Imogene... you do not want to view what my kitchen ( which does not have enough light) looks like at the moment. ( will have to scrub it in the morning.) so its a two sided thing.. the food is wonderful the mess is usually much worse than if I had cooked it my self. ( but, I don't go hunting for things to cook. I just get sent to the store to hunt for the ingd. )

Oh, dinner sounds great. I missed ours (they ate it all while I slept-- and I was up before dinner time!) so I got a burger. Blech.

What IS that holly embossing folder? I WANT THAT.

dunno, they are white and they ( I like them) they are mild. they the sea scallops are usually big enough that I have to cut them to eat them so I had like 3 or 4 tonight with a scoop of pasta and a couple scoops of the rest of it on top and I am so full I could not eat it all.

I asked hubs and he said scallops are a shellfish. ( but, I've never seen or bought them in a shell)

I think that is one of Rachel Rays' favorite cheeses, from when I used to watch her cooking shows.

I saw that in the recipe list. I love using the sea shell pasta for tuna salad.

News just opened with weather...some areas got over a foot of snow. We ended up in the "bullseye" of the storm and they had predicted this part would miss us. oops

Also, deadly crash in Red Wing.

Scallops: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scallops
They are very easy to overcook.

Yes! I'm picky about where I order scallops because 99% of the time, I get them overcooked.

We've been under a freezing rain warning since mid-afternoon, and it looks like it will be continuing overnight and well into tomorrow. Temps are supposed to range from -10C (14F) to 3C (37F) and we are supposed to get a mix of rain, freezing rain and snow over the next 24 hours. Good chance the roads are going to be a total mess tomorrow I think.

Our commutes will be a huge mess. Blowing winds are supposed to be heading our way with a high of only 15F tomorrow plus below zero wind chills.

Ha, officially 10.2" of snow at the airport (1/2 hr away), and last year we only had 22" all season!

It's perfect snowman snow.

There's some schools scrolling on the tv already for being closed tomorrow (more outer areas) and some are having late starts (a few of my friends' kids) but not our schools to the dismay of the kids. Our district NEVER closes.

yeah, the worst of ours is supposed to hit around 3-4 am and continue through the morning commute. I'm sure we'll have tons of meetings cancelled at the office - we always do when we get bad weather/roads.

Yeah, the school where I taught never closed either. We had one really, really bad snowstorm that I was really annoyed they didn't close. Public transit was even pulled off the roads and the wait for a taxi was three hours. Housemate and I both taught at the same school and were told that we HAD to get to school - not showing up was not an option. But administration - who all had their own cars and lived no farther from the school than we did? Didn't show up. Less than 1/3 of the staff showed up, and we had something like 23 students from jk through to gr. 8 show up. Legally of course, emergency exits have to be kept clear - it was snowing so heavily that I had to go out and shovel every 1-2 hours to keep enough of a path clear for us to be able to get out the front or back door.
I was very much not happy with administration over that. I felt they put the lives of the staff at risk who were forced to come in, and that by being open, they allowed the parents of those students who dropped them off to put the students' lives at risk as well.

I'm supposed to work, but since it's a non-payroll week I could probably work shorter hours and then finish up on Tuesday. Ds1 and ds2 can take care of the girls.

morning- all that chit chat about being so tired yesterday and i don't think I ended up sleeping more than an hour last night/this morning. Was in bed by 11 and I think I literally tossed and turned all night- I know at one point I got up to use the bathroom and it was 2:15/2:30ish so I may have gotten a little bit after that. I only slept an hour nap yesterday so I know that wasn't it- I have taken longer naps on Sundays and no problems going to sleep. If this continues into the new year it will have to be addressed.

I'm not anywhere close to that- I promise! I go for my visits every year, I haven't passed a stone in over a year and a half, my doctor monitors me (two doctors actually). My urologist hasn't even referred me to a nephrologist because everything is fine- my levels in my urine samples are fine, my counts are fine. I promise I am okay!

I am 99.9% sure it's due to the stress I have been under- you have to remember that I JUST got an assistant this week so that load of stress just got dropped off my shoulders, plus the emotional toll of my new student just is taking it's toll on me physically. I have not let myself rest.

Ok, I have a diagnosis for many of us. We are suffering from pre-Christmas insomnia. On Christmas night we will all sleep like babies. I probably slept 3 hours last night. That is AFTER taking an Ambien. The worst part is having the guy who was snoring in his chair for an hour before bedtime now keeping me awake with his even wilder snoring in bed. Is it time to go for separate rooms. NAH!

Gotta get ready to head out in this monsoon. Supposed to get cold when the rain stops tonight. Not looking forward to this week.

Tami, maybe consider reducing some of the holiday activities you participate in just because others think you should?

Skipping th traditional Thanksgiving Dinner with family, and eating at the Inn with our friends has been a huge stress reliever for me.

If you could come up with just a couple of ways to make time to rest/relax it could make a big difference for you.
