoisan's or anyone who wants to make a road trip that Scrapbook Friend'z, one of the 2 LSS's in Bloomington is closing. I got an email this morning saying that all merchandise is 50% off. Apparently, they are staying open until the inventory is gone. Could be some good bargains, ladies! If anyone needs directions, just let me know!
Happy stamping!

Oh no! My BFF lives in Btown and I loved that store. I don't buy anything but SU now but it's fun to window shop and I hate to hear of a local place going out of business. That was a good store too!!!! We had a store in Decatur for a very brief time, so sad

Hi all! Just wanted to say that I'll be having a rummage sale on June 4th in Decatur and I'll have a lot of scrap/stamp stuff for sale. Some is SU and some is just old stuff I need to clear out. Message me for hours and address/directions if you're interested. My mom will be moving soon so she should have a lot of furniture and other stuff for sale and I have a TON of clothes (nice stuff, the Limited and places like that) in sizes 0-6 so let anyone who may need furniture or clothes know!!!! Mom should have clothes for sale too but I I'm guessing they are circa 1986, LOL!!!!! She should have sizes 6-10 in all honesty I think. WHo knows if she'll get my step dad to get rid of any of his junk

I'm also going to set up a booth to sell all the excess cards I have that I make but don't seem to send, lol!!!! I hope some of you can stop by even if it's just to chat

Hi Patti! Good to meet you. I wish I had known about the store in Centralia. I'd have checked it out last week when I traveled to Mt. Vernon. What's the name of the store, in case I'm back in the area again? I live in northwestern Illinois.

Hello, Patti! It's just crazy to me how many people there are on this site/thread that live in Illinois. I had a great-aunt who live in Centralia for many years. Alot of my Grandpa's family were from down that way! I like shopping at Fairview Heights, too. Although, I don't get down that way much anymore. What great memories you and your niece are creating together (besides some beautiful stamping projects)!
Happy stamping.

Hi Patti,
I hope everyone is busy creating!!!

I hope everyone is having safe weather lately. There were tornados that touched down close to where I live this morning,...but I slept through everything!!! The weather sure has been devastating this year!!!

Mindy, are you ready for school to be over with???

I used to drive through Centralia a lot, on my way to Carbondale, where my two kids went to college. I LOVED that area!!! Then on to Paducah, KY area.

Hope everyone is having a great week!!!

Yes and no....my job is odd in that I'm only at the school AFTER school so I'm ready to be done with late nights and weekends BUT now I have to be in the clinic ALL day five days a week now with people I don't like Not really ready for that. Supposed to have regional games tonight and tomorrow but not sure with all this rain now. SO I might have to work Friday night, boo!!! And I have to work Saturday on my "three" day weekend.....blah!!! Oh well...I get to see the new SU catty next week and go to Vegas in about three so I can't complain too much

Mindy, is your clinic for the Decatur schools? I am excited to see the new SU catalog too!!! Sounds like you have a lot to look forward to this summer!!!

We are going to Michigan for a high school graduation. While there, we always have several LSS to check out. Yippee!!!

I have a doctor appointment this afternoon. When I was in Chicago, my left side decided to give me Heck!!! Lower back, knee and foot. It still isn't any better, and I hate not being able to walk or stand for more than a few minutes!!! Hopefully, my doc will get things rolling!!!

I actually work at Decatur Memorial Hospital (at a physical therapy clinic) and then I'm contracted out to Eisenhower High School. SO I work for the hospital AND at the school but I'm paid by the hospital.....

Linda hope your doctor gets you back on your feet. I know there is nothing worst then feet and leg pain. I have had two total knee replacements. And recently broke my foot and having rough time getting it to heal.

Right now I am really frustrated with my regular doctor!!! My appointment was at 4:30 today, and the weather was getting bad. I think her and her staff were in a hurry to leave, to beat the storm. Anyway, she was scheduling an MRI for my lower left back, and turn me over to the Pain Clinic.

I didn't get an answer on my knee or foot, but have decided to call her in the morning and tell her I want exrays on both!!! Then, if it doesn't show anything, I want to be referred to a podiatrist, and an ortho-doc for my knee, unless I can get someone to fix both.

I am so tired of this pain. I've had it off and on for about 10 years. It's just gotten unbearable and it's time to fix it!!!

Thanks for letting me vent!!!

Linda, I work for Dr. Becton, he's a great sports med doc. I also know many of the orthos in town. PM me if you want more info about the docs....

Linda:
I, too, am sorry that your doctor's appointment left you feeling neglected and uncared for. That's a horrible feeling! Sounds like you've got a good resource in Minders since she works in the field. There also are 2 really awesome orthopedists and a really good podiatrist here in Bloomington. One of the orhopedists (he did surgery for me on a shattered wrist I got back in Nov. 2010) I used to babysit for when he was a kid! Talk about making you feel your age! They also have a wonderful group of physical therapists. I have regained almost total use of my hand after having a titanium rod, screws and plate put in. Boy, do I feel blessed! Anyway, if you want any info. on these docs, feel free to pm me.
Thanks for your blog address Patti. I'm off to check it out. I love your "philosphy" on stamping.
I'm also excited as my DH and I are hitting Rubber Rainbows in Tremont on Sat. My mojo has been in the sewer lately, so maybe they will help pull it up!
Hang in there, ladies!

Good morning, ladies!
My DH and I made a roadtrip to Peoria yesterday via Tremont. We stopped at Rubber Rainbows. I don't think I've ever seen so many rubber stamps in one place - including Archivers. Very, very nice owner - Carla. She has LOTS of sample cards made up using a large variety of the stamps they sell. I, of course, "had" to buy a few. She really does have a wonderful selection along with some paper, embellishments, punches, markers, etc. I will definitely be making a trip back and it is well worth the drive. Easy to find, too. Right on the main drag in Tremont.
Thanks so much for letting me know about this store. It's awesome!!!!!
