I've heard that the cauliflower mash (subbed for mashed potatoes) is pretty good.

Alabama is beating Auburn so badly! I'm starting to feel sorry for them.

I found a recipe (it is pinned on my boards) that uses half potato, half cauliflower mash with goat cheese. Totally amazing. It is my newest comfort food.

just found out the guy that the kid is carpooling with took a short cut road home... ( its a windy thing you have to go very slow on lol guess he doesnt drive that way often) but... the kid is starving to death...

( they were supposed to be back to town between noon and 2 pm...) its after 4 now, they didnt leave the place till 3 because the guy doing the driving loaned one of his guns to someone else who didnt finish till 3...

Definitely need to figure out how to make one of those draft blocker thingies. I'm wearing thick socks AND slippers (and I'm one of those people who goes barefoot year-round if possible), flannel pants and a sweater, have turned up the heat (I *think* ) and am freezing. I have just gotten up to get a blanket.

Wonder what the draft dodgers are stuffed with? I've seen for sale in big box stores, but never checked them out closely.

Absolutely WILD winds out there - weather channel says gusts up to 41km/hr, but I'm wondering if they aren't higher than that. They aren't predicting snow until Monday, but you can definitely sense it in the air.

Swooping by a minute.... been looking at scrapbook layouts at my 2 favorite sites....
www.scrapbookgeneration.com has the most lovely sketches and also kits (they not only give you the sketch but the actual dimensions of each item on the sketch)

Out on a Limb - Scrapbooking Your Online Store For Scrapbook Page Kits for ideas for my students scrapbooks... this usually triggers ideas I can cut out on my cricut and let them do as they wish.... I just tend to cut titles for them.

Got a big box of photos from snapfish today, so they can scrapbook next week. Plus for the 3 kids who did not have scrapbooks, I found some on clearance at the Dollar General store on Monday. Regularly priced at $7 for a 12 x 12 album, clearance priced at $ 4.50 and rang up at $2.25... just need to find some extra pages for 3 of the kids... Guess I need to hunt around some other Dollar General stores.

Okay off to find food, feed feline babies, and then I am taking another pain pill. My lower back hurts today.

Imogene, thanks for the phone call....

I was just going to stuff with batting, but Janice mentioned seeing them made with beans etc. But I think that would probably get expensive, as I would need so much of them. It is my balcony doors, so the double width glass sliding doors. That is a long piece. If I saw them in a store, I might buy them, but I haven't seen them in a store anywhere here, so was thinking about making some. Thought I'd just sew a long tube and stuff it.

I think if it was beans, rice, etc. It would conform to the base of your door better, and block the draft more. But it would take a lot for a double door.

The temperature itself really isn't that bad, especially for this time of year. Probably a bit below average maybe, but not unheard of. It's only just below freezing at -2C (about 28F), though it is supposed to go down to -13C (about 8F) overnight. The wind is nasty though.
Still, even with this, we are better off than some of the peeps out west. Some parts of the country have had snow on the ground for something like three weeks. Some of the northern towns have already had days in the -20s.

Ugh...have I mentioned how much I hate clothes shopping?!

I am desperate for winter clothes & shoes so I've been doing some online shopping the last couple of days to take advantage of additional discounts. But I still HATE shopping!

I've pretty much wasted the whole day today and have accomplished little. As much as sometimes you need days like this, I do hate when I have so much to do and waste a whole Saturday.

I don't mind the online thing since it save me from running from place to place and some places have things online that they don't have in the stores.

Is it just me or has anyone else notice how horrible all the jeans look on the models? I'm looking at Macy's and not one of them good in the jeans.

I don't like the look of the current styles at all. I like a more classic look to my jeans.

Jeans with big, ragged holes in them are fashionable with the young ladies here. They pay extra for the holes.

Here's an example of what I mean - Calvin Klein Jeans, Curvy-Fit Bootcut-Leg Jeans, Medium Wash - Womens Jeans - Macy's

First they are way too short on her and they make her behind look flat.

Even if I am watching what I eat, trying to be sensible, I don't even bother at holiday time. Easter weekend, Mother's Day, Father's Day, the Victoria Day weekend, Thanksgiving weekend and from Dec. 20-Jan. 1st, I ignore all fat, calorie counts etc. it just isn't worth the worry, guilt etc. and all I go through if I do.
