[QUOTE=Loretia;18704271]Pat, that sounds like alot of fun! What about a button (for flower centers), a sponge of some sort (for sponging backgrounds, etc.)...I'll keep thinking! You all should have a ball.

Good idea on the buttons and sponges, Loretia. Thanks!

Pat that scavenger hunt idea sounds like fun. My friend and demo has talked about having a night where everyone just comes and works on something and that would be something she could use. Do you mind if I borrow your idea?
Loretia - how's your sister? I know the younger of the cousins here - she is the same age as my son and they ran in the same crowd - both nice young ladies who also came close to losing their mother so I'm sure they're pretty sensitive to the situation. I pray she can find peace and comfort and the same for all her family.
We are looking forward to next weekend here. It's the Apple n Pork Festival and my sister/brother-in-law always come from Michigan for it and this year my son and his girlfriend are coming from Ohio. I'm very excited about seeing everyone.
We're halfway through the week ladies - hang in there!

sorry jen. There is nothing worst then when you order something and the package comes and you open it with excitement and then get bummed when the one thing you were wanting is not there. Hope it gets here and you can still get lots of use out of it.

Sure, Cindy, go right ahead and tell your demo friend!! I got my samples for the tag night made up...and really they're just so stinkin' cute!! Plus, my friend is going to do two nights of fun--one for her friends and one for her clients (she's a massage therapist). I'm using 2" by 4.25" strips. They are just the right size for tags plus that size uses up an entire 8 1/2" x 11" piece of paper. Now, I need to come up with the supply list we need for the workshop plus the "how to" instructions. I'm having work stations where 3-4 people can work at the same time. Since I sell Longaberger baskets, each work station will be in a basket--with everything to make the two tags at that station in the basket.

I stopped at our local library to get the "Make Two- Take One" for Operation Write Home date set. Since Oct. 1st is World Card Making Day, I'm rolling out my OWH idea that day.

Pat - that sounds like a really fun evening. I am going to pass this along. She likes to do something different every now and then and I think this would hit the spot. Thanks a bunch!!

Good Morning Illinois Friends!

I'm busy this week getting ready for my Stamping & Scrapping ONLY Yard Sale that will be this Saturday! EEK! So many things to price, plus I'm preparing some Make and Take projects to do with those who want to hang around long enough to do one.

Good afternoon Ladies! I can't believe it is only Tuesday! This week has felt so long! I think that if I could just get some energy it would be so much better.

Loretia - how is your sister? I am still praying for her and your family.
Linda - how are you feeling?
Mendi - how is football going? Our boys are 2 & 2 now (hopefully we will pull above 500 this week!)

Hope everyone is having a great week and enjoying some of this beautiful weather.

Football is terrible Have yet to win a varsity game....long season for sure. I've been very busy which is why I haven't posted much. Off to practice in a few. I had to take my dog to the vet for a ruptured/abscessed a**l gland, ouch! Poor thing, they are going to have to sedate her and clean it out. I feel so bad for her and I hate that I had to get to work and leave her there, she hates the vet!!!! But now my mom and hubby are like fighting over who gets to pick her up since I don't know what time I'll be done tonight, lol!

So, football is bad, the dog is sick and I'm probably going to be poor after this vet bill, lol!

Good morning, stamping friends!
Thank you all for your wonderful prayers. My sister passed away very peacefully on Tuesday morning.
I feel very blessed to have become connected through SCS to a group of women who are and were willing to pray for she and our family. I keep all of you and your families in my prayers, too.
As Clairee said in the movie "Steel Magnolias" (one of my all-time favorites): "That which does not kill us, makes us stronger."! Amen to that one! I'll bet each one of us should be forged in steel by now!
Thanks again, ladies and have a wonderful day!

I just checked our IL thread...Loretia, I'm so sorry for your loss. I am out visiting the new granddaughter of mine. And of course, I brought my stampin stuff along! I stamped Reagan's little feet in Pumpkin Pie. I think I'll do something with them--maybe create a collage display in a frame with her picture in it too. I worked on my card samples for my Operation Write Home event on World Card Making Day (Oct. 1st). This will be an open invitation event, so I hope I'll have people respond that they are attending BEFORE the event so I can plan my supplies out.

