We haven't discussed it really. I do know that when we put in our order for stuff on the clearance rack, she ordered a couple of sets that she wouldn't have bought otherwise. Mostly, her customers don't seem too interested in the clearance rack, which I find most odd. I know she sent them an email about it, because I am on her "customer" email list. But I think only one or two others besides me ordered anything.
There is one set on the clearance rack I really like some of the images in, but it was too expensive a set when it was in the catty to buy for only a few of them. It was $$ enough that you really needed to love most/all of it to justify buying it. I was excited when I saw it on the clearance rack, but it is still more than I am willing to pay. I am bad enough to hope that the price drops some more.
I agree about the 5/8" satin ribbon. I had just started buying it. I bought two colours off the clearance rack that I knew I would use.

He thinks he has to do all the work...it only seems like he's doing more because he drags a simple chore from 5-10 minutes to taking 3-4 hrs by the time he's actually done with it. It's so frustrating.
Probably partly age.
Do you have a chore chart? Would it help if he saw all the chores listed that the other kids are doing?

I will get the bashful blue and the pretty in pink satin ribbon. I love them and I can always use pink for the grand daughters and BB is one of my favorite SU blues ever.

Yep, we have a chore chart. I'll sometimes ask them to do things not on the chart, and I get "that's not my chore". Or I'll remind them to get something done, then it's "why do I always have to do that"...well because you picked it as "your chore". It's a double-edged sword no matter what I do.

Do you drink Welchs 100% grape juice by chance?? I was reading that if you drink 8 oz a day you won't get it! Something about the acidiy of the juice keeps things from growing in your system??! You have to do it on a daily not after already be exposed to it. Think if i was a teacher or worked in a hospital or nursing home ect where i was exposed to it daily i'd have to try that out!

Yep, I'm holding...he'll be loading the washer tomorrow night while sh is waiting if it comes to that. They've often been finishing picking up their rooms while he's been waiting impatiently.

I'm a mean mom....would never let it take hrs. I'd set a timer and he'd lose something else if not done! DS#2 (15) has started getting bad about needing to be told 2 or 3 times to do something like take out the trash or feed/water the pets ect. I started setting a timer and if he hasn't started it by the time it goes off then he gets extra chores and if that doesn't work going "Amish" for a day is painful to teenagers!!

I've set timers, he's already without all electronics until Sunday night (which means he'll start bugging the other kids leading to all kinds of other trouble), it doesn't phase him in the least. Except now I get yelled at because I hate him and I'm lying to him, blah, blah, blah. He still doesn't have the ipod I bought with his money on BF because he hasn't earned it (which is a big part of why he won't listen, seeing his brother with his ipod). I think a lot of it is being the "middle" child, watching ds1 expand his privileges with age, and watching the girls. Oh well, hoping he'll outgrow it eventually,

My middle brother's senior year of high school, he was so not himself, mom thought he was on drugs...turns out later we found out gf was expecting his child and he didn't know how to tell the parents. Mom was relieved it was "only a baby" and not something life threatening, kwim.

Our house stays about 65 inside. If people are chilled at all, they put on socks or a sweater.

Janice, I'm a meaner mom. If a kid even hints that something "isn't their job" they do something for someone else too. And if they complain about that, they get more. Basically, do your job and keep your mouth shut about it.

They learn to get it overwith. LOL

And I agree, he'll come around. Just stay consistent. There's nothing that unsettles them more than flipping out and mom bouncing around trying to juggle their moods. Calm, unflappable, almost bored as you require the same thing as yesterday, day before, day before, day before.

You're doing great.

Speaking of chores. Does anyone else live with a male who does some menial task around the house and then spoils your appreciation of it by saying "I just started the dishwasher FOR YOU". Like starting the dishwasher is obviously my job, but he was kind enough to do it out of the goodness of his heart.
