If anyone wants in our secret sister swap, PM me with the answers to these questions:

Name
Address
Favorite colour
Favorite candy
Something you'd LOVE to try
Favorite embellishments
Things that you don't need/use

We'll make it a $15.00 minimum. Make sure you are able to commit to getting this out on time before you sign up, we don't want someone with no present to open on opening night! I'll take sign ups until July 11th and we'll open at 9pm EST Friday September 11th. That gives everyone 2 months to shop!

I had a crazy busy day today! My daughter was in a soapbox derby and she came in 3rd in her age group!!! She's 6. I was so proud of her. It was funny because when we first arrived she wanted to go home because she was too scared, but once she got going she had a blast!

My mom went to a garage sale yesterday and found 4 boxes worth of SU stuff, lots of it brand new for cheap so my sister and I told her to buy it all sight unseen. She's bring it by tonight, hopefully we like what we got!

It was fun! There were some things in there that's I've never tried before, like wire, so it'll be interesting to learn some new techniques.

I have three friends from Colombia that are becoming Canadian Citizens so I will spending the day with them, taking pictures and just celebrating this happy event! I become a Canadian Citizen 13 years ago, while pregnant with my daughter! My favourite part was having my picture taken with the handsome Mountie in his nice red uniform! LOL!!!

nothing special I guess - still too much work to do around the house - so I guess I'll be unpacking, organizing, pulling some weeds from the yard

I'll be sure to check it out, I'm sorry I didn't stay on an hour ago to chat, I got distracted making a card which I've just uploaded into my blog. I've been asked to help promote a brand new line of Digi stamps that a lady has just designed with her husband. I'm pretty excited to be a part of it! They are called Sunshine's Stamps.

I know, I've got a box full of snagged images, but my box of cards that are completed and ready to go has somehow emptied out these past couple months! I need to spend more time making cards than snagging!! And of course, socializing is always a good thing too

Kristina, I have a whole shoe box full of cards. I love making the cards, but I rarely send them out...how bad of me! Maybe I should send a few your way! I was thinking about selling them at a yard sale. LOL!

I have zounds of images too! I've been using some, but not at the rate that I've been snagging! And of course I have not been using the stamps I own for anything other then sending out snags to other people, lol! I think there's something wrong with this picture

I always seem to be short on cards, but I give many away, LOL!

I'm interested in what you use your cards for/whom and for what do you actually give cards to/for?

For me, I give a card to any friend, neighbour, or closer workmate when:
- they announce they are expecting a baby
- they have the baby
- they get engaged
- they get married
- they move
- they get a new job
- they retire
- they have a family person pass away
- they are sick or have to have surgery etc.
- thank you if they have done something out of the ordinary nice
- thank you for hostess when going to dinner parties
- they have a b'day (but not always)
- christmas
- recognition (ie. for staff/colleagues after particularly busy times/when they've done something over and above)
- sets of 10 assorted cards in a little box as thank you to give to hostess when going to dinner parties, for thank you gifts in general, for some peoples b'days, for some folks at Xmas

I've seen on some message boards people send cards to the military, give them to old folks homes for the residents to send to their families etc, but I never seem to have cards for that!

What about you guys? To whom and for what do you use your cards?

Gosh, your list makes me wonder "where is my life?" LOL! With 2 small kids we have a very limited social life, just a few friends with kids too. Small immediate family too, and only 8 people in my work place. I have such a hard time making cards for "specific" people that I just make a bunch and then grab one from my stash. It's rare that I make something specific for someone. And, luckily for my pocket book we haven't had a wedding since I started making cards!

So, where have my cards gone recently?
- friend had surgery
- friend/family birthday's (2 - 3 per month)
- birthday's that my children are invited to

Oh my, what an ordinary life I lead! No babies, weddings, moves, new jobs, retirements, dinner parties, deaths or sick people to speak of. Now I see why I have such a stash! I can make 5 - 6 cards a week! Giving them away to an old folks home is a great idea. I may actually look into that.

What about everyone else? I'm interested to see where you cards are going too.

For me I recently have done several birthday cards, I have a HUGE family including my husbands, there were 7 kids in my family and 6 in his and most of my bothers and sisters are married with kids so you can see there's always a couple birthdays in a month. I did a grad card for my husbands youngest sister and then mother's day & father's day cards.

I have been making extra kids cards and parent support cards for a children's hospital, but that old folks home is a good idea too!

My oldest daughter just turned 4 yesterday and she received an adorable card made from her aunt Jenny!! Thank you Jenny!
I haven't made many cards yet. I mostly make scrapbook pages but I recently made two cards for teacher's at my son's school. I can't believe he's done kindergarten and will be in grade 1 in the fall!! Where does the time go??

You may or may not know this, but my husband and I are ministers in one of the Mennonite Churches in this area, specifically, The Eigenheim Mennonite Church, actually, Allan's great, great grand-father, found this church over 100 years ago when the immigrated to Canada from Germany. In any case as a wife's pastor I had the perfect chance to hand out all sorts of cards every week! We have about 120 members of all ages, so there is plenty of opportunities to hand out cards for Birthdays, Anniversaries, Grads, Get Well, New Homes, New Babies, New Pregnancies, Sympathy, you name it, I have made it! I do like to make a cards with the specific person in mind, thinking who they are, what they are like and staff like that, that is my first step before I start with a card, so I don't really have any made ahead of time, I just make them as I need them. Also I just started this tradition this year when I was introduce to Stampin' Up! by one of the ladies of our church. That was my first introduction to card making and I was instantly hooked! So there . . . that is my story!

Laurie...wait a year and you'll be smacking yourself on the forehead at the realization that your little one (like mine this year) will be in Grade 2 in a few months...hard to believe. I think it hit me hard because I actually remember Grade 2.

Laurie...wait a year and you'll be smacking yourself on the forehead at the realization that your little one (like mine this year) will be in Grade 2 in a few months...hard to believe. I think it hit me hard because I actually remember Grade 2.
My daughter also starts Grade 2 in August...however, I'm too old to remember Grade 2, LOL!

My Grade 2 teacher (we lived in Hamilton for a couple of years before returning to Ireland and then immigrating to Calgary) remembers me! She is good friends with my mom's best friend's mother and made me a gingham tablecloth when I got married. How many people can say they got a wedding gift from their Grade 2 teacher?

DD's Grade One teacher is moving back to Edmonton and DD was heartbroken, so if any of you Edmonton ladies get a Miss Adante as a teacher, treat her well...she's a doll!

My DD is starting grade 2 also. I looked at the school supply list and thought "oh my baby is growing up!" No more of those rounded scissors, lol.

I've still got 3 at home though so I'm sure I'll really feel a hit when my youngest gets on that bus!
