From what I hear, we are having a 4-day week due to the hurricane. Can't wait. Of course, this means one of the days off in Sept. we won't have because it is used now but that is OK.

Tonight we are having Parmesan baked chicken and tortellini w/tomato cream sauce. The sauce is actually white, just has tomatoes in it.

I put too much spinach in the tortellini dish last night. I had no problem with it but 3 of the kids were not happy. They liked the chicken though, which I didn't eat. I have 2 good sized pieces left that could probably be used in a salad or something.

I have to have our dishwasher looked at. Last week it filled with water and overflowed onto the floor while we slept. Yesterday it filled with water again but I went to add dishes and run it when I saw it. Fortunately, no flood this time. I'm thinking twice in less than a week is more than a fluke. Need to make that call.

I wouldn't like the extra spinach either.
Chicken in a salad sounds like a good idea.

Deborah - the desk turned out fantastic! And such a wonderful story behind it.

Aubs - I hope the kids have settled down a bit this week.

Mary - you do sound chair challenged! I have an antique desk in my stamp room along with a modern cheap dining table (which is my main stamp table) and both of them have cushy office chairs. I need to be comfortable when I stamp!

Jen - long time, no see.

So...I've been sick for the past week. Started in my throat and moved down into my chest. Yesterday was the first day I started to feel better. Had my class last Friday night in the midst of being sick. Had a full house and it went great, but I was wrecked the next day.

Week before last we went to Santa Barbara on a little vacation and took Tessa with us. I put a few pics up on my blog just yesterday.

I started the new Weight Watcher program and I've lost 3.8 pounds so far (gained some on vacation and then lost it last week.) I'm motivated by the big birthday I have coming up in February.

Taylor's baby is due in less than 4 weeks, so we are working like crazy to get ahead on stuff at TE.

I guess that's the basic catch-up for me.

Looks like we will still have that 4-day week in Sept. Every report shows it further east, enough now that I'll be surprised if we get any rain. I haven't watched the weather at all but I heard a blip on the radio this morning and it sounds like they are more concerned about the surf and beach erosion. Either way, I'm OK with it.

Jami, are you feeling back to normal, or at least better?

I caught you were on a trip but haven't looked at the pictures yet. I'm usually on my iPod when I log on and it is too small of a screen to see pics well. IMO. Maybe I'm getting old eyes.

I think I have decided that they are all good kids it's just a bad mix of kids like they bring out the worst in each other. Child by child most are super neat kids. Rhey are better in some ways and wosre in others as a whole class I really think their first grade report will scare them into shape. I hope- I am just waiting for the program to be ready for the school I've kept on top of the grading . Just need to enter them when the school gets their stuff together!

Funny how they are with each other. I see that a lot with kids in church classes or scouts. Individually, they are awesome but when they are together, watch out!

I was about to post, where is Mary with her *tissues*, *tea* and whatever else she thinks of when people need it. Then I thought she probably needs the *pillow*, *breathing*, *tylenol/motrin*, etc. Poor thing.

Glad you are feeling better and hope you are back to your usual self quickly.

I did a less than brilliant thing tonight. I went to make dinner, was already pushing the time. I started the recipe, jumped ahead to see how long it had to cook (new recipe) and kept going. Had a kid come in to help with a few things to speed it up. Then I get to, "cover and refrigerate overnight." What?! There went dinner. Hey, it is ready to go for tomorrow night though. The kids had to fend for themselves because I had to be at board of reviews tonight. We actually had 2 boards because their were so many boys needing advancement. Which is pretty cool. There are about 20 rank advancements and 100+ merit badges for the upcoming court of honor.

Beyond laundry, which there isn't much of, I don't have too much on my schedule for the next couple of days. There are things I *should* do, but I'm not really motivated to do those things. I'm thinking I may just finish off a book I've been reading and start a new one. Maybe bake some peach bread or something. Still dreary here from Irene, still looking at low 90's though. I can't wait for some cooler weather and to open the windows.

We had to go to the pet store today for some cotton for the gerbils. They had a pretty cool carrier for a rabbit so we got it. It will be a lot easier (read less room) when we move. We will be able to flatten the cage and toss it in the back or trunk and still have a way to contain the bunny.

Eating dinner at 5pm and then staying up till midnight is not a good combo for the diet. I'm hungry. Hoping I can go to sleep anyway.

Drink some water so your stomach has something in it. Might help.

Exactly what I was going to say. I just read somewhere that if you get that late night hunger, a glass of water does wonders. I guess it would fill enough to get to sleep.

I have to take a snack/treat to a mother/daughter event this week. I have no clue what to take. I saw someone write brownies and someone else put cookies on the sign up sheet. I'm thinking I should opt for something not sweet, but what? I wrote signed up to bring "something yummy". I hope I come up with something soon.

I took everyone shopping tonight. I have the kids getting their pictures done on Saturday and left it that if they saw something they liked, let me know and we'd get it. Also looked for a purse for B for the mother/daughter event.

You know those dresses that are like a maxi, strapless and have the smocking to go across your chest. We found one tonight that was on clearance and one of the girls liked it. Obviously, not an appropriate dress for her, but we are going to cut off a foot and half or so, hem it and she is going to use it as a skirt with a white blouse she has for pictures. You couldn't even buy the fabric for what we paid. Pretty happy with that purchase.

I like the idea of cutting the dress and making it into a skirt. I bet it will be adorable.
