Kelly, the furlough is supposed to work like this.

20% of all government spending is cut. That includes government salaries. It does not include congress or the President, of course. Snort. It does not include public assistance such as welfare.

So, the tax payers lose 20% of their income (working 20% fewer hours) and the government has fewer tax dollars with which to pay for the folks who aren't paying for their upkeep anyway. The economy feels the hit of that 20% less spent and it hurts businesses so there are fewer taxes paid by them, and in the long run, what sounds like "wise budgeting " (cut the spending by 20%) no longer looks so very wise.

It's a bunch of smoke and mirrors. Our president chose not to even address the issue until AFTER the deadline. It is my not so unbiased opinion that he wants it to happen so that the closer it gets to people losing 20% of their income (many Americans are over-extended and simply won't be able to pay their bills), they'll panic and demand that their representatives sign an agreement that they wouldn't have supported if it didn't directly hit THEIR pocket books. The congressmen are then forced to agree to that which they disagree with, and it looks like the president "won."

As sick as it sounds, I'm all for the furlough--just a FULL furlough, not a politically-correct, only hurt those who actually pay taxes and are not politicians, furlough.

So furlough is essentially a wonderful sounding euphemism for "we're cutting your hours & paycheque"? If that is the case, then I can understand that it is a money-"saving" measure.
What I couldn't understand was paying people to stay home & not work, which is how it came across in the things I've read. Not one other person whose comments I've read has/have mentioned a paycut.

Oh, no. It includes a paycut. We'll lose about 1600 gross per month.

my secretary's husband has a govt job for a school dist. here... he has days he has to take off work that are called furlough days. ( and he is not paid for them)

supposedly they save money not having the heat and power and such on, in those buildings if they make people stay home. plus there is a loss of pay for staying home.

I don't know how exactly it works, but they take a hit every year in loss of wages (that increases every year) and paying more of their say insurance premiums and such.

Yep. The hard part is that where Kevin works, they actually MAKe money for the government. They rent air space to many places--lots of countries.

Me too. But I got up & have been to Good Friday service, and am back home. I can play for the rest of the day. Going to do some stitching & maybe hit the stamp table.
And definitely will take a meeting!

Well more crap happen yesterday at work. My manager was real nice about it when I talked to her.

But I called her this morning and politely told her "New Managers" new rules for me is not fair because does not apply to any other cashiers and I just don't have to put up with it. So please cover my remaining shifts because I will not be returning. It was nice working with you.

So it is done with. I have learned. NEVER pick a store you LOVE to work at. You will be disappointed.

My Supervisor- now my friend, ( we gave our notice on the same day) gave me a job referral which I will be heading out to in a couple of hours. Which me luck!!!

HA- If it works out, She will be my Supervisor again!

It is 51 degrees out. Nice day to clear the head, and relax. Which I need real bad.

Morning.

My closest LSS is now closing. I knew it was bound to happen once they combined the bead store with the stamp store.

lunch is on the stove, a card is made and picture taken (need to edit it), thinking of reading and taking a nap. I have to leave about 4ish or a little after to go to race. Packet pick up doesn't start until 4:30 but the race isn't until 6. I figure I'll sit in my car for a bit but would rather be early than running behind. Hopefully it won't rain during the race and then I'll come home and crash Tomorrow I need to do my long run and then do an Easter service at 5 followed by dinner out at Ihop

Just checking in for a few minutes. I have friends coming over for dinner.

I'm making hard boiled eggs for my kids to decorate tomorrow. Hopefully they turn out well since I'm using different times since the last time I made them they were over cooked.

Can somebody please tell me what food it is I'm craving so I can just eat that instead of keeping on trying this, that and the other thing & still be craving who-knows-what?

He is after us older women. And I just decide I was not putting up with it and walked early. I am the first one to do this so far. Of the older women that is.

He is all so giving heck to some younger ones and they decided to put up with it for the long run, waiting for him to fire them. So they can file a complaint. I just found this out today. I am totally behind them.

I really think his plan might back fire. I think he might have a bigger fight than he planed. Employees are sticking together and it is good to see this.

I just don't have it in me to take this crap. Never in my life have I been treated this badly at a job, and I just don't think this is the job to fight for, if you know what I mean.

Anyway, I feel much better now. It is all over. Lesson learned.

The whipping cream would put me out of commission. But I am considering some regular brownies. It is one of the few things I will make from a mix and I have one sitting in the cupboard................................

WELL *******!!!!!!!
Either my oven is off or the thermometer is OR the directions.

That is on thing I have found on pintrest. directions on the recipes are a little off on measurements. I have had to readjust a few of the recipes I have made. I did check these brownies at the 10 minute mark, but forgot until the buzzer rang at the 25 minute mark.

the brownies are toasty BROWN !!!!! so much for dessert tonight

I will still dig into them later, never pass up dessert unless it is black!!lol

my house looks like I already did.

And I missed the irony in me saying housework stinks when the house smells better after said work. I'm a goof.

My computer just about took a bath. I am browsing etsy, and some person has labeled a piece of 1990s jewelry as "vintage". What the heck does that make me then?!? Ancient?

Ponytail cover glove and anklet by KnottyCovers on Etsy

I cannot imagine wearing such a thing.

Linda, when I click on their name... its all in Spanish ( I think ) I dont read that...

Flickr: Riscos & Rabiscos "2"

so, they all have copyright symbols under the images so I have no clue.

but, they look like old needlework patterns to me, so I dont know if they are sharing the images for people to use or if they are bragging about a collection they own.

I've heard of people googling "free clip art" or free coloring book pages to get images to color. ( don't know if you have tried anything like that yet) but, on pinterest there are people who have boards of images to color. but, be careful with that... some people are snagging and pinning things that I know good and darn well are not free. they are images that people sell... so, if you see an image you know is for sale somewhere. chances are its up as free as a stolen thing. and I tend to think people who don't know stamp mfg. have no clue what they are snagging but, I don't save that kind of thing my self I do not have good luck coloring printer print outs of anything. so I just buy stamps and stamp them.

to view these images and find the source click on them to be a single image on your screen then click that, its supposed to take you to the website where it came from...
(some things are not pinned correctly to do this)
