I took the kids over to my mom's after practices tonight to start working on her basement. OH. DEAR. LORD.

We got one small corner of a counter and cupboards emptied and cleaned. There is a WHOOOOOLE lot more basement! There's a little kitchen area down there. An older couple who actually had it built.....well, the wife was a very nasty mean old lady......lol.......and her husband made his own area in the basement where he lived, even cooked his own meals, so he put a kitchen area in down there. Found lots of cool stuff, but SO torn on what to do with it all! I did manage to take out 5 brown bags of trash.

I'm gonna make some more veggie soup tomorrow, and some beer bread to go with it! We stopped at Trader Joe's yesterday and Barb and I sampled some.....it was delicious AND only $2 a box! I probably should have bought more than 2! But I had too many punches to buy! hehehe!

What a sad marriage that was. Is some of their stuff still in the basement too?

I know, I KNOW!!! What an eye opener. None of the older couple's stuff is there, when they passed their kids sold everything in the house and then my grandma and grandpa bought it. There is just tons of my grandma's stuff, who lived through the Great Depression and saved *absolutely* EVERYTHING! Mom has thrown stuff out. Or so she says. lol. I told her maybe we should just have that antiques show come through there! There is so much stuff, that may or may not be worth anything. I did some pitching, put some things in a tub that I thught to be worth $$$, and some to be sold in a yard sale or go to Goodwill. I mean there is some *neat* old stuff! Some Shirley Temple stuff......antique glass.....an original electric mayonnaise mixer, that I plugged in to try and it works perfectly.....lol......SO many antique appliances! And I've only been in that one area. *sigh* The WHOLE basement is FULL. Full. Full. FULL. Mom is a hoarder too, so there are 2 hoarders STUFF in that small house!

Rachella - I remember my grandma's house had a complete kitchen in her basement but not because of a bad marriage. She had a lot more room down there to do her canning/freezing and it was much cooler in the summer.

Maybe it would be worth contacting an antique dealer maybe they would haul the stuff out and give you a fair price for what they take?

Good Morning Girls ~

Loey - Welcome home, sorry to hear about your mom. Glad to you had a nice visit with family. Good luck with your open house.

Rachella - wow, what a find. I would call someone and have them come over and go thru the stuff and take care of it.

So happy to hear everyone is home safe and sound and that everyone had good weekend.

Debbie - yes I agree with mom cluck...get back to that Dr. I still have a cough from being sick...it sticks around for a long time. I'm 99% better than I was, but still have it.

Becky - glad to hear you took the day off after the chickies were there for you to catch your breath. Always a great time at your place.

Everyone enjoy their day.

Nancy hope you had a great birthday!

Joan so you made some $$ did you have a blast with Joanne.

Malaine Joanne, how was your weekend together? Did you get in much trouble? Did you go to Kitchen Kettle? Next time I visit I would love to go wander that area.

Crystal hows it going at Fort Hood? I am kinda out of the news loop.

Becky hope you arrived home safe and sound.

Cindy what kinda trouble did you and Danny get into this weekend?
Today is a big Memorial, the President, most of congress and more to be here. I will not go, too hard to get on and off post during a time like that. If we had lost someone we knew it would be different. I am still very saddened by the loss...don't think I am not.

After I wrote it, it sounded so harsh. I can't even imagine myself in those shoes. Did you know he killed an expectant mother. My heart breaks....for all of them...

Sara asked "Why, did they save him?" I told her at first they have too..it is a law, and they took oaths. She said ..No one would care...The more I have thought about this, and talked to Bill and a few others, I think he needs to live, being killed would be the easy way out. He needs to suffer for what he has done. And they are going to try him in a military court. Military prison...isn't like the cake walk of other prisons.

Howdy!!
Yes, I'm still alive!!

I had a great time down JoAnn's. I actually wish I could have stayed even longer!!! Time truly does fly when you are having fun!!

I haven't unpacked my craft stuff yet, I have TOO much to do around the house. I would MUCH rather be doing that, though!!

There is no way I can catch up on the last 5 pages from the previous thread and all the pages here. So.... hugs to anyone in need..... I do know that Bill was at Fort Hood.... and I am very glad he wasn't harmed. Not sure what you all had to say about it.... but here's my 2 cents. I hate hearing some people on TV saying stuff like: "let's not jump to conclusions..... we don't know all the details.... blah blah...." UM.... the man IS A TERRORIST..... his nasty mission accomplished!!! PERIOD!!! ok... off the soap box.

Well.... I really need to get busy around here.... will ttyl
Hope everyone has a good day.

xoxo

Hi, Crystal.... I saw this and wanted to respond real quick. I TOTALLY agree, and I'm glad to know that the Military will be taking care of thisl! It made me ill when I heard he has a lawyer. WHO (or what) would want to represent him!!!

Lucy, I'm hooome!! Hi Chicks, and good morning! I need to do some catching up, but I have no time right now. I'm hoping Bill & Crystal's friends at Ft. Hood are beginning the healing process, that Joan had a successful experience, and the chicks at Becky's had their usual wonderful time.

Nancy, your card was in the mailbox the whole time I was gone! I didn't realize Rick had the mail stopped and the stinkin' mailman didn't even stop and pick up your card! The flag was even still part way up!

good morning chickies...

Barb - love the punches card!!

Cindy - glad you had a great weekend.

Crystal - hugs and prayers. I'm glad that he is being punished in the military court system and he will be treated as terrorist he is.

I read this comment that he made "We love death more then [sic] you love life!" So, not only will he be punished under military law but he will have to live knowing that by suriving....he FAILED!

Joan - welcome home!! Missed you but glad you had a great time.

Beth - welcome home! We missed you this weekend.

Nancy - sorry...I didn't get any birthday cards done this year My goal is to get them done on New Year's day for the whole year (as I did a couple years ago).

I did try to respond to your org. post and tried to type up how I feel and why I would not want to go on base today, and why I think it was a good thing you decided to stay home. I just couldn't put it into words. Your comment didn't sound harsh to me at all.

I too hope he suffers for what he did for the rest of his life.