I head back to IL tomorrow. It's been so much fun caring for my little g-daughter. I know I will be sad to leave. She'll be back in IL for her baptism on Oct. 9th.

Have a great rest of the weekend everyone!

Loretia,
I am so sorry to hear about your sister's passing. My prayers continue for you and your family.

I've been very busy lately, and not gotten anything accomplished. I think we might take a break and get out of town for a few days. We both need to just have some new scenery!!! Then, I am officially making the month of October dedicated to my craft room!!! I haven't touched anything to do with card-making in ages. I am going to buy some yarn, and make some scarves for the Grandkids (if I remember how to). Hopefully, when I get my craft room situated, I will get my Mojo back for stamping!!!

My Lil' Peanut is already three weeks old!!! All he wants to do is eat and sleep!!! Since I can't feed him, he doesn't want too much of Gramma yet!!!

I wet to my 40th Class Reunion last weekend. It was so much fun!!! I saw friends that I hadn't seen in 40+years!!! Almost everyone remembered me. I wasn't as good at remembering others!!!

Well, I have to get busy around here. I have laundry and cleaning to get done today!!! I hope everyone has a good weekend.

Good morning, ladies!
Linda, I highly recommend "getting out of town"! We all need a break from time to time.
Pat, what a cute idea to stamp your little angel's feet in ink and use them as a starting point for a collage, picture, etc.!
Cindy, I got to see our mutual acquaintances at the visitation and funeral. The whole family came. It was really good to visit with them.
Good grief, Mindy! A 16 hr. day! I think I would be toast. Maybe it is time for a new job - lol!
I actually got back to coloring some stamped images yesterday. No cards yet, but that will happen soon enough!
Thanks again everybody for your prayers, sympathy and concern. I think it's the love of God, family and friends that get us all through the tough times in life!
I hope everyone enjoys this fall weather today. Happy stamping!

My fondest regards to each of you!

Yeah, I DO need a new job! I didn't have to work quite that long on Sat but it was still a long day and I got nothing done yesterday, blah! NOW, I have to work a soccer game for LSA tonight and geez is it cold and windy out! The past two got cancelled but of COURSE the one I have to cover is a go, lol! Just my luck! I hope it doesn't rain either!

I need to apply for new jobs but I've been lazy....and stamping is more fun than filling out applications, haha! And I'm scared to get a new job, I hate being the new person...I got another job a few years ago and it was terrible (the doctor I was working for was one of the meanest/nastiest people I've ever met!!!) so I came back to my old one, now I'm gun shy, lol! I need to get over that!!!!

Girls, while I was looking at the SCS technique section, I thought...geez--there's some really cool stuff here!! So, I'm going to start with learning a new technique--going down A to Z. Sometimes a person just needs to expand their crafting abilities! So starting this week, I'll learn something "new." And I hope that some of the new techniques I can showcase in my future workshops.

Loretia I just got on and caught up. I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I pray for your family and hope you all find comfort.
It is that time of year where we start thinking about staying in and snuggling up. I've had company since Friday but everyone will be gone tomorrow. I've enjoyed the visits but I'm looking forward to a nice quiet evening too. Fall is officially here for me with the Apple N Pork Festival over - that always feels like the end of summer to me.
Have a wonderful week everyone!

I love the idea of trying a new technique each week or so, Pat. I think that after I finish our Christmas, Halloween and Thanksigiving cards (which are all works in progress), I'm going to give your idea a try. Good way to expand our mojo and try new things.
This morning is when my friends come over to stamp for a few hours. Yeah! I'm ready to just kick back, chat and make cards.
Cindy, I'm with you. This weather is great for staying in, snuggling up and making chili!!!! Sounds wonderful!
I hope everyone has at least one thing happen today that makes you smile!

Good morning Ladies! Got started on some Haloween cards last night. The rest of my week is pretty quiet so hopefully I will have more time to work on them!

Is anyone planning on going to the Spoon River Scenic Drive this weekend? I haven't gone for the last few years, but I just may have to go take a look this year...might find some neat ideas for decorations for my house..

