Lee, I still need to make a sympathy card, too. Just didn't get the chance yesterday. I try to make a couple extra every time I need one so next time it isn't so hard.

Lydia, oh my heck that's awesome! I need to get moving on my spending freeze! I'll be adding letterpress paper to my "must buy" list.

Isn't there always?

Lee, so sorry to hear about your friend. Like most people, I find sympathy cards difficult, although usually more so with what to put on the inside, but even the outside seems more difficult just knowing what is for.

Does anyone have a crafty idea for little mini 3 musketeers shaped candy?

I found some that are dark chocolate and MINT - whee! - and I wanted to do something with them for my December class but I'm stumped.

I thought about it and then realized I would have to dig through the remains of the Halloween candy to get a better feel of how big they are.

First thing that came to mind was a bottle hanger tag with a bullet belt look - you've seen the water bottle tags with one of those little mini sticks of mix in that you dump into the water? Not a very good description - then tack down lightly each min bar, cut paper in a strip or strips, bend and fold around each bar and decorate top of each bar. Water and chocolate - what a meal!

I was curious since that is where we are at right now. I love it, we went up the mountains a bit for the 4th this year and could see 3 or 4 different fireworks displays.

I know it is a sacrifice, so they don't get too much sugar, but definately one I am willing to make.

YEA - enjoy your time there - Sierra Vista has grown quite a bit since I was there last - 1998, and the base seems about the same. My folks retired to Tombstone - they have past and are buried there - I would like to come back down again. Yes, fireworks in that area would be awesome.

DH was here for training 10 years ago and when we got here last summer, he was amazed at how much SV had expanded. We even have a Super Wal-mart now, just opened up last week.

WOWZEER - a super Wal-Mart - what has become of this world. I remember my dad getting paid once a month, we would drive to Tucson and do some major shopping - make a big deal out of doing it all. I have to drive 20+ miles either direction to get to a Wal-Mart but then living next door to a big city there are certainly more stores available to us.

Thanks gals....it's so wonderful to have friends like you all!

Well...I'll be stampin' later.....but gotta get this bathroom cleaned and reorganized first....DH brought up a different storage cabinet and hopefully it will make the small bathroom look neater and cleaner when I'm done!

I was excited when we moved here, because we didn't have a super wal-mart, the last place we were stationed, that was pretty much it for shopping. We make it up to Tucson every couple of months so I can go shopping for craft stuff.

Andrea I did a little comparison on ink and paper with the letterpress if you wanna peek Understand Blue: LOVE-ly Letterpress

The best is definitely on real live letterpress paper - I got mine from Crane, but some local places might have it depending on where you live.
Loved checking the letterpress post that you did on your blog!
and had two questions.....
ONE, Will the press plates work on the Cuttlebug?
Two, Does SU sell the letterpress paper? If not, bet they will soon!!!!
HUGS, joanne

I'm sure with the right sandwich they will work in the CB - I don't see why not.

And I bet SU will find their way to letterpress paper if they like the sales on these plates. It's SO much better.

As much as I love peanut butter cups, the chocolate to peanut butter ratio in ones that big would probably be way off for my tastes.

Sort of like that but it's just two layers. Then I cut them with a fluted biscuit cutter. The family gets the scraps if I'm making them for something special lol

Oh and my recipe has PB melted in with the chocolate

Give me a bit to get one kid in nap and the other watching a movie and I'll post it here.

That's one recipe I'll have to make.

OK here goes
These are SOOO good. I always make a double batch and make them in a sheet pan lined with waxed paper. One easy way to get the bottom layer to spread out is to cover with waxed paper and then roll with a rolling pin.

Bottom Layer:
1 C PB
2C Powdered sugar
1/2C Butter, melted
6 graham crackers crushed

Mix & press into bottom of pan

Top Layer:

1/3 C PB
6 OZ Chocolate Chips
melt together, cool slightly while stirring, pour on top of above layer, spread evenly

Refrigerate and cut as desired

One of the reasons I double the batch is because it then uses one cello pack of graham crackers and one bag of chips. No counting/measuring lol
