so is Tim... but, when I picked out this tree... its lights were white... and since the biggest color of ornaments is white ( with some red and blue ) the main thing you see is white.

Very pretty. Do you have a prelit tree? Did you add extra lights to it?

that is a pre lit tree... and some of the strands did not work when it got home ( was a home depot store display either last year or the year before) so got it cheap... and went to the store and bought 3 (50 count) white light strands and plugged them into it too...

Does anyone have a negative scanner? I'm thinking of getting one but wondering how well they work.

here comes the makes you roll your eyes part...

its a martha stewart brand tree... lol... but, the branches are cool even in the day time for a fake tree there are more than one kind and some pine cones and a little bit of fake snow... so you end up covered with glitter putting it together...

I have the colored lights with a strand that goes down the pole of the tree also (an old roommate showed me that trick). Two strands have a few blinkers so it's not wild with them.

Sure looks pretty in the picture though. I like your curtains too...I'm still trying to figure out what to get for my window. I was glad to get rid of the drapes but think I still need something because there is a slight draft. I should test though to see if sheers might be enough of a block to keep it away.

I saw some that I like at Bed Bath and Beyond, but ONE valance piece costs almost as much as a whole curtain panel and I'd probably need three of the valances. (Looks like they are dry clean only. )

It looks like to get that effect you would need three top pieces no matter what...

eta looking around at that brand of curtains it looks like they only make dry cleanable ones...

at Penneys on line they dont have something similar or Im not putting in the right words... and bing is not finding much in that style either. (and not even the ones you linked too haha)

My tree goes up Dec. 1 and comes down Jan. 1st. That is what my Mom always did, so that is what I do too.

We got a LOT of snow overnight, and it is still coming down quite heavily.
I know I tossed & turned last night and had some really freaky dreams, but in the midst of all that I must have slept for a while in a really awkward position, because I have woken up with a very sore back and neck. I am starting out my day with advil.

I have dusty pink and ivory decorations from before I got married...it also had white lights. When we'd have a real tree upstairs these would go on the fake tree downstairs.

Looks like the funeral will me on Monday, New Year's Eve day. Just called my boss to say I won't be in but would call when I'm leaving the cemetary. I'll see how far they are...I can either go in for a few hours or maybe finish it all up before running the checks on Wednesday.

Sitting around just hurt too much this am, so after I took the advil, I headed back to bed. Now feel more "normal" and while I am stiff & sore, am not in pain, so.........
I had thought to tidy up my stamp area today, and maybe hit the stamp table and ink up some of the new stuffs, but I know I hunch over in horrible posture when I stamp. I have no desire to re-create the pain, so I think I am going to stay parked in my comfy chair and stitch the rest of the day away. Snow is still coming down. I could really use some bread, but I don't feel like hauling myself out in the snow to the grocery store so I am going to stay put!

I'd stay put too. We used to have a a Hostess thrift store down the road that I could run to for bread. Now that they closed, there is really nothing "close" and hassle free other than the grocery store to run to for bread.

Did it also come with earplugs for the parents?

No but she wanted to go downstairs where the other kids are playing the Wii. Of course they sent her back up here, and now she decided to go to her room. There's a mirror on the back of the door, so now she can perfect her moves while singing.

Oh excellent - because if the mirror is on the back of the door, she must have to close it while practicing! LOL

Hey Chickies!

It is pretty cold here today, but no precipitation.

Sent DH out on errands and I am cleaning up a bit.

We're supposed to get 15-25cm of snow today. I believe it, because it has been snowing heavily ever since I first got up this am. I seldom get much in the way of snow on my balcony - maybe a bit on one end or corner if the wind is blowing the right way. But I've done from no snow to almost two inches. And that is on a balcony protected by the overhang from the balcony above it. People who work at the seniors home next door and came in to work this morning - their cars are completely covered (I can see their parking lot from my window). They are literally going to have to dig their cars out to go home.
Definitely a day to be cozy at home.
I am supposed to be meeting lilbro for lunch tomorrow (I am off, he is off, and his wife is still away - so I am dragging him to the restaurant I want to try that no-one else in my family wants to try), so will try to do my errands before I meet him. Maybe I can get him to drop me off at Ms on the way home. 30% off everything you buy q for tomorrow, and I need some floss. Have a couple of colours that Ms has been sold out of every time I've been lately.

Survey here:

What temp do you keep your thermomostat set on?
(Moms of little ones are totally exempt. I know you have to keep them warm)
I'm experimenting today. Just a few degrees seems to make a big difference in how often
the heat pump kicks on.

I have no control really over mine. Legally, landlords are obliged to keep the building at 21.
My parents keep theirs between 19 & 20 when they are home, 16-18 overnight or during the day when no one is home.