My daughter called me last night from Monmouth College and told me that she is planning on spending her summer in Argentina! I knew she was going to have to study abroad for her major at some point - but wasn't planning on it being so soon! Of course she has to get all of the funding arranged first so it may end up being NEXT summer! I am excited for her but at the same time, it scares me to think of her in a different country all by her self! I guess this is where I learn to let go and allow her to grow up

Have a great day eveyone!

TinaMarie, what is the Spoon River Scenic Drive? Do I need to go to it???

Oh, that is challenging to think of your DD being in another country. She will have the experience of a lifetime, I'm sure! But it is tough to give them their wings and let them fly from the nest of home. Hugs!!! (What is her major?)

The Spoon River Scenic Drive is basically a large craft showcase. Several towns along the Spoon River have different activities and there are always tons of vendor booths and of course lots of good food! I live in Lewistown so ours is mainly at the fair grounds, but other towns have theirs in the town square. Farmington is always a great place to go (but the traffic is usally terrible!), Canton always sets up, as well as London Mills and Bernedotte & Smithfield. If you have never been, it is an experience!

Here is a link to some information: Spoon River Valley Scenic Drive.

WOW! Looks like fun... thanks for the link! Sure wish I'd known about this in previous years, since it looks like we lived much closer to it BEFORE we moved 3 months ago. LOL!

Jeanette - Lacie is a Spanish major. Her goal is to teach at either the high school or college level. Her college advisor is this amazing woman from Argentina. She has helped her in so many ways and we are only in her second year. she already has her thinking about Grad school and beyond. She lets Lacie help teach her 101 class and in her free time is teaching her both Italian and Portuguse.(I know I spelled that wrong!). She also wants to learn French, German and Japanese.

WOW! That's impressive! Lacie sounds like a very dedicated student with a good sense of what she wants to do! You must be very proud of your daughter!!!

Sounds like she's found a great role model in her teacher, too.

Good morning, everyone!
Tina Marie, that would be hard to let your daughter go to South America. It's so hard for us to let our "babies" go. I remember an episode of the TV show "Designing Women" and 2 of the characters Grandma had made them each a pillow that had a butterfly on it. The saying embroidered on it was: "My darling, I gave you roots and now I give you wings". That pretty much says it all to me! Oh, but it's just hard to let them fly!

Big news in my email yesterday. There's a new scrapbook store called "Scrapbook Studio" opening Oct. 15 in Bloomington. They're going to be located in the old "Scrapbook Friend'z" location. I can't wait to check them out!!!!

We have done the Spoon River Drive before and found it lots of fun. Well worth the trip.

As I should be cleaning my house right now, I'll say have a good day!

Loretia: thanks for the news about the new LSS in Bloomington...I'll check it out the next time I'm in town.

TinaMarie: I've been to Spoon River Drive once...living over near Covered Bridge Festival (1 1/2 hrs. away) I usually head that way. BUT I only go whenever the trees are pretty...I see a few trees starting to turn colors

Headed to my upline tonight to "borrow" a few items I didn't have (like more ADHESIVE--how could I have forgotten? lol) for my World Card Making Day on Saturday. I hope I have a dozen people...that's the hard part...I promoted in the paper so I have no idea how many will attend. I live in a small town, so I would guess it won't be too many...

Work has been hectic this week, so the next two days will be catching up. I plan to take my assistant to our local pumpkin patch tomorrow to star on a plan of work for the coming year.

Have a great fall day, ladies!

Good morning everyone! It is a beautiful day - wish I didn't have to spend it inside at my desk!

I just spoke with my daughter - her advisor is working on getting approval for her to stay with her family while she is in Argentina. That would be a huge relief for me - it would be almost like staying with family. I would feel so much better about letting her go!(Not to mention that it will cut our costs almost in half!!)

I have actually been able to work on a few cards this week. I had set a goal for myself to send a new hand made care to Lacie every week this year (she gets so excited when I make her card instead of buying it!) I didn't get off to a very good start, but I have now sent her one 2 weeks in a row!

I am going to have to schedule a day of shopping soon to check out the new LSS! Thanks for the info! since my hubby and son are going to the races this Sunday - Lacie is coming home and we are going on the drive. Should be fun!

Have a great day everyone!
