I can't keep my eyes open either, but if I shut down the computer now, my new toy will stop charging. You aren't supposed to stop it in the middle I don't think, (in fact, the program that you have to "eject" it from won't allow you to eject if it hasn't finished charging) and I don't imagine it would be the best thing to do on its first charge. I can't just leave the computer running, as after a set amount of time with no activity it goes into sleep mode, which effectively shuts it down. So I have to keep it up until the thing finishes charging. I don't remember my first one taking this long to charge the first time. Hopefully it finishes soon, 'cause I'm getting tired!

Morning Chickies!

Heading off soon to get my massage, and take her a bday card. My neck is really bad this week. Hope she can loosen me up.

Big Sis is coming over later for a visit. BBL

There wasn't a must have for me either but I did pretty much get the kids/Santa taken care of. Best part...never stood in line to get in or to check out.

I am loving the size of my new ereader, though I do regret that there are no cases available for it yet. You'd think with it being on the market for a month by now and the holiday season coming up, that they would have rushed to make sure there was SOMETHING available, even if not a ton of variety.
I think if this one had been available a year ago, I'd have bought it and not the other one I have.

Oh wow. That is a fabulous deal. They are crazy expensive here. A floor stand model will set you back $300+ and even a table top one generally runs around $150-175. Some of the people in my stitchy group swear by theirs for stitching, and even have the portable battery ones that they bring with them. I've never tried one.

Really! I'd have picked that up if I'd seen it. I didn't even look at that ad.

I picked up a Nook. Wondering if my books on my Kindle for PC can be put on it? I so don't understand technology.

I picked up a new dvd player cuz ours is on the fritz...the lady asked if I wanted the one with wifi or without. Still don't really understand the difference so I got the basic one...probably going to regret it eventually.

Oy. Just had JW's at the door. I'd like to know what they are doing in the building, as the building does not permit solicitation. They knocked and would not go away. I have nothing on in my apartment making any noise, so they can't have heard me in here, but they kept knocking and calling out "hello!". Finally answered the door just to get them stopped knocking.
HA! I can tell they are at my neighbours down the hall, as her dogs are barking like mad at them!

I don't know Laurie. We don't really have nook up here. I know that kindle is available here, but I honestly don't know anyone that has one.
Most people up here it is either sony ereder or Kobo (as that is the one carried & supported by our one national bookstore chain).
It was my understanding though that kindle has a proprietary format, that can't be read on any other device.
Try downloading one and see. You can also try going to the site that you downloaded the books from originally. I know when I buy my books, you can sometimes choose which format you want - perhaps you will be able to download the same book in a different format at no extra cost?
Or just type your question into a google search box. Somebody must have info on it out there.

This is the same thing the clerk said. I don't have netflix and if we ever do use it, we have the wii which is supposed to work for that too.

Ds1 wants a remote control car so I picked one up a monster truck that can be controlled with the ipod. I hope he likes it, looks pretty cool.

I was just sitting here thinking I have been sitting on my behind ever since I got up and am feeling hungry, so maybe I should get breakfast & get going on something. Then I looked at the clock! No wonder I'm hungry! "course, I did sleep in quite late too, so I haven't actually been sitting here all that long, but still......
I have to say though - do like my technology. Love that I can have dinner, or sit in my craftroom and have my laptop & still chat with the chickies!

It's her yearly bronchitis. She sometimes gets it right before the holidays and sometimes right after.

Can't decide what I want for brunch. And I'm also in the mood for something sweet & indulgent that doesn't require much work on my part and also does not require me to go to the grocery store. Not sure what that will end up being yet.

I use daylight bulbs in my lamps and I do find that it makes a difference. I need another lamp though. I'm finding my living room dark in the evenings. I'll be ok for Christmas, since I put my tree there and between it & the lights in the window, I have the extra light I need. I will have to think about getting in another lamp in the new year though.

Back from my massage and visit with Sis.

The massage lady said I had a lot of inflamation in my neck today. She used some kind of cream that she had compounded, and it worked like a charm! This is the best my neck has felt in weeks.

She let me leave SU catties and business cards in her lobby. She loved the bday card I took her, and suggested I bring in a basket of cards for her to sell for me. Hopefully, I get some leads.

So I decided to indulge in these: Foods - Sweets: Breads & Doughnuts / Homemade Apple Fritters!!! Can't wait to try this!

They do taste good, and they were very quick to mix up - I had the apple chopped & the dough mixed up in about 5 minutes. Nice flavour. Texture wise it was very cake-like, but deep-fried like a doughnut (if you are looking for them to be the texture of the yeast doughnut you get in the shop, they are definitely not that).
But................... I made a LOT of mistakes! None of them the fault of the author or the recipe, just operator error.
1)I did not chop the apple small enough. I chopped them slightly smaller than peanut shell size and it was WAY too big.
2)I made them much too big. This is definitely a case of bigger is not better. I definitely would not do any larger than golf ball size if I did them again. (I would probably try a cookie scoop next time, though my two sizes are probably too small and too big. I need one in the middle! ) I ended up with nearly half a batch of cooked perfectly on the outside, still nearly raw on the inside.
3)I had trouble regulating my oil temp, and that was definitely an issue. Some cooked too fast, while others ended up grease balls 'cause they cooked too slow.
4)I made my icing glaze WAY too thick, and I had thick dripping icing all over them which made them way too deadly sweet. Either a much thinner icing, or perhaps just dusted with icing sugar.
I think I ended up eating one whole one, and bits and pieces of another 3 or 4 (and the rest are going in the bin, as they are either piles of raw or grease balls. And I don't need to be eating them anyway. If they were fit to give away, I'd go knock at the neighbours.). Now I've eaten so much sweet I almost feel sick - and I'm sure that is the fault of the glaze. Am having some orange juice to counter the sweet. However, the recipe makes WAY too much for one person. I think this would easily make enough for 4 people (unless those people are four teenage boys, in which case we all know there is no such thing as enough). I would love to make a smaller batch if I was doing it again, but using only 1/2 or 1/4 of an egg I think would be an issue! Then there is the nuisance of using all that oil for deep-frying and the mess of the cleanup of it afterwards.
I would probably make this again, but definitely not for just me. I did very much like the flavour though, and may be adventurous one day and make the dough and bake it in muffin tins instead of deep frying it and see how that comes out.

She let me leave SU catties and business cards in her lobby. She loved the bday card I took her, and suggested I bring in a basket of cards for her to sell for me. Hopefully, I get some leads.
Very cool about the stampy stuff!
Did she give you a container of cream to take home so you can keep applying it and have your neck feel better?

you know for the first 20 years of our marriage, yesterday my tree would have gone up without fail... and the last few years its been getting harder and harder to do it... and today J is not home and hubs is still working on the barn so... I think I am going to go upstairs for a while and try to get some thing done for VSN samples or something...
